James Rodriguez| Is considering his options

Di Maria has really ruined my belief in Madrid wantaways. So the fact that He is South American etc like Di Maria doesnt help. The others who left and were successs were europeans.

Oh and I definitely dont want to help bolster Madrids kitty for Pogba.
Yeah, South Americans rarely turn out to be competent.

With Micki's arrival inevitable, James would clearly play the number 10 which means Rooney in the midfield. I'm ok with this but we would need to give Leicester a call immediately and bid for Kante to provide much needed steel in the middle.

I wouldn't be happy with a front three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar if it meant Rooney would start in midfield.

I would rather move Rooney to #10 and buy a proper central midfielder. A CM is more important to us than a #10 currently.

If Bayern end up selling Gotze this summer (which i think they will) i can see James Rodriguez being the player the replace Mario Gotze with.
Not sure leaving Madrid's bench for Bayern's bench would make much of a difference to him. In fact, at Madrid he may have a better chance of getting more game time than at Bayern where he'll be up against undroppable Muller!

Rooney's link-up play is very poor though. Especially through his poor touches he normally ruins good attacking moves. However, I think as you're suggestiing Rooney will be used as a No10.

I mean he did fine when he played with RVP that first season.

Yeah he did but don't you think he's regressed since then? I hope he does well though. I just think his overall game has been on the downward spiral for some time now.

He definitely has his dry spell every season but he still manages double digit goals and sometimes assists as well consistently. And this time around he has better wingers in Martial and Mkhi running down the wing on either side of him compared to Young and Valencia.

I think there would be a chance, theoretically. In 2014/15 Ancelotti played James as a direct replacement for di María in that LCM/LW hybrid role he created to support and shield Ronaldo. Müller/Lewandowski can work roughly similar to Ronaldo/Benzema with a playmaking centre forward and a roaming secondary striker. If Ancelotti decides to implement the same system, James could replicate that role.

On the other hand Bayern has more than enough offensive options with Thiago and four very good to great wingers, so I think Ancelotti will use them to build a formation. It will be interesting to see how he'll fit all these parts into his team.

Anyway, Bayern most certainly won't buy an expensive new AM, they are more in need of a deep lying playmaker or a right back in my opinion (depending on where they want to play Kimmich next season).

The amount of ignorant posts in this thread is staggering. Apparently James Rodriguez is a player who only had one good tournament, is really slow, and can't really do anything well apart from shooting technique.

Recalling what I've read about players like Marcelo, Hummels, Hazard, Kroos, and others in the past months, you'd better get used to it.

I think James will end up in PSG, or even Chelsea if Madrid want to sign Hazard. But, If Real Madrid don't sign Pogba, I wouldn´t be surprised if James stays in Madrid.

He is good enough for them though, they just have 2 absolute worldies for each of their attacking positions.

Fair enough, I didn't realize he was being kept out of the team for that reason. I never see him play when I watch Madrid and found it odd.

He's probably wants out, at a good price he could be a real bargain. Would be an excellent choice for the #10 position.

He will tear up the Premier League. Only downside is Mendes.

And Mourinho will lose is proverbial shit at first because James isn't exactly defensively disciplined. He is great going forward though.

Does he even want to move? Last thing I read was about him wanting to stay and prove himself. Few worse ideas than getting someone who doesn't want to be here.

Linked with us again. Personally I'd take him for the fee quoted. Mourinho can get him back on track.

Would be a no brainer if he really is available for 50m IMO. Better than Rooney and Mata at the no10 position.

I'd rather we didn't. Especially with Rooney still in the squad.

No thanks.

Pogba assuming he comes should be our furthest forward midfielder.

But why get James if we're getting Pogba? Pogba thrives in central midfield, James seems to require a 4-2-3-1 so he can be just behind the striker. Pogba would have to be a DM. Maybe if this is true Mourinho wants to give Pogba the freedom to move up and down the pitch like Lampard. But is that Pogba's best position?

I don't think James and Pogba fit in the team together properly, rather just buy another quality central midfielder than a #10

We're going to play 4-2-3-1 with our without James. It'll most likely be Rooney as the no.10.

Classic Madrid, they're creating this link to make it look like James rejected us so they can massage their own egos.

This, when we sign Pogba Marca will come out with an article of how James rejected us.

Us paying RM 50% of the Pogba fee for a player that doesn't fit the mould of what Mourinho wants in his #10 is just totally unrealistic. It is that IRL FM playing muppet Perez using his cronies in Marca and AS as usual.

No chance. Madrid will string us along and reject us just to try and win the football politics. Screw them.

The last lad we bought from that mob worked out well, I don't think we'll pursue it or maybe i'm wrong. Let's see if we fax a bid through. A shame the Chinese market being closed now :)

Would make zero sense unless we're selling/benching Rooney, which seems extremely unlikely.

I agree.

I dont think its unlikely at all with the quotes coming from Mourinho and Rooney recently. Sounds like he's been told he isnt an instant starter anymore.

I'd take him for around £40m. But only if we sign Pogba first (don't want us paying Madrid to effectively get Pogba).

Gawd this. At worst, if he doesn't work out sell him to China or PSG at a small lost. People really expect us to win the EPL with Rooney and Mata at the #10 with Pogba pushing Carrick and Bastian around in wheelchairs. World Class talent is available and people are worried he might not fit in the team's system. Like the team should be hardset to play one formation all year long. Give the mad genius, Jose more toys to play with and let him figure it out.

I'd say offer them something like 20m and Mata. They take our reject and we give them ours.
