I'm not sure why people think we are stacked in #10 position. I honestly think Rooney and Mata will leave this summer, and both have mainly played from wide areas this season anyway. Mkhitaryan and Lingard are our most utilised #10's, and both can play elsewhere.

I think we are trying to conduct our business early and keeping a finger in every pie, so to speak. Griezmann is likely our first choice with James and Bernardo Silva as alternative options to play as attacking midfielder/right winger depending upon opposition.

We have 2 players that can operate as a #10 if we use one, and in truth we shouldn't be using one all that often anyway.

You can see it at the top left under filter. Total.

I know, I was wondering about the pertinence of that choice because the players didn't play the same amount of games and you can clearly see that for numerous entries James and Rooney are on top.

Ah misunderstood.

J-Rod's wife this week:

"I cannot promise anything, but James wants to continue with Real Madrid and I love Madrid too, I am really happy in Spain and I want to stay here."
No thanks.

It's literally his wife. She's not going to say "lol feck RM and Spain" regardless of his feelings.

Truth is he's probably off. Realistically there are better options for us with more important roles to fill. However when players like Fellaini and Lingard are starting many games it's not like we have the right to complain if we do sign him

Don't see why not if United can get him on the cheap. With Real though they'd probably get a Di Maria sized fee for him.

I like him but we don't need him. We already ready have slow goal scoring att mid type in Mata.

He won't add anything to our squad. He'll just unbalance us trying to fit him in.

Not the first time that she's declared how happy she is in Madrid. We don't need another Di Maria.

He's a great player and was arguably Real's second best player in his first season behind Ronaldo (that's partly down to Modric's injury) but I'm not sure he would be a good fit here.

You used "total" instead of "per game" or 90mn?

I used Squawka for the first time so I didn't understand what those other options meant. I used the per game option now and saw the stats.

Mkhi has a better defensive score. So I guess, Jose would choose Mkhi over James any day.

Those stats are from other seasons.
In this one James hardly played and have a good amount of goals and assists

That's a fair.:)

As for what Mourinho would do, he has preferred Mata and he isn't obsessed with defensive work like we saw with Ozil.

He really wants to stay at Madrid though. I wanted him to come when the rumours started but now that I know that this is going to be a Di Maria vol. 2 I'd rather he stayed there or went somewhere else.

He's been good as of lately but earlier in the season he was really bad and sometimes you can get your jugdment clouded by a couple of good games.

Also, I don't really think he suits what we're trying to achieve in here, he's not really slow but he's not even close to what we really need.

What makes you think Mata will go? He was having his best season in years until he got injured. If he does though, then I'd defs sign James. I'm a big fan of his. As it currently stands though, I don't think we need him, priorities are elsewhere.

FTD is merely a fan-run YouTube channel and Howson is also just a fan of the club. Why would he have any sources than you or me?
He's probably just another keyboard journalist with an internet connection.

James would destroy the dressing room chemistry with his sulking when not picked for a game. He thinks he's a superstar already and can't really have a diva like that here. Isco over James any day everyday.

Do you want him to be happy when he is behind lesser quality players and even injured players in the pecking order? If he is such a cancer, Madrid would have gotten rid of him. There is nothing wrong with the kid wanting a transfer if he feels he is not getting the amount of minutes he deserves, not based on ability, but on personal relationship with the coach, president and/or nationality.

Isco is a also a very good player who is also having a great season but is still not getting the minutes he deserves under Zidane. James and Isco are different types of players with James being more dynamic and having more facets to his game.

James does score goals but if we go for James, I don't' see us getting Griezmann who I rate much higher than James. Griezmann provides that pace up front to break on the counter. James relatively is slower. Isco and Griezmann would fit together well whereas James and Griezmann would be doubtful as I feel they would come in each other's way.

The James to United rumours are just not going away. No smoke without some fire.

If Jose really wants him and James really wants to play for United as it's being rumoured, then he might be a good summer buy for United provided his price is right.

I'm hoping this one is bullshit.

One can't really tell with all these rumours flying around. It has been racked up in the last one week. Funny thing is that at the same time, the Bernardo Silva to United rumours went up a notch and it's hard to understand why Jose would want two new number 10s.

The agents are likely fanning rumors to increase the valuation of their clients. At the same time, United might truly be contacting these clubs as backup and/or leverage in negotiating their preferred targets.

I'm scared with the amount of story time this is getting in the media, it just wont go away. We need other players in key positions before we start looking at another number 10. The team is really unbalanced at present, the last thing we need is another squad player, we need specialised players in other key positions first.

We should go all out for him if the price is around 30-40 mil. The guy can create and score goals. Clear upgrade on what we have. I do have doubts about the work rate though. But he would be desperate to prove himself and unlike di maria, he wont be played out of position and he wont be instructed about not doing specific things (LVG's case with ADM). Jose will only sign committed players. ADM comparisons are out of order to some extent because ADM wanted PSG, PSG wanted him but due to FFP, they backed out. There is no such interest from other clubs this time. Maybe I am wrong, but we could do with a bit of creativity. Good at taking set pieces, good crossing and good shooting ability.

I keep reading phrases like "another number 10" or "too many number 10". What do you guys mean when you refer to a player as a number 10 and which players in the current squad are deemed as such?

MORE squad players are exactly what we need, and of better quality too. Rooney's going to be on his way at the end of the season. Mkhi has been disappointing at times. James would be great to come on or start in his place.

I really don't get this reluctance to improve our squad.

Amazing insight there. Based on what exactly? Can you back that up?

Don't forget the LVG factor. If he was still here, Mkhitaryan would probably be warming the bench on a regular basis.
