Sort of. Personally, I don’t think we can simply extrapolate what he’s produced at Dortmund and immediately paste it into the PL with United. In fact, I expect some initial struggle. Which makes him a little more similar to the others, potentially for the first year. Only with loads of games willnhe get up speed, but I don’t expect much immediately. And because of this, I can’t help wonder what the same loads of games would do for Greenwood and Amad. All three of these are young players. 20 games is all it takes one to pass another, I focus more on ability and ingredients than achievement at this age. Because a player has played 60 games less at 18 doesn’t really mean much. He just hasn’t started yet. I remember getting into a debate last summer with someone on here who I can’t recall, who was insisting to me that Williams was better than Laird simply because he’s played and Laird hasn’t. Which at 19 years old each, is not that relevant. None of their stories have been written yet.

Ooh ok i get where you are coming from, Sancho's experience in BL wouldn't guarantee he would be up to speed with PL immediately (he might but not guaranteed).

For Amad, i truly think he was brought in with an eye to the future, he is immensely talented and was available so the club decided to bring him in, and Sancho is being brought in to improve the first squad immediately, at least this what i think the club is planning.

Saw what looked like Utd doing promotional or marketing photography on Stevenson square outside corner boy at 1030 today.

Guys in the photos being taken looked a bit like Sancho, though obviously not him as he's with England squad and wearing Utd zip up street wear top, smart casual.

Read in to it what you will .
Absolutely nothing then. Probs just for Utd store website.

I'll look into this when I get to work.

If something's going on in the Northern Quarter I'll find out.

Please announce Sancho and Camavinga on the same day.

Tbf that's due to him having one less year on his contact rather than us being good negotiators.

When you take that into consideration it's not much different. 95m Euros for a player with two years on his deal, wants out and can't really get into an England team that isn't all that is incredible business by Dortmund. We are the only club in the world who'd pay that for him and it seems we are.

Although him not getting in the England team may not be exactly a reflection on Sancho himself and more to do with questionable selection policies from Southgate.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't.

You are wrong on the bolded, Barca paid 150M for Dembele and he didn't do much, Atletico paid 120M for Felix, he didn't much as well, plenty of clubs pay huge fees for players, not only us.

Clearly can't read. I said him. Who else is bidding for Sancho? Please enlighten me.

Clearly no one as he wants to come to Utd and the deal has somewhat been in place for over a year. Are you saying that we're getting ripped off?

It's obvious to me that nothing major will happen here until he's finished with the Euros. That could be as early as the end of this week, if England get knocked out by Germany, or as late as mid-July if England make it to the final which is on the 11th.

Sit back and relax.

We could easily announce that we've agreed a fee with Dortmund and the transfer will be subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical after the euros etc.

Why would we? Everyone knows its happening, might as well wait so they can do a fancy elaborate announcement. This is a done dealio, a little tweet isn't going to make me anymore relaxed about it. Onto the next one.

I think we'll knock Germany out and the path will be clear to the final.

I wouldn't go that far perhaps but I don't think we're getting a good deal at that price personally.

This week is the week

I'd say that's a fair price given the profile of the player. Driving it down from 108 to 78 (I'm sure some of the add-ons will kick in so I'm just rounding it for easy calculations) albeit taking a year is good deal in the end. With the 30 we saved we got Amad and Pellistri. Although the former's transfer could end up costing more - I wouldn't mind as that would mean his performances have been good. Although who knows what kind of add-ons are mentioned in that transfer. 18 million in add-ons are surely scattered in various 'creative' clauses.
I'd love to read what those are. If anyone has detailed article about it.

On to Varane for 45 mil

I get that, in that the track record of players joining the PL after succeeding in the bundesliga is mixed at best.

Why wouldn't we? If all the papers say it's done we may not want to hold off. Or Dortmund may want to get it out of the way etc. Various reasons why it could be agreed and announced pending completion before the Euros end.

watch him rip the german team apart on Tuesday and Dortmund stick £20m on the fee
They promised Sancho that he can leave for a certain price. They won't break their word, otherwise young talents won't join them in the future knowing they won't be allowed to leave when a good opportunity comes along.

I’d be very careful about calling it a clear path to the final. None of these surviving teams are to be taken lightly. Especially given England's history to underperform.

But yes, if England get past Germany they are the strongest team in that side of the draw and if they fail to reach the final then it will be seen as a failure of Southgate.

He literally explained in the post you quoted a valid reason why we wouldn't. If a deal's been struck there's no reason for either side to announce anything while the player can't pass a medical, sign and get formally presented. How would announcing a verbal deal "get it out the way" when nothing can officially be signed while the player's on international duty.

There was no reason to announce we’d agreed a fee for Lukaku pending medical. We still did it.

So no other club would pay big money for one of the most promising young attacking players in Europe?

Do you really believe that?

i had been a little concerned that we seem to be having a free run at a player that you’d expect to be in demand at a lot of clubs if he’s as good as claimed. why is it seemingly only us interested in playing ball? sancho is seemingly available at a price not unobtainable to a lot of clubs. i’m sure with some creative budgeting 80m isn’t out of reach for the majority of the bigger cl teams.

i took it upon myself to phone 20 or so big clubs and managers to try and get the inside scoop. did they attempt to get a sanchon or was it never sanchon or a complete sanchoff?

the lady at city’s ticket office was completely gormless. though she did admit to being a bit taken back as it was the first time the phone had rung since she started work there 6 years ago.

i managed to get through to arteta and ask him if he was interested in sancho, he seemed a little distracted as he was trying to shave his head and only really asked what pep was doing with regards to sancho. i got through to southgate and he’d never even heard of him.

hopefully it’s just a case of sancho wanting manchester and won’t consider a return to city. that he wants to be a big player at a big club, not just a cog in a machine like city or bayern. alongside us having 80m we can give upfront.

Huh? Lukaku was on hols in LA at the time, in the same villa as Pogba. He passed his medical and signed the contract in LA the day after the deal was announced. Sancho is on international duty for an unspecified time
