Oh really?

Sancho in his first season had 5 goals 3 assists

Defensive winger has 5 goals in half a season.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I think any player would do better coming into current united vs coming into last season united.

That is also very debateable.

Start of last season there was alot more optimism than start of this.

Its just how the seasons panned out.

Sancho also hasn't done all that great this season.

Hopefully they both find form.

I've seen nothing from Sancho to support this belief. You could argue that it's a wash between the two, but Sancho has been every bit as average as Antony up to this point. At least Antony is out there fighting through it and not taking a mental health break from the team. I'm sure the pressure on Antony has been very difficult for him to deal with as well.

Agreed. Don't remember a single match where Sancho looked anything more than slightly above average.

A fully fit Sancho would be miles better than that "defensive winger" we have in right wing. I can't wait.
I think you are making a giant assumption that the difference between Dortmund Sancho and United Sancho is just fitness. Let us see how it goes. As I said, I am not so hopeful.

Surely the next week is set up for him now. Two home cup games against beatable opposition. 30 mins against Reading than a start vs Forest?

Isn't it pure speculation that he is ready to play? Ten Hag didn't say much right

You would think so. There's no easier games to introduce him, I'd be concerned if he isn't back in the squad on the weekend to be honest.

All this love for Sancho is mind boggling. It was the same for Martial at the start of the season. Players seem to get better when they don’t play!

Definitely seems to be the case. People expecting him to start against Reading or Forest next week when he hasn’t even made the bench in the first leg here, and also expecting him to be a contributor this season is probably way too optimistic.

Strawman exaggerations like this don’t help from the opposite side either. You’ve fans hoping he finds his Dortmund form on one side then those like yourself who want to write him off.

Lad hasn’t played in literally months, can’t everyone just wait & see.

A bit different reintroducing him away from home and at Old Trafford. I fully expect him to return in a fairly low pressure and welcoming environment. You’d think this was the perfect week to give him some game time.

Players often do get better by not playing, the truth is we haven’t really missed him because there wasn’t a lot to miss.

I hope he comes back a different player to what we’ve seen at Utd so far but it’s a big ask given circumstance and we may have to wait until next season which will be make or break.

A game against lower league opposition or a cup game where the tie is already won? He might not start if Ten Hag wants to gradually phase him back in, but there won't be too many kinder fixtures to re-introduce him if we're going to do it this season.

Of course he’ll play and contribute this season

I like Sancho a lot. Pre season he looked great but something happened mentally. If he can get to peak fitness and enjoy his football again we have a talent.

Be great if some good days training is rewarded with a spot on bench against Reading

Great chance he's on the bench against reading and gets some minutes. Probably first start in the second leg again at forest considering we're 3-0 up.

Really hope he can get some minutes before the Barcelona tie. Remember him having a quality game in Nou Camp for Dortmund

I hope Pellistri gets first crack at the RW spot on the weekend and we can see him for at least an hour ...the young man deserves it.

And there are bunch of people here even believe his poor form is due to his mental illness (which was totally baseless anyway, it’s all imagined on their own mind) and called for our unconditional support. If that is not blind love I don’t what it is.

It's not unconditional. I fully support this manager, and if this is what he thinks is the right path for Sancho, I'm all in and excited to see him refreshed and reconditioned.

If you can't back your players, especially high potential ones in scenarios like this, what are you even supporting this club for? To just shit on anything positive that might happen?

I wonder which position EtH will play Sancho on his return!

Fast forward to next season and if Pellistri and Amad both settle into the squad then the wide positions are stacked!!!

Rasford, Antony, Garnacho, Pellistri, Amad...and Sancho!

Shame none of them can play the Bruno role, because he has no real competition for his position at present.

I'm wondering off topic slightly now...I hope we get to see Sancho against Reading (at least a sub appearance if nothing else)

You mean... Support and hope for a promising young winger, hope that he gets back to his best form and shows the talent that led to us spending 75m on him? Yeah, mind boggling to show him some love and support. That's the word...

I dont think anyone has said Sancho is the missing piece or we miss him, or anything.

Most people are actually hopeful, most posts are saying they hope he can find form and fitness because we need him in the season.

Reasons? We have a small squad and Sancho is a huge talent, why won't fans look forward to seing him? The biggest reason everyone says they want to see Sancho is because we have not been that great going forward and need numbers.

Yes, do not support our struggling players and just linch their effigies or smth./sarcasm.

I can see Amad playing the David Silva AM/RW role, he's not that quick to play out wide, and is quite technical to play in the center.

Athletic reporting that he could be back for the Reading game. Ten Hag said he would decide after Friday’s training session.

“He is training with the team and we will see, so he’s improving, he’s making steps and we will make the decision after training.

“I said he’s on the way back, he’s making steps, he’s back in team training and we have to see when he’s ready to go back into games.”

I was expecting him to return as a bald man after finishing his Shaolin Monk training in the mountain

I think ETH has handled this whole Sancho saga fantastically. Mental health is everything, you need to be totally clear in your head to be able to compete at the highest level. First you need to be able to sort out your head, after that you can focus on the physical aspects to get to the beast mode, and then - in the end - the hard work will pay off.

Rashford is a good example but vice versa. He tried to push it through injuries, but in the end if you're not physically 100%, you cannot extract from your body the effort required at this level - and he should have taken the surgery earlier when it was obvious it was needed. Playing through pain or in wrong mindset is detrimental to the team objectives.

We all know what Sancho is capable of and I hope he has beaten his demons and we will see the results on the pitch - he can be the great player we hoped he would be.

Totally agree.

We will see how it unfolds but I’d imagine Sancho will have a lot of respect for EtH and will want to work hard for him.
