Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I’d love to be a fly on the wall, just to see how they manage to make it last months.

Watzke : ''we want 120 mil for Sancho''
Ed : ''would you take 60 000 000?''
Watzke :''no''
Ed : ''60 000 001?''
Watzke :''no''
Ed : ''60 000 002?''
...

Yes, it's all Bruno's fault:rolleyes:

It's no secret his funds were part of our summer budget, Ole even alluded to the fact. It is a clickbaity article for sure, but it would make sense for us to not be able to justify the cost until we sell some assets

What are they saying, that there are no funds left after signing Bruno?

Strange article.
They even wrote the story wrong. The original article from Evening Standard says that sales need to be made to afford players AFTER Sancho not to fund Sancho`s signing which makes some sense and I`ve said it
The other 2 positions we reportedly want to invest in(CAM and CB) we are bloated we have 7CBs at least 2 need to leave to get a new one
In the CAM position we have 4 players(Bruno, Lingard, Mata, Andreas) at least 1/2 need to go to afford another one

Utd should offer Phil Jones as part of the deal.

Of course, they wouldn't be daft enough to offer his playing services. Instead, he'll be used as gargoyle atop of the stadium to keep evil sprits away.
Enough of this reference to his looks.

Apparently according to the Express, United just realized that the money they spent on Bruno isn't available for Sancho. At no point the Express believes that maybe United know how much money they have and whether they can structure a fair deal with Dortmund. The strange thing about football journalists is that they seemingly struggle with simple ideas like a club valuing a player at 90m and an other club valuing the same player at 120m, they also fail to understand that often clubs don't agree on a midway deal that's why many transfer negotiations fail and why clubs have multiple options. I mean, how long have Bayern tried to purchase Leroy Sané and failed to agree on a fee with City until this summer?

We have assets?

Because Dortmund's senior management are perennial liars, who have played this card on multiple occasions in the past. They might well be genuine now, but it's a case of the boy who cried wolf now. Why should we beleive them?

The second Sancho says : I want to leave - Dortmund will let him leave. Not that I am saying he will - but they wont keep a unhappy player if they can get close to £100 million for him. No club can in this climate. If Greenwood had told OGS that he wants to leave (and had no intention of changing his mind)- and Real offered £100 M - we would sell him.

It also begs the question; Why would a club knowingly enter protracted discussion with another club knowing that they don't have the funds in the first place?

The Express clearly didn't think that one through or I suspect that like a large part of the british press, they read the caf and surf on the idea that United are actually an incompetent club, which to be clear isn't the case, there are clubs that are better run but United isn't run by idiots. And they believe that United fans are idiots and will buy the story.

Set the narrative, Favre. ‘Jadon is an immature boy who has yet to become professional. That’s why he ran back to England.’

They are clearly desperately trying to force him to submit a written transfer request. #SanchON, happy Sancho day tomorrow

If any sane person actually gets their football news from the Express, they have to be nuts!

Another clickbait story reads that Ole has changed his mind and will now target other players who have already been mentioned in various outlets as far back as a 6 weeks ago.

So we finish 3rd and we ae happy to try again next season with the same group of players. Another saga with Sancho transfer, and IF we do get him that will be it for this year.

They must need the money.

Where's the link to their financial situation? I thought there was a meeting yesterday

Will finances be better next season?

Worse, probably. Unless COVID is put under control clubs will have endured another season of reduced TV and gate receipts. The thinking in waiting is Dortmund isn’t as well capitalized as us, so they may be more willing to negotiate next summer.

Those quotes from Favre. He doesn't seem convinced Jadon is focusing on Dortmund at the moment. He's already in Manchester.

What are they saying, that there are no funds left after signing Bruno?

Strange article.

In January some said Bruno was reinvesting the proceeds from last minute sales the previous summer, others said it was this summer’s transfer budget. Either way it was a big investment. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 60m we reportedly offered upfront is our entire transfer budget this window, even with ‘deadwood’ sales.

Plus the revenue from attendances which are also discounted for younger fans is now something of a double edged sword as they're likely to lose that for a good few months

I've been on flight tracker for 72 hrs without sleep. All I see are flights back from France and the like....

He needs to be professional. Something fishy.

Dortmund - coach Favre about Sancho: - Jadon is on his way

That'll do.

He is a superstar in England. Everyday there are new headlines, rumors and talk about big amount of money. That is not easy to just hide away

Nah, you're the only ones still talking about it lads

Problem is if finances get worse it will be bad even for Utd even we won`t be able to afford Sancho next year even if we wanted to after all the money we will lose so BVB`s "willingness" to negotiate will mean bupkis if we don`t have the finances to pull it off. It`s either we go all out for him now when we can afford him to a degree with zero competition or risk waiting next year where if finances do not get better we face having to wait till 2022 to get him on a cut price fee(and we wont be the only ones after him) or if finances get better and he has a good season/Euros we be part of a bidding war which we rarely ever win in nowadays. It`s more of a rock and a hard shell situation than people realize.

Bruno transfer surely came fro Lukaku monies.

Think this is the most boring saga I've ever seen us involved in.

Want the player above anyone else on the market, but feel totally indifferent to the saga of procuring him.

Sancho isn't the only player in the world we're looking at. If we can't get him then I'm sure we will strengthen in 1 or 2 other areas instead and try our luck on him again next year when fans are hopefully back in the stadium and we have more money to spend.

City have sold Sane and bought Torres n Ake for about a £20m net investment. We will make moves too.

I think we will keep trying for Sancho up to the last minute and lose out on other transfers. IMO

I can't see this happening

Roll on October. Not much worse in football terms in my opinion than a United summer transfer window. My inner Muppet is dead.

That sounds like the coach is setting the narrative for his inevitable departure... at least, that's what the muppet inside is telling me.

Basically Bruno is nervous that if we sign Sancho we will win an additional 10 penalties, taking our total up to 32. Bruno is nervous that his 100% penalty rate will flounder and that will confirm that Bruno is a dud — as according to rival fans all he does is score penalties, after all.
