Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I think this deal will get done but it's going to take time and a lot of compromise on both sides. Ultimately though, I think all parties will come to an amicable agreement and I don't think Dortmund are secure enough in their finances to afford to not sell Sancho in this window.

Why not? He seems in a very similar scenario to me as Robben was at Madrid in 2009. I could imagine a lot of people saying not to sign him in 09 and now retrospectively we should have done.
Many United fans I know turned their noses up at the prospect of signing Robben and Sneijder at the time.

Probably also because before Maguire, we bought Rojo, Bailly, Lindelof, and Blind. At midfield we went for Schneiderlin, Fred, Matic, etc...

Our big money signings didn't work out, but we were still able to sell them off for good prices.

Exactly, we can produce players at those levels quite regularly so we just need to focus on picking up those key players with big signings and limit the amount of transfers we are making.

Oh this one is interesting! I wonder what we will respond now? I have the feeling that BVB played us by pretending to negotiate but putting a fake deadline, and slowing everything down, so that the date cannot be met.

Personally, I blame Dembele for not finishing Liverpool off at Camp Nou in last season's Champions League. He chokes in high pressure situations which pretty much negates any natural talent he might have. I'd rather we sign no one than him, to be perfectly honest.

We keep saying this but zorc and Dortmund have laid the foundations of a take it or leave it scenario, which is not going to be amicable at all. Dortmund have taken full control on the narrative of this deal. No doubt classless in their dealings and the way it’s been handled but protecting their asset.

Because I think sancho would suit us better.

If you wanna sign both and play 442 then I’ll all for it

Sounds quite depressing. Greenwood also isn’t starting 50 games next season. Rashford will have to manage carefully with his back problems too
Jesus, you're trying your hardest to make it depressing .Just when I thought Rash and Greenwood were pretty good.Lighten up, this saga will come good in the end.

Exactly, a bad season riddled with injuries doesn’t finish off a player so young. He was so good before Barca.

He also gets invited to a bunch of different fan podcasts. He's actually quite busy in the work that he does.

I wouldn't say that he does lots of guesswork, though. He extends on some of the info that he gets, but he doesn't veer too far.

At the end of the day that all translates to one thing. This guy knows nothing.

Could be because you weren't trrying to lowball them back then
The transfer window has barely started. It is completely normal to start very low and then structure a deal over time. By the sounds of it, implemented a 3rd party negotiator and put on an unrealistic deadline before we made a "low-ball offer".
It wasn’t really cordial when Mkhi was signed. Mino apparently had to throw some chairs to get the deal done. Might not be United doing it but it involved us. Perhaps BVB is still holding a grudge and that silly tweet about Mkhi ‘enjoying the Europa’ with us
Hirst reported the two clubs are cordial and respect each other, so United were bemused when they put in a 3rd party for this. Mkhi was smooth between the clubs, but the problem relationship was more down to the player and the selling club, rather than between the clubs themselves.

I understand that Sancho (or RW position) is our 1st priority this summer, but there are other areas we need to bolster also, like a fast CB to partner Maguire, a creative midfielder as backup for Bruno. But so far I haven’t heard any rumors/news about putting up a bid for players in those positions. Also I don’t have any idea about potential buyers for our deadwoods.

I seriously hope that the board is working on multiple transfers simultaneously. If every other transfer depends on whether we get Sancho or not, then I fear we might have a terrible transfer window, resulting in panic buys at the end. Hoping for some activities soon after UEL is over.

Dortmund's leadership comes across as absurdly arrogant for a club their size (or any size really). Enjoy developing the player for another year i guess after which he'll be moving to where he really wants to be give his best years.

This is actually a very likely scenario, especially when they knew they have an extra year to play with (Sancho contract extension).

Still think they'll sell him for the right price though.

Like we did with Ronaldo?
Can’t really blame Dortmund here imo, if they after all chose to sell this summer, however...

If Sancho does end up leaving, how can they save face after saying things like this?

He wanted to go home and United turned his head. To be fair to Sancho we accepted on the terms we set. That's all I can think of.

Hang on he was saying it was very close 10 days ago. The guy is clearly full of shit.
He literally never said that.
Go look at his tweets and retweets from the 4th of August if you don't believe me. Also look at his replies too.
He's full of shit.
I just did some digging on Manchester United tweets from him on 5th August and 4th August. At no point does he say the deal between the two clubs is close.

In fact, he makes a point of stating there is still work to go in agreeing a fee between the two clubs. He says "it needs time". Is it you that's full of shit? If I've missed a tweet here then I'll respectfully retract but I can't see where he has suggested the deal was close.
PS. pasting the Auba tweet for @amolbhatia50k's pleasure (really it was an accident, and I don't know which tweet link to remove now )

He retweeted somebody saying its close. How is that any different?

He also tweeted himself that both clubs are confident an agreement will be reached 'soon' and that doesn't look true either.

He's a chancer mate. Not got a clue.
