Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I'm not sure why we can't do both? Nobody is saying not to give our young players a chance. We're saying we should buy Sancho to pair him up with our young talents.

I get it and I'm not anti Sancho, I'm just pro our young talents. I use Rashford cause he only played cause there was not another fit striker in the club and the rest is history. Not saying he wouldn't have come through but his pathway would have been delayed. Signing Sancho at 100m doesn't pair him up with other young talents, the only thing they will have in common is their age. Also I think it's sets an unhealthy precedent playing that kind of money for unproven talent. This lad is not as good as Rashford today, so is he worth 130m?

He's 10x better as a wide player? but obviously not as a striker. Which is why we want him as a winger, rather than having to play Rashford wide.

For me I understand it, young English talent that's had a great season but 100m? I know he plays in a different forward position but what must Rashford be worth then? 130m? Yes great potential but not after one season and certainly not for the figures on here.

Forget the fee. It's just what's required to make Dortmund sell, not what he's worth. Same with Pogba, that's why people unfairly beat him with it too.

Was Rooney worth 30m at 18 back then? probably not, but it paid off in the long run.

Paying 90£ for Sancho is ridiculous. He has only one good season behind him. Better then to buy Ødegaard then from Real Madrid for 30£.

And then Sander Berge dm for maybe 35£
Biggest talent in that position in the world.
At those prices I'd take the lot!

How is he 10 times the player? Why can’t you make a point without ridiculous hyperbole? Rashford played wide as well in a tougher league and their stats are comparable.

Out wide. Rashford for me isn't a great wide player. He relies on kick and run football too much and doesn't have great control/ agility in tight spaces

Sancho is more talented than Rashford. If you were to compare Rashford at youth level to Sancho, it's easily in Sancho's favor. Rashford is our striker. Sancho is a wide player who is better than Rashford at dribbling due to superior technical ability with better decision making. So if it's Sancho at striker versus Rashford, well that's easily Rashford as the more talented striker. They're different players obviously.

So who would Sancho disrupt if bought? Greenwood and Chong. However, even if Sancho isn't bought, we're most likely buying someone because we need an upgrade and if that's the case, Greenwood and Chong are in the exact same situation. So that's not changing, Sancho or not.

If we're looking at talent, there is no reason to prioritize Chong over Sancho. Sancho is just flat out better, more talented, and younger. So Greenwood is the only player worth prioritizing if faced with that decision. And most of us see his position as a #9 in the future as an upgrade to Rashford if all things go right. So when envisioning our project, it's not Sancho or Greenwood. It's Sancho or Chong, and Greenwood or Rashford. That's unless our long term plan for either Rashford or Greenwood is as a wide player, which to me makes no sense as both are great goal scorers. It makes sense to start in that manner as they started to develop, but eventually I want Greenwood as our future #9.

Hindsight is an exact science. Can't forget the fee as it sets unhealthy precedents. He'd be the most expensive player ever in the prem and the top 5 in Europe. Just don't think at present we know whether he's good enough and even his own manager said he needs to work harder.

Why am I comparing them at youth level when I can compare them now? I take it you watch Sancho regularly? What you basing your view on? Are you a Dortmund fan? How often have you watched Chong?

I watch Chong practically every time. It's absurd to think he's as talented as Sancho who is younger, producing at a younger age when Chong is having a meh season for the u23s, and Sancho is superior both in technical ability and decision making. I like Chong btw. It's just that there is no argument.

You can compare them now, but Rashford is also 3 years older than Sancho. And Sancho is having a better season than Rashford has had at comparable ages. This to me is irrelevant though because I believe Rashford is a #9 and Sancho is a wide player. Sancho's technical ability is better than Rashford's which allows him to dribble past players at a greater rate than Rashford. As I said though, two different players.

Why are we even comparing Sancho and Rashford since they would not compete for the same spot? We need a rw(dont we?) and Sancho fits there. Rashford plays striker or on the left preferrably.
Exactly

Yes he does.
Yeah, Rashford does. It's just that Sancho does it better. But hey that's not a problem because Rashford is the superior goal scorer. Comes with the territory when players fit different position profiles.

Ed Woodward needs to flex Manchester United's big club muscle and make offers Michael Zorc and Edwin van der Sar simply can't refuse. 120m plus Chong for Jadon Sancho and 100m plus TFM for Matthijs de Ligt. Now that United have a proper United manager in place, let's back him with generational talent at positions where generational talent would have a significant impact.

Zorc won't leave his hometown club Dortmund, and why would we want Vds when he doesn't do the job we want him to do? Marc Overmars is the technical director at Ajax.

I'm not buying Zorc or VDS, I'm buying Jadon Sancho and Matthijs de Ligt.
 had a nice little laugh now gents. Thank you.

I asked what you basing your opinion on Sancho on? Do you watch him as much as Rashford and Chong? It's like a Dortmund fan having an opinion of Rashford?

That's impossible as I have watched them since they were in the u18s and even though I did watch Sancho for the u18s, it was only when he played against United (which he dominated btw). I do watch him at Dortmund though. I'm a United fan though so the standard you set is an impossible hurdle to climb.

To be exact we play Sancho right and left in the offensive midfield. When we are in play he often switches with the other winger, and we dont play "wide", we try to open up opponents defence, if its through the middle fine, if not we also take the option to play through the wings (with help of the Fullbacks), but we run to the line and cross very rarely. For this style of possession Sancho swaps sides, cuts into the middle, playing link play with Reus, Götze, Guerreiro, Paco, Witsel, and the Fullbacks. In transition play / counter attacks every attacker can do what he wants, they intentionaly make the right decisions, Reus, Sancho, Guerreiro and Paco can do this very well, got technic and the pace for this.

Have watched him a number of times this season and his dribbling and close control looks ridiculous.
Reminds me somewhat of Hazard.

If we missed out on Sancho everyone on here complaining about the fee won't be saying that when he's an absolute superstar for whoever he signs for.

No-one mentions VvD's fee anymore... funny that.

I actually think we will go in for Sancho this summer. Makes too much sense for us. If we were to think of who'd pay the £.

City - He won't go, plus they really have zero need for him.
Liverpool - A lot of money to pay for someone who'd be competing with Salah for a position.
PSG - Maybe. They'll be looking for another superstar, but is Sancho enough of a name for them? I could see them fighting Madrid for Hazard.
Madrid - really depends what they do. They will spend big. I think they will be the biggest competitior.

And why does it matter if I'm from Norway??
You think it's just people from all other countries than Norway that knows football??

Last time I checked it's been several good Norwegian players in United. And Sander Berge will become a superstar it's that simple. In a better team were he won't be so much better than the rest he will get less tackled ergo less injuries.

Matic still have one more season in hes legge for United. Could be a good thing for Berge to start with playing so Matic can get some rest and imagine what he can learn from the man.

Is a reason why Ajax wants to buy Ødegaard from Real cause he has it all. And this season he's been very good in Vitesse. And I have a feeling Solskjær would get the best out of him now instead of when he will cost 100£ or more. He has really started to live up to the hype and he is just 20.

In my mind, Solskjær cannot afford to bring in Norwegian players like Ødegaard and Berge, it will just be Cardiff all over with Berget, Eikrem, Dæhli, etc. Good footballers, but not what we need at the moment. Both Ødegaard and Berge are talented players, but neither are good enough to play in our starting 11. They may become world class players in the future, but there are a lot of players with similar potential around. The pressure on both the manager and the players when bringing in players from their own country should not be underestimated.

"Intermediaries have contacted the Old Trafford club about the potential of signing Coutinho, who is currently struggling at Barcelona.
United do not feel they need to prioritise his position, though, and instead want players further forward. Sancho fits the profile, and United are prepared to make a move of over £80m this summer."

I can't stop masturbating!

I don't think Madrid are a competitor for Sancho, realistically speaking.

Firstly, they already have a couple of young forwards in Asensio and Vinicius and most likely need some experience to mix it up. Secondly they already seem to have Hazard lined up. Thirdly, a lot hinges on whether they'll be able to get rid of Bale. And fourthly, we're creaming our pants over Sancho not only cause he's a good player but also because he's English. I don't feel there's as much excitement over him in Spain. And if they spend 9 figures on a forward, Flo will want it to be someone the fans get really excited about.

I don't know, I just can't see it but weirder things have happened.

Can't believe people here are comparing Chong to Sancho :wenger:. Aside pre season, Chongs performances for the first team have been underwhelming, there's every chance he potentially might not make it here.

I'm not writing him off by any chance but Sancho has hit the nail as one of the best teenagers in world football, Chong hasn't done enough to write that script yet.

Gomes and Garner for me are the two who I feel will break through within atleast two / three seasons, Gomes is the profile of footballer who will make it in the modern game, that's why Barca were sniffing around his contract situation. He has the highest ceiling out of all our youth prospects tethering with Greenwood

Came here to post that tweet. Was unsure on his credibility, sounds like you lot have answered that question.
Still seems like the most likely outcome is he stays at Dortmund. Next summer who knows but we need a right winger so if we get one this summer, we might miss out on Sancho.

A teenager with one successful season in the Bundesliga. insane fees. this is what happens when you miss the boat though and Dortmund did the same with Dembele. They just sold Pulisic too so will be in no mood to sell most probably. Perhaps a cheeky Hazard bid as he has 12 months left. Eriksen maybe?

If we miss out it wont be because of the fee, it would because we didnt get top 4 or he chose somewhere else.

Aye you think Hazard is more likely than Sancho. Makes a lot of sense

This obsession with not buying another team’s player because they will block our own player is absolutely ridiculous. Do people not realise that the very second Sancho signed for United, he’d also be a Manchester United player, just like Chong? So what then? It will then be off to the Neymar thread to say we shouldn’t sign him because we have Sancho!

Chong himself wasn’t born here. He came to Manchester United and made it ahead of the likes of Indy Boonen or other wise players he met who were already here. Nobody said not to sign him because we already have a kid in his position. Now aching IS the kid in his position. And sonit continues. The competition goes on in order for Manchester United to have the best player we can possibly get. The best will survive. If Sancho came and ultimately proved not good enough, he too will be sold. Should we have not signed Martial because Januzaj must get all the games he’s entitled to at United?

I can understand not wanting another team’s player to be picked ahead of ours for the national team or something. But to not want one player to be picked for Manchester United ahead of a different player at Manchester United, who is not as good, is weird. If Sancho joined, he will be supported as a United player just like Chong.

Sancho is 18...I'd very much doubt he's that short sighted and fussed that he will miss out on CL for 1 year...

Please be true.

The kid is insanely talented.

We have to get a good chunk of the best English talent if we are going to be a top team again.

England have the hottest kids in Europe coming through. We have to take advabtage.
