Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Agree. The only place this transfer is alive is this thread. Everyone else has moved on. Still hoping we get him, but looks it’ll have to be next window at the earliest.
Or so the Germans would have us believe ;)

It was all quite in the Van De Beek front apart from the initial speculation in May. But Tottenham trying to swoop in lit up Ed's & the Glazer's arse. A similar transfer bid from Real or Barca would do the same for Sancho.

These two need to be in United kits and hopefully very soon

Confirmation bias, its one of three pictures in the post, although its nice to see this one, it doesn't mean anything.

Yup and he looks quite good in red

Obligatory daily Sancho thread post here. Hoping to get to 1000 pages.

Question to the mods, when there is some sort of closure to the Sancho saga, do you lock down the thread and do we need to start a new one come November, or do you reopen the old thread? If that’s the case, is 1500 pages in play here?

I think we all expected him to be the one deal we got done this summer, but I can't blame the club if the reports are true and Dortmund wanted the entire 120m up front. That's absurd for any big transfer, especially in today's world. Hopefully they stop being pricks and take the installments, or we'll just have to go again next summer when we'll inevitably have more competition.

But by most reports they don't want it up front. They will take it over a few guaranteed payments in 1-2 years.

120 for Sancho like that is reasonable.

I want this so bad :(
Me too.

I've muppeted for a player after years and it really doesn't seem likely to happen this summer. Sigh.

VDB seems good and all but Sancho is on s different level of talent to the other links

While I still want us to sign sancho I'm at the acceptance stage of grief. Not sure what number that is tbh but I am there.

If we get a few in this summer I can wait a year. Not sure who else will be in for him next summer anyway.

Can you imagine if United shared this on social with a "You'll love to see it" comment. Play Dortmund at their own silly bollocks games.
Think the internet would explode

Would be good but on the downside they'd act even bitchier when we go back to them for Haaland in a year or 2

Afaik his release clause becomes active next summer an is supposed to be €75M I reckon for that fee he will have his pick of any elite club in Europe if he keeps developing like he has so far.

Aguero looks set to leave next summer. That's a worry.

Sky Sports saying he is still our number one target and that Dortmund have told him he is not leaving this summer anymore. Does say it's still possible if we pay the fee and Sancho agitates for a move, which he is willing to do when we place a formal bid.

So nothing new then. There's been no actual updates since Dortmund came out and told us it was done. I'm starting to think these outlets are just milking our interest in this saga when it maybe actually is over

I don't think the Sancho deal is dead yet. I have a strong feeling the clubs are privately discussing away from the media circus and once they make a breakthrough they will surprise everybody.

Yea, United have proven they can do this.

I was trying to remember the last priority signing we failed to get over the line due to us refusing to pay the money

Summer 2019 - Maguire
Summer 2018 - ?
Summer 2017 - Griezmann switched to Lukaku once Griezmann announced he wanted to stay at Madrid?
Summer 2016 - Pogba
Summer 2015 - ?
Summer 2016 - Di Maria?

Only players I can remember us missing out on due to money were Haaland albeit maybe that wasn't anything to do with money and Perisic but he wasn't viewed as a priority signing and came after substantial outlay on Lindelof, Matic and Lukaku already

Feels like you have to go back to Hazard under Fergie for the last time we really missed out on a top target due to money

2019 - Dybala and Bruno (Bruno signed in Jan 2020)
2018 - Perisic and Maguire (Maguire signed in 2019)
2017 - Griezmann
