Well they gave you a price and a date it needed to be completed by so they could focus on their planning for the new season, and you guys apparently decided to ignore that deadline and just continue haggling over the price. Not sure you can really blame Dortmund for this one.

108m is a huge amount. Any deal of that money across any industry, any country will involve top level negotiators...if seller wants to sell and buyer wants to buy. In case of Sancho if Dortmund not sending some of their own top hierarchy and sending some two bit representatives indicate they are not serious.
Another point, if a party is not serious about selling but reluctantly engaging somehow, possibly because Sancho wants to leave, then it will set some ridiculous conditions like no performance bonus, all guaranteed money etc.
So, it is best for united to move on and focus on business where there is a chance of success. If Sancho had to happen it would have happened by now. We will come back on some other day.

This is exactly what is happening. We have moved on but fans are refusing to move on.

I understand what you are saying and things do get complicated in these mega deals; just last summer we had the Maguire transfer. It can still happen imo.
You’re lacking common sense in regards to this deal. If we supposedly moved on, we’d be bidding for a RW now. RW has been widely reported to be our number one focus and that player is Sancho. We’re still in negotiations, the athletic confirmed this last night.
Season in starts in 10 days, this saga is dead as a doornail in Germany. Seems to me like the Utd board just drags this on to suggest their fanbase that they've tried really, really hard, alas to no avail, due to those stubborn and ureasonable folks in Dortmund.

If Sancho was the player we really wanted, we would be bidding for him right now... if the atheltic confirmed we are in negotiations, other sources have confirmed it will not happen because there is no negotiation. The price is there, pay it or feck off.

I see. Despite me previously expressing that this one had died on the vine, the only thing that had me doubting was how much longer the transfer window is open. Somehow I had managed to forget the more important fact that the season is very close to starting and that teams would prefer to have settled squads (at least in terms of players leaving and having to find a replacement) with little to no further disruption.
To be honest, we have neglected RW for 6-7 years already. What makes you think the board would not add another year to that streak?
Dembele signed on the 25 of August and Aubameyang on the 31 January so they clearly sell late on in the window, if the price is right. In both cases they gave assurances that the players will be with them for the next season. It's not over until the window shuts.
If this is genuinely all about who blinks first which I think it is then we bid whatever it is we believe is a fair price the week of their first game and Sancho shows he isn’t in the right frame of mind to play that game. The price won’t be 120m euros up front once that happens.
After how chances of signing Thiago and Upamecano got shut down today Sancho is the only deal I can realistically see us working on/doing. A midfielder isn`t happening with VDB coming in and the CBs we`ve been linked with are too overpriced and I don`t see us paying up for them(Pau Torres 50m release clause too high for a rookie with just 1 good season and Monaco want Martial money for Badiashile even Leverkusen are looking elsewhere

So is that saying we would only consider a move for Thiago if we are unable to get Sancho,however it could also be a case of he's not a priority but if the opportunity did arise then we would be interested
We paid £80m for a defender... so yes, I do think so. Sancho is a smart investment for many reasons. Not saying it will 100% happen but I am convinced we are still negotiating. This isn’t over just yet. It would have been briefed and we’d be chasing another target now if that was the case. It’s been clearly briefed he is our number target before the transfer window even opened.

I take your point though, all for the PR spin. Just seems odd that Mitten would specifically say that he can’t see it being our ‘record-breaking transfer this window’, when the fact remains, if we get him at all this window (whether or not it’s in instalments), it’ll be our record deal.
We paid £80m in a non covid world. We have just spent £35m and our usual net budget per summer is approx £80m.
I would be happy if we signed him but it seems the longer this drags the less likely this will happen. If this does not happen in the next 2 weeks, do not be surprised if it doesnt happen at all.

That window we didn't expect Liverpool to do what they done and get a title. Watching Liverpool win the title, Arsenal, Chelsea, City strengthening and us not getting Sancho, I can see a big social media backlash.

Sancho remains the number 1 target, but any deal would need to be structured.
Looks like City are buying Messi.... Woodward needs to get a grip and push this Sancho deal through what ever it takes.
It’s not about City buying Messi, it’s about our squad being inferior to EPL leaders. We need to buy as many Sanchos as needed to liquidate this gap, and then, going forward, we will then be in a position to limit transfer spending to some average levels.
Otherwise, we will simply continue playing a second fiddle in the league - for God knows how long
