January Transfer Window

I see the Caf is expecting transfer activity but why? Moyes pretty much ruled it out. We're very, very unlikely to sign anyone in this window.

Because if we don't make some changes we're probably not going to make top 4, and we'll probably lose out on as much money as it would cost us to overpay for some players in January anyway.

A Bola are saying that we've made contact with Garay's agent. Typical transfer window.

Seems plausible now as both Rio and Vidic could be leaving in the summer

Garay

I'm waiting for the Huntelaar and Vucinic rumours now.

Our meeting with Jorge Mendes wasn't actually about Coentrao at all. It was to discuss Miguel Veloso.

Apparently Arsenal are talking to Griezman - another of our targets. Yay.

I think he's a transfer forum target, no idea if he's a Moyes target. Probably not as he likes to play wingers who dont score goals

What's disappointed me more is that rather than (as I expected) doing work since September to now to identify players who would be available in this window and working behind the scenes to get everything sorted and announced early - we instead appear to have forgot about it for four months and come in January and said "Right, who's available?" and effectively started from the opening of the window

To be honest it's a surprise to me we haven't added already. I was obviously wrong about the club wishing to act to compensate for the summer and working throughout the end of 2013 to ensure when the window arrives we had our targets who were available identified and already be in advance discussions with respective clubs. Of course what we know and what is true may be two different things but the scenario I was expecting doesn't appear to have played out.

Hull have agreed a fee with Everton for Jelavic. Could be a great transfer for them.

On the other hand it could turn out to be another Danny Graham.

3/4m i think is being said, not bad.

In fairness it's likely we just don't want to make interim signings and have specific targets in mind for the long term that won't be available right now. It's a risky strategy given that our place in europe next season looks unlikelier every match, but I can understand why it's being done. What I'm slightly concerned about is that if Moyes is likely to go at the end of the season, it may well throw our plans upside down again.

Given that he's looked poor for well over a season I'd say it's a pretty good result. Will you replace him with a signing, or just use the likes of Naismith?

I was expecting us to sign a player till now.

Rumours are that McGeady will possibly be coming in. Been rumours about some strikers too so i think we will if it's the right player.

Tbh it's been a very, very slow window so far. I don't think anyone in the top10 has made a signing yet.

The Irish papers this morning are saying McGeady is a pre contract for the summer.

We could probably pay a small fee if we wanted him now if we really needed to. Depends when Deulofeu is back and if we get anyone else i suppose.

I don't know what is most frustrating - constantly looking for confirmation that we have signed someone (like I did last summer) - or hardly be bothered to look because I don't expect us to sign anyone.

More on Jelavic fee. Believe Hull have agreed to pay £5.5m with the potential for it to rise to £7m with add-ons. #EFC

Christ, I hope for their sake he performs as he did for us when we first bought him.
