That was revenge for underselling Rooney all them years ago ;)

But no you can't. I think I'd rather sell Barkley before McCarthy.
Big shout. Odd that there's a lot of people who still don't rate him on this forum.

I think McCarthy is a more important player for you than Barkley is. Won't win a team as many games but he'll be more consistent and help to control games better.

I'd rather have McCarthy here personally, even if Barkley has more hype about him.

Barkley would also be in a role that we've more than adequately filled.

Haven't you heard, it's all Irish bias and Cleverley was better than him while he was here and erm apparently Henderson is better, too. So yeah, he's crap and only Irish rate him.

From a United point of view it would be crazy to want Barkley over McCarthy for the current team. We should make him vice captain right now, I have never seen a player lead by example so much in my 21 years.

Edit. In a Everton shirt I mean.

True. I think there's a line of thinking that he's one of those talents that you just go for and worry about fitting in later. Not for me mind.

I'd really like us to sign McCarthy though. Think he would suit us down to the ground.

Barkley is overhyped, will be overpriced and is more likely to struggle under the pressure that all of that will place on him if he moves to a big club. He hasn't done that much at Everton yet.

For us, McCarthy any day out of those two.

McCarthy has got that guaranteed consistency in his play that makes signing him a no brainer, he is also getting better every week and driving the team on now. He could probably bring balance to any midfield his work rate and positioning is that good.

Just gets better and better each week. He's stepped up a level this season, more aggression in his game and more forward passes and more drive in general. His passing is like Keanes in that he hits them very crisp and just in front of the player to run on to. What a player.

You have probably seen a better view so I'll trust your judgement. I like that aggression in his game though even if he might of went over the top today.

He got the ball is not a valid excuse. I mean players can be sent off for making zero contact with their opponents.
If its a red for McCarthy then it is a red for Amalfitano too. They both when in with their studs showing and McCarthy just brought his foot down after so it went on top of Amalfitano.

I was watching Keys, Gray, Gullitt comment on it. They all seemed to agree it should have been a red, I'm not saying it gives that opinion more validity. Desailly cracked me up, he said it was an orange card, closer to red than yellow.

Yes he's an absolute beast. I think he is already at the level of someone like Matic and he can get better.

He'd be one of my ideal signings for our midfield. Would you be interested in a Fellaini-McCarthy swap. ;)

As much as i love Fellaini I think I will pass.

From a players point of view, it was a shit tackle, he knew what he was doing. Could have ended up really bad.

Bad tackle - dived in with both feet off the ground and could have broken his ankle.

I see him linked with Arsenal, Inter and United in a few of the Irish papers today.

Would definitely be a smart buy for Arsenal, I think.

Certainly. It would have been better to get him from Wigan though, now Everton won't let him go easy and will charge a lot for him.

You only had to watch us on Sunday to see how much we missed him. We lost every second ball and the middle of the pitch was a free run for the Spurs midfielders, Barry doesn't look nowhere near as good without him either.

Certainly would be, they'll prob throw £30m at Draxler instead though knowing stubborn old Arsene. While Blind has done admirable job I wanted McCarthy in the Summer and still do.

He learned an awful lot from Barry last season, positional sense and when to press the opposition in particular. He actually has a lot more to offer in an attacking sense as well but its seldom seen due to where he operates. In his v early days with Wigan he played a more advanced role which was where he played for Hamilton as well.

Obviously there was the bad tackle last week but he seems to have stepped up that side of his game this season. Aggression and urgency was something he lacked at times. Given the number of games he's played in his career to date his disciplinary record is excellent.

I would love to know our win percentage with and without him since he joined. I think he has now took on the mantle of our most important player.

I think Besić could pair with him well when Barry's legs go.
I do too, i think they will compliment each other very well. Besic will become a good player once he gets up to speed with the league. It must be very hard for him going to the Prem from the Hungarian league but he does look very comfortable in possesion although sometimes to comfortable and he allows himself to get caught.

Ah sad to hear, he was Vitesse's best player and one of the best in the Eredivisie last season.
To be fair Martinez said it will take til the new year for him to get up to speed and it took Deulofeu around that time before he started to play well so hopefully something similar happens with Atsu.
