Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Like we did with Ronaldo?
Can’t really blame Dortmund here imo, if they after all chose to sell this summer, however...
Yes, just like that. Except we actually won boatloads with him and after him which they haven't done and won't do. And it happened to us once and happens to them all the time. Just the small detail like that being different.

I never minded Dortmund. Really enjoyed watching them when Klopp was there. But they don't come across well here (or going by previous comments, ever). Agree that I'd sell him only for a big price as well. That's not really an issue. Every clubs right to expect others to meet their valuation and no issue if others disagree with that and are happy to walk away to other signings. Was merely commenting on how they speak in the media.

Go look at his tweets and retweets from the 4th of August if you don't believe me. Also look at his replies too.

He's full of shit.

You post like you caught Fabrizio Romano spanking your missus with a ping pong paddle or something.

He retweeted somebody saying its close. How is that any different?

He also tweeted himself that both clubs are confident an agreement will be reached 'soon' and that doesn't look true either.

He's a chancer mate. Not got a clue.
He hasn't said or retweeted anyone saying that. If you know that he has, find the Tweet and show us.

Just sick of all you 'but he's tier 1 mate' folk. He's a bullshitter like they all are.

I'm sure there must be a Di Marzio thread on here too saying the same thing. He had an absolute mare last summer and got loads wrong.

These guys don't know half as much as they claim yet they take the credit.

Romano on 4th Aug retweeted somebody saying it was close and also tweeted himself that day saying both clubs were confident it would be completed soon. He also didn't know about the contract extension so he's got no inside knowledge at all or he'd have known.

Ed Woodward right now

Yeah, I think we’re actually totally agreeing on this.

Need help. Sorry for unrelated comment. How do I get general forum priveledges?
There’s a qualification process. You need 8 likes to be able to read the general forum if I remember correctly. 10 likes to participate.

He's a chancer mate. Not got a clue.

As I've shown he has constantly said these things need time and was clear in stating the obstacle is the fee and the structure. This is clearly the issue as reported by other Tier 1 sources there-after.

You can say he doesn't have a clue all you want, but I've literally shown his own tweets from the date you mentioned, where he says that the deal is not agreed and it "needs time". That is kind of the opposite of him saying its close.

Him retweeting is far less of a criticism than his actual words. When he gives his own tweets, he hasn't really been proven wrong. I don't know why you think he's full of shit from tweets he never wrote FFS.

If Sancho does end up leaving, how can they save face after saying things like this?
will be interesting for sure. Dembele and Aubameyang were easier, they had agitated hard for their moves so Watzke and Zorc could just throw them in front of the bus. I can't see Sancho do go on strike, so no idea. Probably "we couldn't turn down such a ludicrous amount of money in times like these" or something along those lines.

I don't know how to do it.

Go look on his twitter feed. Scroll down to 4th August and you post the messages. I'm not lying. He retweeted Ed Aarons on the Guardian and also tweeted himself saying 'soon'.

Because you're lazy and unwilling to cooperate, I found the two Tweets that you were talking about:
His Tweet is a summary of the article that he wrote with Ed Aarons and Jamie Jackson. This info goes with what Daniel Harris brought out: we agreed on the overall fee; we are just disagreeing on the payment structure.

If you're wondering why this is different from Dortmund's own briefs & statements, keep in mind that Dortmund are not involved in the negotiations at all. They have hired agents to do the work for them. These agents are working to get the best deal for Dortmund, so Dortmund can easily claim that they haven't received an offer and that their demands are firm.

Looks like it’s time to move on. He would have been unbelievable at United. A true number 7 bombing down that right wing.

I’m the biggest muppet going, but even I can’t see this happening now:(

It’s one thing Zorc coming out and saying he’s staying and that’s final.

But these repeated statements by the club actually give me more confidence that a deal could be done. Sancho still hasn’t stated he wants to stay or confirmed it.

Dortmund seem to be trying a bit too hard to push the idea that the deal is off (possibly to scare Utd into rushing it). There is no need for them to keep making statements if they genuinely believe the deal is over and that he is staying now. If that was the case, then Zorcs statement would be enough and they wouldn’t comment on it again.

Am I just wishful thinking?

Fact - he never said a deal was close.
Fact - the clubs being confident of reaching and agreement soon, was still very plausible at the time.
Fact - him not knowing about Sancho's extra year doesn't mean he knows nothing.

You do know that journalism isn't binary right mate? It's not a case of "you know every little detail, or you know nothing". Of course, he didn't know about the extra year. That doesn't mean he has no inside knowledge whatsoever. What an odd jump to make from a journalist who has called countless correct transfers ahead of the curve.

Just seems odd to come out and say you definitely mean it if there’s still a chance of him leaving
They were being interviewed, right? I think another tweet showed the RTL source. I'd assume that they are saying whatever works for them right now, to reassure their fan base and/or make Man United sweat to in turn either blow up the transfer or get a higher fee).

 I don’t understand the frustrations towards journos. Unless it’s the British press, they’re just cnuts.

Also is that not what I said he'd done then???

He retweeted saying it was close. Turns out it wasn't. Also tweets that clubs confident they would agree soon. Also looks to be a load of shit too.

Stop looking up to these guys like they are gods. It's educated guess work a lot of it. He clearly doesn't have a clue.

If it means getting an extra 20-30 million in for the club by negotiating hard then I think they will sleep easy.

But who knows at this point. I believe it dead when we brief it's over, but it's not looking overly positive at the moment.

I've never known a transfer where so many people are publicly giving out high fives for a player supposedly staying with them. So many players and board members talking about Sancho and him being their player next season

They're (Dortmund) incredibly small time or they're trying to provoke a reaction

Which is it then Dortmund fans on here?

Why do you get so worked up over it, people can believe who they want to believe. It’s free choice.

You’ve had your say, we’ve heard it a number of times.

You think he has called lots of transfers ahead of others because of "educated guess work"?

Whats more, how do you know its bullshit that the clubs were confident of reaching a deal soon on 4th August? Dortmund thought it would reach a resolution because you know, 10th August. Man Utd likely thought the same because they had already agreed with the player. Is it so remote to report that the clubs were confident of a deal?

Out of curiosity, if he starts tweeting this window that a deal is reached, and then it breaks on BBC, and then we see Sancho in a 7 shirt with Manchester United --> will you then concede that Romano was probably right in his reports this window? Or will you call it "educated guesswork" and nothing more than a coincidence that the player he said was always in talks and on the radar just happened to sign for the club.

If hes retweeting it he's endorsing it. Its as good as for me. I don't retweet things I don't believe in. Do you?

And saying 'soon' is as good as close anyway. He's not got a clue but people will cling to anything on transfers it's unreal.

His mentions and retweets have done what he wanted it too though.

Not particularly. Wasn't it an English journalist who said we wanted Sancho first? And I'm talking months ago now not this last few weeks.

Top 5, 10 or 100 dumbest things a CEO of a major sporting club ever said?

We can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of. Watch this space.

Thing is, we are looking at what he actually says. And we hold him account to this.

It's not really our fault if you're looking at tweets he didn't write and concluding he knows nothing (him retweeting means he trusts the journalists but it's not his work, that's how I interpret this).

From the Duncan Castles podcast.

The deal does some to have stalled but what keeps me in is stuff like this from the club.

United usually just walk away and publicly end interest. This is different though and I'm not sure why. I definitely feel we don't know the full picture here.

Not particularly. Wasn't it an English journalist who said we wanted Sancho first? And I'm talking months ago now not this last few weeks.
Kajumba I think was one of the early ones. Romano was the journalist who continued on the route of them being talks, the terms being no problem and the deadline being fake.
Kajumba right now is more pessimistic than Romano, or so it seems anyway. In any case you're now saying Romano must still be shite because he wasn't the "very first" source. Not sure if you've grasped how to credibly judge journalists here - you've basically said even if Romano is right he should get no credit.

There's only one God that I look up to, and it's not Romano.

I don't see anything wrong with what Romano said there. At that stage, we had a personal agreement with Sancho, and we agreed on the 120 million Euro fee. The only thing remaining was the payment structure. Typically, clubs get that sorted out over a span of 2 weeks. We, however, have had this dragged out because the agents probably didn't like our terms. Dortmund have communicated what they have because they themselves have never been involved in the negotiations.

If you're going to blindly deny all of this info, then what do you think United have done regarding transfers so far?
