Independent saying we are deep in talks regarding signing James.

If nothing else recent events have told us the media mostly know nothing. If this is true, however, I think the power balance has significantly shifted since we signed Lukaku. We've shown them they can't take the piss.

By all accounts Real are looking to shift James to accommodate Mbappe. There don't seem to be any takers. Time to lowball, or are we no way interested in this player?
In deep talks to announce someone else 1 week later probably. I cant wait

Its Delaney, dont hold your breath.

Sounds like Madrid and/or Gestifute are trying to make a market for the player. I don't reckon we have any interest.

Instead of spending 50-70m on James, move Mata to the #10 consistently or play Pogba there and buy a winger for that money - Lemar, Dembele, Mahrez etc.

I'd happily do a sportsmanship deal with Real Madrid agreeing to never try to sign each others players.

Obviously they'd never go for it though because they always want our best players and know we'd offer them more money than anyone for their cast offs.

Delaney usually hasn't got a clue - but he first broke the news that we're interested in Lukaku, in april. Maybe he's just doing 2+2 here
I highly doubt that it was him "breaking" the news. We must have just put two and two together and came up with the fact that we need a new striker since Zlatan is out till new years.

If we can't get Sanchez we should go for this guy. We need creativity and goals from midfield.

I can't see us going back for a second serving of Perez.

I just hope the Madrid board fire his ass out of the club.

How things are going at Real, I won't be surprised if Woody finds Rodriguez tied inside a cot with a 'take him' note attached to it.

It almost impossible for anyone, except maybe the fans, to force Perez out at Madrid. He has rewritten the bylaws to cement his position like a dictator. He won the recent reelection unopposed.

Feck James and Feck Real - Hopefully our financial muscles will grow bigger than theirs over the next 5 years, overtaking some of our common targets.

We're already better financially, so hopefully it will show in the market sooner or later.

No point in offering Madrid anything yet. Let them sweat it. It's them who want to get rid of James to fund other deals.

Let Inter or PSG lowball them into submission and then if the amount is reasonable, only then match it.

Can't see James choosing a second rate league and a tin pot league (where he already played) over PL and Man Utd.

Meh, a poor substitute for our real #10 target. Why spend over 50mil for that instead of waiting to use the money for Griezmann? I'd rather play others in that spot instead of settling for another RM outcast and help them finance their pursuit of Mbappe. It's one thing to possibly overpay for Morata, since we currently lack a primo striker, but we have quite a few players to fill in the #10 role. Don't think he'd offer an upgrade on what we already have, while Griezmann would've.

Its actually have been the other way around. We have sold cast offs to madrid bar ronaldo the only player we wanted tokeep. but backthen we were too soft in the market in terms of paying the fee and reciving it.

I'd gladly take James. From the 10 or the right, he can get us 15+ goals easily. I think some fans, who criticise Real for discarding a player after a year or whatever are the same themselves. I don't think there's much in it between James, Griezmann and Reus personally.

This whole reject thing is ridiculous. Real are in a great era now. Getting in their team is ao hard even for World Class players.

Look at Pique. He couldn't get games for United so went home to Barcelona where he was one of the best centre backs in the world. He was never going to play for us because we were in a great era and had two world class centre backs, yet he could still easily get into the Barca team.

Just because somebody is struggling for games doesn't mean he isn't good enough. Real's squad is so good at the moment that some of their bench players could be the best player in the whole English league. James potentially would be. Class player would love him here. The only worry is whether he would settle.

I think Zidane wants to keep Morata but not Hamez.

The biggest stumbling block will be the price IMO, he's a player that hasn't improved since he went there and has been on the outs for ages, there are probably a few teams that would go for him at £45M but not the £65M Real want, they basically want all of their money back and you just don't get that when a player doesn't work out as hoped, like we found out with Di Maria.

He has a weak mentality like ozil, which dont sit well with united.

We got maximum money back for di maria though.

I'd be okay with another £70 odd million going out.

Players like James or even Morata aren't cheap but they're realistic targets for any club, looking for improvement both in the league & CL.

For now, I don't see many candidates for taking number 10 in United and James ticks few important boxes. His commercial range is far bigger than Rooney's, his Instagram alone got more followers than almost all United players combined so probably a big chunk of money spent could return to Woodward sooner or later.

United probably won't get Bale, Alli or Kane so maybe it's a good time to set sight on players that are ready to leave and still are in perfect age for new challenge.
