James Rodriguez| Is considering his options

We're going to play 4-2-3-1 with our without James. It'll most likely be Rooney as the no.10.
Mourinho might drop Rooney eventually though. I feel like signing James would restrict us to playing that one system - he wouldn't want to drop Rooney as well as a high profile signing.

I dunno, on one hand, he's overpriced, but on the other, we do have a handsome quota to fill up, and by god he's handsome.

I'd say offer them something like 20m and Mata. They take our reject and we give them ours.

We'd be more likely to get Jay Rodriguez for that offer. So rare player swap deals actually happen they're hardly worth mentioning unless you're talking about your football manager game.

I doubt we will make a 5th senior signing, especially in a position that we have more than enough cover in. Once pogba is done, we might make some signings for the academy with an eye towards the future but not any more for the first team.

I don't think he'd be like a Di Maria, more like a Hernandez for us in character but it's still a gamble. 30-40 million sounds about right. Trouble is how much game time would he get here. I think this lad needs to play every week to get back his peak performance but for who?

It's quite strange to see James and Morata being hoarded. Madrid turn down 75 million for Morata allegedly. If they've got plans for him then no problem but these players shouldn't be strung along. I'd like to see them play anywhere as a football fan.

World Class talent is available and people are worried he might not fit in the team's system. Like the team should be hardset to play one formation all year long. Give the mad genius, Jose more toys to play with and let him figure it out.

Mourinho likes defensively capable sides so there's absolutely no way he'd have a midfield three that contained Pogba and Rodriguez simultaneously. It just wouldn't happen.

Mata is hugely talented, he's a Spanish international and he's a Real Madrid product. He covers a similar role to James Rodriguez and similar to James he's a reject. He's older then James so those 20m would act as a sweetener to that. We would be negotiating as equals here.

Our rejects usually go for peanuts. Hernandez, Nani, the list go on and on. Why should we get screwed for buying a Real Madrid reject?

Madrid don't want James because he's a number 10 which doesn't fit with Zidane's 4-3-3 system; why would they consider getting a worse version of James whos older and has wages of over 100,000 a week, and who still doesn't actually fit their system. There's no point in even offering in my opinion, Madrid would have to be right mugs to take Mata + 20m

Why we're in muppet season I don't see why not.

---Pogba---------Schweinsteiger
Mkhitaryan-James-Martial
--------Ibrahimovic

I would buy him but it would definitely have to be after Pogba signs on the dotted line. We can't risk trying to fund Madrid so they can attempt to hijack Pogba. Oh yeah and Rooney would definitely need to be sold which is no easy task.

Everton may need a new striker if Lukaku leaves. :D

Just sign everyone!

If fans had their way this is what would happen.
But, buying half a new football team is never a good idea.
2-3 quality players every season is the perfect balance to keep a winning team at/near the top.

And we would be stupid to spend 50m on him considering he's a reject, he's not needed and he's got attitude problems.

We're far from a winning team.. FA cup doesn't count.

I think Madrid made a mistake signing him and now theyre trying to rectify that mistake by trying to generate media hype about bids from clubs like ourselves and PSG through Marca who are basically their propaganda wing. If we were going to spend 50m i'd be hugely disapointed if it was yet another number 10.

If he played for any other club...

feck giving that lot another huge chunk of money for one of their failed galacticos.

Hope we're not getting him. Looks like he has some attitude as well, and I honestly don't think he'd be a great addition. PSG is the perfect club for him.

We play 4-3-3. If we're selling James, then we obviously don't need a player like Mata. I'd swap James for Schneiderlin and our squad is ready for a season long transfer ban.....but I guess you need Schneiderlin. No one needs a 10 these days...

Well TBF those who play 4-2-3-1 do. We might give Real a choice between Mata, Bastian, Fellaini or even Herrera (+ of course a fee). My original point is that we shouldn't spend 50m on a Real reject especially since

a- we got rejects of our own and we never get 50m for them
b- rejects shouldn't be that expensive
c- James has attitude problems

Actually if I was Woody I'd give you 50m only if you take Fellaini off our back.

You should take Fellaini, very unique player ;)

Would love a player like James Rodríguez. Would be fantastic on the RW.

Martial-mkhitaryan-Rodríguez

Definitely him in the middle and Miki on the right if they were in the same side. Rodriguez is a bit like Mata in that he will have games where he does nothing but will still make the difference and score a nice goal from outside the box.

A report on Marca saying a Premier League club has put a bid of £72m for James. Sounds like a Madrid wet dream getting that much, even if it's 72m euros.
