James Rodriguez| Is considering his options

A report on Marca saying a Premier League club has put a bid of £72m for James. Sounds like a Madrid wet dream getting that much.
Well we can rule Wenger out of that  . He surely isnt going to city as they have enough talent in his position plus he doesnt seem to be a Pep kind of player, So that leaves us and Chelsea. I doubt we would be going for him unless we sell Rooney and Chelsea are playing 442 and need a striker more than a number 10. I call bullshit

Who could it be, us? I'd take him but not for 72m

Bidding for James doesn't make any sense for basically any team other than Arsenal among the "top teams". City and us are set (us unfortunately because Rooney is playing). Chelsea don't need a winger. Tottenham won't spend that much money.

Excellent player, a player that I've always loved. Unfortunately, I think you have to build the team around him to get the best out of him, and that means playing a 4-2-3-1 with two holding midfielders. Similarly, Pogba ideally needs the team to be built around him, and he requires a 4-3-3 to thrive. I honestly can't see us being in for both.

Chelsea. Oscar out, James in.

This makes perfect sense to me, but only if Hazard leaves. There is a lot of talk of Chelsea playing a 4-4-2, but I see Conte eventually preferring a 3-5-2, with the option of reverting to a 4-4-2. Conte definitely likes to have a big man partnered by a more pacey, tricky or technical forward (Eder, Giovinco, Vucinic...James Rodriguez?). I think Hazard is perfect for the role though, they would only let him go if he forced the move.

Costa ----
----- James
Fabregas - Kante
Azpilizueta ------- Matic ------- Cuadrado
Zouma - Terry - Koulibaly
Courtois

Lots of talk these past two days about a deadline day bid for him by Chelsea. Not sure how Conte will fit Hazard and him into the same XI but James will be instantly a Top 10, maybe 5, player in the PL. Could be a three horse race this year if this pushes through.

Wants to stay means no one is willing to match his wages so he would rather sit on the bench.

No chance is he top 5.

I'm not even convinced he'd be in the top 10 either.

Yup. Because there is no way his ego would of been happy being on the bench while youth prospects started in the forward positions at the weekend.

James Rodriguez really couldn't do it on a cold windy tuesday night at stoke.

He's never played anywhere that's remotely cold. Can't see anybody else risking that huge fee.

He'd replace oscar. They need creativity in the team

No he won't be. Dude had a great WC, Madrid in true Madrid fashion kneejerked bought him and he's been overrated since then.

Spain is pretty chilly in the winter.

He was great for Monaco and his first half season in Madrid. Since then, he's been shifted around the pitch by three different managers but still, statistically, he pulls his own weight - a lot like United Mata in a sense. He will explode in the PL. Sucks that United won't be in for him but great for the league in general.

Fluid front three of Higuain, Dybala and James?

An XI with Higuain, Pjanic, Dybala, Alves and James might not have enough workrate in it though.

Seems like Real want to shift him.

His wages and probable fee leave very few clubs a possibility.

Chelsea, perhaps?

Can't really see anyone in for him tbh.

Unless we are ready to shift Mkhi to the middle and get a pacey RW, I want us to sign him. We can't have Rooney behind Ibra and expect to win the title. Jose is not going to change his 4231, so we need someone better to play in the hole.

A year long loan with the option to buy at £40m: make it happen, Woodman!

So shocked to see matuidi still rated highly.
I know what you mean.

Because he's a tidy player who rarely makes mistakes?
He's a very limited player. I said when we were heavily linked with him that I'd rather play Fellaini than sign him and I stood by that despite being in the vast minority. I'm not even that big of a Fellaini fan but Matuidi is just so average.

Thread in the football forum was locked so I thought I'd post here.

Really is a different player for Colombia. Madrid will regret it if they let him go.

Would have loved to have had him at United. So many doubters but he is quality. Would have thrived under Mourinho and definitely an upgrade on what we have at the moment.

Yeah be gutted if he went to Chelsea.

He was absolute class today against Venezuela today. Tore them to shreds with his passing, scored a goal and set up another, but missed a penalty. Would have had like three or four assists more had not Colombia, namely Bacca, fluffed several sitters. And this was all on a really shitty, slow, rain damaged grass in Barranquilla. He would´ve been that much better on a proper, fast pitch.

He really needs to be the proper number 10, running the show, which ain´t going to happen in Madrid. I can only imagine him in Rooney´s spot for us.
