Are we still using Moyes transfer list?!
He clearly wasn't on it, for some stupid reason.

I think you're leaving out the factor that Barcelona will most likely be very open to selling. Arsenal will certainly have some emotional pull but I still think we are the best sporting option because we have the money required to win titles in the next few years. He's at his boyhood club currently - very good friends with Messi and co.
Arsenal would be massively attractive if he was to leave - people are underestimating them.
There will probably be a number of other clubs interested.
Yes it's a possibility but IMO very unlikely and a risk, something which we can't afford much more of.
How many top midfielders actually make the move from one big club to another? Very few. Other than the players who've been brought through an academy or signed as a youth product - nearly every top midfielder at a top club has been signed from another smaller club - Vidal/Gundogan/Martinez/Modric. Unfortunately Moyes' lack of belief in spotting talent has left us with a very restrictive view of who is deemed good enough.

Yeah. We have gone from looking at 9/10 midfielders to looking at a 7/10? It all depends on the price. I assume that Everton will want to make a nice profit on this player so what 20m?
This guy isn't even at the level of an Arteta. He is the kind of player that we would be happy to see a team like Liverpool sign as it would be an indication of them not being able to mix it at the top level anymore.
No, but are they willing to invest as heavily as we are? It's not exactly been Wenger's style in the last 10 years. His extremely low net spend hasn't been out of necessity, it's been out of idealism.Arsenal do too to be fair. They're not exactly short on cash.

Wait, what? You're the one who brought Fergie into it and said he tried to get Strootman, not me. Now you're claiming I'm making things up? It's pretty clear what I said wasn't to do with what you responded with, isn't it? You brought the Fergie being interested in Strootman (bullshit) up, you're accusing me of being a fan who thinks Fergie can sign anyone (based on nothing), so explain to me how exactly how you're responding to exactly what I said.Yes I must be inept because I cant see the post where you said that.. I am responding to exactly what you said, not putting words in your mouth, re read your posts
I could have guessed you'd say that.. something tells me the only thing that you'd count as evidence is a phone call from Ferguson himself telling you that he was interested in signing him.
We'll always be able to buy any Everton player if we are willing to pay up. But I agree, they would demand a minimum of 20 million and that's just too much. Then we might as well pay 10 more and get a top-class player somewhere.Would Everton even sell him? It would take a crazy fee, considering what we paid for Fellaini.
If there's anybody at Everton worth getting its Barkley, feck McCarthy we need class not more mediocre talent in midfield.
Like we were happy when they signed Jordan Henderson?
That worked out well for us, didn't it?

So our centre midfield next season will be McCarthy, Carrick, Cleverley? Sigh.
If we do end up going for him, I'm hoping Cleverley is involved in the deal.So our centre midfield next season will be McCarthy, Carrick, Cleverley? Sigh.
i hope not, sell our one midfielder with any kind of mobility and bring in another slow midfielder!! no thanks! If we do end up going for him, I'm hoping Cleverley is involved in the deal.
If you got a reality check from the possible transfer of Toni Kroos, a German midfielder, playing for the German Champions -the biggest club in his home country, the reigning European champions, under one of the best managers in the world, at a club that he's been at since he was a teenager then maybe your judgement needs a bit of work.lol from kroos and fabregas at the star of the week to McCarthy..... who was it who said we can still attract the worlds top players!!!
talk about a reality check!!!
This guy is quite simply not the calibre of player we should be looking to bring in, I mean is this even serious?!

That doesn't matter one bit, he's still shite and needs getting rid of.i hope not, sell our one midfielder with any kind of mobility and bring in another slow midfielder!! no thanks!
i wasnt talking about myself, i never tough we shoud had a chance of signing kroos, vidal Fabregas reus, and didnt think we should be even chasing them becos i was scared what happened last year would happen again, ie we chaise wet dreasms and let the decent players who are available get snapped up.If you got a reality check from the possible transfer of Toni Kroos, a German midfielder, playing for the German Champions -the biggest club in his home country, the reigning European champions, under one of the best managers in the world, at a club that he's been at since he was a teenager then maybe your judgement needs a bit of work.

feck, I read the tweet from SkySports and read Manchester City, thinking why the hell do they want him?
From Kroos and Fabregase to James McCarthy, it's just a little underwhelming.
