I don't disagree with any of that. But it's even harder to stretch teams with players like Mata, Rooney, Fellaini etc. playing at a snails pace. You keep mentioning the CL but how about we start performing in the league first before thinking of beating the Barcelona's of this world? Pace is overrated but at the same time relevant. And it isn't by no means the only reason to not want James Rodriguez.

Mane is terrific. I don't know why you're classifying him as a non CL player. Every player doesn't have to be the same. Some are paced dribblers, others are goalscoring second strikers. It takes different types and all that.
Rooney, Fellaini are terrible to average footballers, combine someone like a normal Ozil, James with players that have pace like Mane, Martial, Rashford and then you get something, or players who have both like Coutinho's, Hazards. But not wanting a player like James because he isnt fast is just ridiculous to me.

Mane is a good player but not half as excellent as some people think imo, he's never a player I would fear, not even when he is opposed to Blind. On his day when he can exploit his pace and running power he can be excellent, also quite a good finisher, but nothing elite.

Ballbag saying it looks as if it's going that way and James is happy to join us regardless of champions league, fwiw.

It's probably because we often fail to stretch teams. And doing that is key in the PL.

Mane is great. I'd happily take a player like him who can make mincemeat of premier league defenders. He isn't limited either. A lot lesser players than him excel in Europe.
I wanted Mane before he went to Pool.

We miss that kind of player in our side.

I hate to be thay guy but James was juat subbed and looked like he was waving goodbye

Judging by his response to be substituted he is definitely off. Really hope we aren't the ones stupid enough to splash out on him. I still can't believe that Real paid all that money for him based on that one great World Cup.

I haven't seen enough of him to really have a firm opinion on signing him but citing Di Maria as some kind of justification for never signing anyone from Madrid (which I see a lot of) is nonsense.

Monaco paid big money for him too, before that World Cup. He's a very talented player, who has a 1 goal in 3 strike rate and assists loads too.

People turning their noses up at James when we have Fellaini, Rooney and Lingard regularly turning out for us. You couldn't make it up.

Seems the news are true.

Waiting for him them. Will improve our attack heavily and add more solutions we don't have.

These people aren't saying we don't need to sign improvements, nor are they saying we should persist with the players above. It's a matter of priorities.

Was park ji sung elite? Probably not but he was phenomenal and underrated. Mane reminds me of park . Energy pace acceleration ball control, delivery, goal scoring vision. Mane is the one we definitely needed and instead we let him go because of mkh but we needed both.

Can people just explain to us the criteria we need in the coming attacking players away from pace ?

James just got substituted in the ongoing Real match versus Sevilla. The way he clapped while going out looked like it was his last home game for Real Madrid. You could almost tell. Looks like there's some truth to the reports.

It's not because it's Madrid, it's just a factor in a bigger debate.

But not to us.

James was a great player for Porto and Monaco. He was good in his first year at Madrid under Ancelotti but is unfavoured by Zidane. Despite being unfavoured by Zidane he has still given a solid contribution in the last two seasons as a squad player. Many good players leave Madrid because of the way the club is run, Higauin, Ozil, Di Maria etc.

Think Park has far better general understanding of the game and was more an allrounder who did have the tactical intelligence and awareness I'm talking about funnily.

I voted NO, to James, because I feel that he'd be Di Maria MKII.
But I partially agree with what you are saying.
The problem is that he may end up being as productive as our existing attackers, ie. 5-6 league goals per season, which is extremely poor and will not propell us to the top of the league.
We need 2 attackers of such quality that they can both match Ibra's goal scoring exploits and I know that's not going to be easy.
For the record I don't expect any of our current attackers to score big numbers next season.

Truly bizarre logic at it's finest.

This would be such a classic United signing under Woodward. We have much more pressing needs in other positions, he's a reject from another big club who probably won't be arsed to play for us - signed just to show we can spend huge fees on players...and also purely for marketing reasons.

Chelsea went and bought two players in positions they desperately needed them. They weren't hashtag or link-up with Stormzy friendly, or sitting on the bench at Real/Barca..they were hard-working footballers who clearly wanted to play for them and do everything for the cause. That is why they went from a mid table crisis season to Champions.

Please don't sign James. If we do, I'd give him a chance obviously, but he has flop written all over him. Would just be another huge social media unveiling for Woodward's ego rather than actually that beneficial to the team.

IF Jose ordered for James, then we all need to chill. Jose gets is player purchases more right than wrong.

What I suspect is Jose trying to replay the Wesley Sneijder scenario. James is closer to Sneijder than either of Mata and Mikhi. He is good at set pieces, shoots well from long range, passes decently and has an eye for goals.

Sporting need a goal in Villarreal or Leganés,if not will be in Segunda
