I just can't bring myself to care anymore. I've been desperate for us to sign him since the summer he was rumored to be leaving City. But I just feel numb to any excitement these days. It'd feel like putting a cherry on a cake that is half baked.

I'm spent after the investment I put into it last summer, and like you I've wanted him for years.

Now it will just be a relief to get it done with, rather than cause for celebration.

We could do with a hand from sancho and his camp to push through a move. He needs to tell Dortmund he wants to join us!

Feck that.... I've just booked a tattoo!

I have booked an appointment with my plastic surgeon to change my face from a Rooney lookalike to a Sancho lookalike.

This a top top top United fan for you in case you are wondering. Commitment.

Am I the only one who looks at that fee and thinks they can jog on? Anything more than 80m in this market is fecking insane. Same as the ridiculous price of 55m for a 28 year old CB in the last year of his contract. Football is genuinely in its own little bubble that will soon burst hard.

Sounds like we're running it back with the same dance.

We want to sign him, but only for a price we want to pay. Can't see this ending quickly

+10m if he wins the Ballon
+2m if he wins the CL for next 3 years
+2m if he finishes top scorer next season
+2m if he stays fit all season for 3 years
+2m if he celebrates goals by walking on his head
+2m if he scores 29 headers off his face next season

Yeah at this point it would be over paying for what wouldn't even be a guaranteed starter. CM and CB are bigger holes to fill for us in the starting 11.

What do you think we should do?

So is it report Dortmund want 80 mil plus 20 in bonuses? Or are we trying to make a bid of 80 with bonuses?

Cmon man, you need to make them realistic

Get the deal done. Dortmund aren't budging, it's more important for us to get it sorted so we can move onto other targets.

We played this game last season and let Ole down, we can't do that again. Is saving maybe 5-10m really that important over potentially losing the target?

Dortmund trying to fleece us again, and this year we will cave in. I have no doubt we will sign him but in current market we should not be paying anything over 70mil
Still feel Chelsea will come into this, causing us to panic and pay higher fee.

https://theathletic.com/2631466/202...y-signing-jadon-sancho-as-negotiations-begin/

Laurie Whitwell in the article says:
  1. Negotiations have begun with Dortmund over Sancho, with them expected to take a lower price than 120m pounds this summer
  2. United want to pay around 80m pounds but Dortmund 20m more in addons, however discussions so far point to a compromise
  3. Ideally, they would like to wrap up the signing before the European Championship starts next weekend but it is recognised that with Sancho now having joined up with England this has added complications
  4. Rest some talk about Trippier saying how he wants to comeback and Varane's price is much higher than 35m quoted in the press.

Wait, these figures are all over the place. Dortmund never demanded 120 mil pounds last year (thats nearly 140 mil Euro), they wanted that in Euro.

Same with the numbers this year. If Dortmund would want 80mil + 20mil pounds, it could total to around 115 Mil Euro, which is a higher demand than anything reported from reliable sources thus far. The sources are similarily consistent in the sum that is needed to satisfy the gentlemen agreement between Sancho and Dortmund this year as they were last Summer. The target point is 100 mil Euro, some report that Dortmund would accept easily to obtain add ons as part of the deal (models like 90+10 or 95+5 circulate), other state that they want it as fix sum.

If United would be already ready to pay 80 mil pounds, simply slapping 5 more mil in realistic addons on that down the road would probably already do the trick.

Pussy!

That’s an excellent plastic surgeon that you’ve got there.
Not often that you find a bloke who can make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

If it would be the latter and under the circumstance that the bonuses would not be nonsensical, Sancho would already wear red.

80M pounds is nearly a 100M euros, how much more do BVB want? I thought that’s the price they wanted for the player this year as last year they wanted 120M euros

7 Mil Euros, because 80 Mil pounds is not "nearly" 100 Mil Euro, but 93 and in the current climate 7 Mil Euro is actually quite a lot of money.

Thanks for pointing it out.
Actually the article says that you wanted 120m Euros last summer, United are ready to spend 80m pounds and Dortmund want 20m more in addons. I wrote the first point wrong, apart from that it's all correct.

What a load of crap this is......If we wanted Sancho all along and Dortmond is flexible in price, why we wait till now and come up with this crap about waiting for sign before euros...

This is what is so wrong with the club....Imagine Sancho having a great Euros and Dortmund wants another 10m...and we spend the rest of the window negotiating and may finally sign him for the same fees on last day......Get business early for god sake

Yeah I know right! All you gotta do is press “X” & boom ya got him, took all of 3 seconds! Oh wait….we’re not playing Fifa? I thought we were!

Drives me nuts that this seems to happen so regularly. How hard is it?

€85m (£73m) is the last demand I’ve heard from Dortmund.

Sancho for £70-73m is a good deal for us.

Seal the deal ASAP.

Ok, so at least the demand last year is correct in the article. Still, if the current demand of 80+20 mil is really supposed to be in pounds, it feels way too high, thats 93+23 mil in Euro.

People need to understand that Dortmund is not in the position to "haggle" or "fleece" anyone here as the limit for how much they can demand of a buyer has been set nearly two years ago when Sancho signed his current contract. The treshold has been set already which is why it is so universally reported in German media. The only negotiation range that remains is below that treshold not over it.

Borussia Dortmund can also not afford to break that agreement either, even if it is not in writing. It would tank their reputation as club and create far more problems down the road, especially now, after Sancho held up his end of the bargain last season.

In that case... The Stockport runner-up is telling you for years "some day you will be mine" and does not make any move forward except this promise. Is that really loyalty?

Miss Universe just comes to you "I want you now".

What is the better option?
Threesome

What if the negotiations are around the structure of the deal rather than the final value and deferring a portion of it this summer is the difference between getting Varane and a CM or just getting Sancho?

Others are reporting £80m + £20m in add ons.

The good news is reports are saying talks are happening so the dialogue is happening.

The bad news is I'm not sure we will see a fair value, I just hope we don't walk away again.

Obviously it's impossible to know the ins and outs, I just don't want us to miss out again. Last season everybody seemed so sure it was a done deal then look what happened.

We desperately need a player of Sancho's quality, I hope the club don't mess this up as he seems to only want us.

Bingo.

We’ll settle this year at something around 70-75 with 20 of add ons such as winning the league etc. That’d be a fair deal considering how strong he finished the season.

Negotiations will be much easier as the two clubs don’t appear miles apart like last year.

Yep, I think the fact that the article states that there is room for compromise on both sides, should suggest we are going to get this deal done at a price where both can equally herald the deal as a triumph. Kinda like how the Bruno deal went.
