Tbh i dont think we should bother unless its griezmann or neymar basically.
Mikhitaryan hasn't even been here a year, Matas probably been our best attacking midfielder and Rashford and Martial are young enough that i wouldn't be desperate to replace them.
Unless its someone who's drastically, undoubtedly better i just dont see any compelling reason to throw money at someone who might be marginally better than what we have.

With Zlatan's injury it'd just make more sense to go for a striker or at least someone who can do a job as a striker anyway imo.

Even leaving all that aside, we need a goalscorer not a playmaker
This transfer more than most makes no sense to me

Not sure what they're referring to but people on Twitter saying we've agreed a deal for him. Some Spanish media saying the deal was finalised before they played Valencia.
Could you provide a link or perhaps who is saying it?

Reports in Spain via MEN. Yeah sounds legit.

He's a quality player, would be happy to have him in our squad for next season.

Don Balon claim that Real Madrid president Perez has agreed the transfer of James Rodriguez as part of the deal for De Gea, the only element missing being an agreement regarding the price (only !). The clubs currently do not agree on the players' respective valuations. The figures they list regarding De Gea seem very low to me (75m euros).

So I think it would be reasonable to say that this deal is currently a long way from actually happening.

Its a no brainer from a marketing standpoint. Best player from Columbia and our entry to south american market.

Gear up for this guys.

Its the usual bolox.
We'll sell De Gea about 20 times this summer and trade him for more or less every Real Madrid player at one point or another.

They'll probably sell him to PSG or Inter for a fraction of the figures being quoted.

Don Balon shouldn't be used as a source for any Real Madrid related news.

James is good at playing in the No. 10 role ONLY. We have way too many people who can play in the No. 10 role such as (Rooney, Mhikitaryan, Mata, Pereira, Lingard) James needs to go to Chelsea in part exchange for Hazard.

His best position is behind the striker but he can also play wide in 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

Also, the players you listed above, how well have they played in that role this season, are they the best (or at least better than James), and are they good enough to be first choice when challenging for both domestic and european honors. If the answer is in the negative to any of these, independent of the number of existing players, the club should look into upgrading in that position. The specific player choice, price tag and timeline would depend on the details.

At a reasonable price he's welcome. Very good player and will be a great addition.

At any unrealistic price such as 60m or plus that no thanks.

I personally would love him at United. He has a great shot on him which I think would benefit us massively in and around the box, Where so many of our players fail to score.

It would be just like Real Madrid to take our keeper while making us throw in extra money to get mugged off with this prima donna, while they take the money and go and buy Hazard or Bernardo.

Our current attackers only bother turning up in 1 out of 10 of our games and for the most part are very poor in everything they do. I'm sick to death of them all.

If he came here he'd easily be our most creative player which can only be a good thing, I'd take him 100%. (As long as we sign a DM and a couple of defenders first)

The matter of fact is that if we get James, we won't get Griezmann and the only reason is because you can't have James playing behind Griezmann. I have my doubts on that working out. Mhiki was bought to play as a No. 10 and he hasn't really played there much. If given the opportunity consistently, he will excel. He's a lot quicker than James. James hasn't really set the world a light being a Madrid player with all the players that Madrid have. The point I'm trying to make is that he won't be able to do much in our team that has inferior midfield compared to Madrid. And when dropped, he's going to sulk and create a sour atmosphere within the team. Has a lot of shades of Di Maria in this deal.

Griezmann to play at No. 10 any day over James.

James can play on the opposite flank to Mhikitaryan. People forget he started out at Porto on the flanks. He is not only a 10.

Would it?

He hasn't played on the wings for a while now. He plays in the middle for both club and country. I still have my doubts with him on the wings.
Just because he hasn't in a while doesn't mean his ability to do so has just dissapeared. The notion is just plain ridiculous. There is zero reason why he can't operate as a wide playmaker like Hazard did when he last won Mourinho a league title and like Mhikitaryan did in his best year for Dortmund (and like he has done in his best games for us.) Mourinho after all has always preferred width from his full backs. He prefers his wide men to operate like inside forwards, which for example is how he used CR7 and ADM in his record breaking title winning season at Real. Surely James and Mhikitaryan could do similar for us. Leaving the pure pace and finishing to any new 9 we get and a Griezmann.

After the DiMaria rip off, it's amazing we still happy to go to bed with RM just to get fecked again.
Not every Real player is a massive bellend like Di Maria. Bayern got Robben from Real and he's been an incredible signing for them.

I know this may count for feck all but Stephen Howson from FTD has been saying it's done for while. He never spreads transfer rubbish, apparently he has a source from the club. Also worth note that he is not happy about it either. I personally don't want party boy James Rodriguez.
