I think Berger and Fjortoft both showed themselves to be unreliable the other day when flip flopping over whether the RN article was correct or not.

As far as the reliable sources in England are concerned.. the deal is progressing and should get done.
As far as the reliable source in Germany is concerned.. we've made a bid which is being analysed.

It's difficult to not feel positive about this happening

Be
Like I said earlier I don't buy Berger's figure of €85m it's definitely a little higher than that which suggests a deal is not far off and less need for panic

Thats because Berger is talking shit

Dortmund really love to milk us yet consistently give Bayern all their best players for feck all
That’s because we are the easiest club to milk.
No it's not.
It's simply that some select few of you guys are highly confused, uninformed, hysterical, and paranoid.

If BVB consistently gave us their best player for 'feck all', believe me, we'd be signing Sancho

Barca paid like 140m for Dembélé who, while insanely talented too, had nowhere near the consistent record of Sancho.
Chelsea paid 60m € for a Pulisic who had only one year left on his contract and spent the last season at BVB on the bench, benched by a certain 17 year old... Sancho.

Stop crying like little babies, or old men. You're not being treated unfairly. Noone's out to get you.

It's just a transfer. You're buying a player. That player costs money. It's the most normal thing in the world.

And yet we've still got a bunch of fans that insist we "just pay the price they want!!" and they also complain about us getting rinsed on every transfer.
Because everyone know that in the end we gonna Pay what they ask for maybe in a month or 2 months, during winter transfer Window or next year but they gonna get It.
I bet in the end full price for Sancho is gonna be exactly what BvB asked for first.

And they were both terrible deals that rinsed the buying club? How are these any sort of examples that back Dortmunds position?

The poster was claiming that United are the "easiest club to rinse". When really it's just the market.

If you think the market is overheated, fair enough. And in the wake of Neymar's sale it surely was.
Still, both deals weren't really terrible at the time. Pulisic is well worth it, and Dembélé had unbelievable bad luck in injuries, if we aren't assuming that Barca mismanaged his recoveries too.

Besides, how is this about "backing up Dortmund's position"?
Can I remind you that you are the ones who want to buy the player? Why are you treating this as some bitter, existential face-saving battle?
Just stop losing your collective shits over a simple transfer..
The insecurity is real

Becoz its not their money! I bet the same people arent half as generous with their own money when stumping up money for a Mars bar.

I always hate it when your colleagues or the employees spend the company's money like its someone else's or free money. They should spend the company's money like they would their own.

Yeah, agree with all this. And these would be the same people who moan when the company then doesn't give them the bonus.

But going back to United, think we all know that we need a few players and we've been accused of spending ridiculous amounts of money on dud players. City have yet to spend more on a single player than us but yet have spent lots. It can be done. We just have to shake off the past image that we will just spend big money on a single player.

Internet fans get extremely over emotional about transfers, I will argue particularly when it comes to Manchester United, and to be fair, that's a two way thing - the media, even German journalists can't help but enjoy the stupid amount of interaction they get when they post stuff related to our club - and moreso with super positive or super negative news. So you will get lots of overly emotional responses - we are geared and primed that way and journalists feed it.

Well, I think most people haven't forgot the shambles of this same saga last summer, where we thought they'd come back, cap in hand, to take our reduced offer. Most people are probably just as annoyed about the fact that we've been after the guy for around 2 or 3 years and still haven't worked out a fecking price or even established a decent enough relationship with Dortmund that we can just sit and honestly hash it out.

But we also have to factor in the change in climate. No one is in the same position, financially, as we were 3 years ago.

Also, we have to be seen to be not push overs. We have a lot of wrongs to right over our past conducts in the transfer market, which will definitely hurt us in the short term.

I'm pretty confident we've negotiated the deal that suits all parties. We know both clubs like a bit of bravado in the media. Both will want to say they got the better of the deal.

And then absolute clowns like Fjorthoft and Falk become international twitter stars and we have to see their annoying faces constantly. That's why I'd be for toning it down and being patient.
I don't even want to know how many followers Falk has gained by just feeding into update-hungry requests from PL fans without actually having anything to report.

Let´s be real here, this thing has become more than a running joke that is told out of ignorance than anything else. The last purchase of a Dortmund player by Bayern Munich was Mats Hummels five years ago, the third and final significant purchase and the only one Dortmund actively agreed to (Lewandowski ran down his contract and joined as a free agent because they refused a low bid a year prior and Götze was signed via a release clause). That transfer cost them 35 Mil. € for a defender with one year left on contract. No defensive player with that kind of contract situation had cost more at that point. He was even the overall record holder for a short while until United payed 42 Mil. € for Mkhitaryan the same Summer.

That is neither "consistently" nor for "feck all".

No worries guys... within 48 hours we'll have both Varane and Sancho done pending medicals. My norwegian neighbour Jan-Åge told me that

We're walking away,
From the troubles in this deal
We're walking away,
We're walking away,
To find a better deal

But we now truly realize,
Some clubs dont wanna compromise,
We saw them with our own eyes,
Spreading those lies, yeah..

I'd say it's because we have become rather notorious for dithering in the market and then losing out or waiting and overpaying somewhere else further down the line.
Some fans haven't got over the days where SAF would contact a player and there it was, sold. We are a different club these days and we live in different times. If we'd had some semblance of success in the last 2 years then I could see transfers occurring a lot smoother but we haven't. Then there is the thing of the Euros...

Have you seen the price per kilograms of Mars bars? It's a rip off if you buy them in packages of 5+ and literal financial crime when bought individually.

So what’s the latest word on the street...

A week ago we were £10m short

Now this week we’re just like £5m short?

I think that's partly because of Left hand, Right hand syndrome.
The Left hand counts every pound going towards incoming transfers, whilst the Right hand carelessly spunks away multi millions in new contracts.

I have to say I agree with the BDL president on this one to be fair.

I just hope the ones saying "pay whatever it takes" won't also be the ones saying "we overpaid for Sancho, he's nowhere near worth the price" if he doesn't come in and instantly score and assist 15 goals in his first 10 matches.

Everyone knows Zehner id the BDL president, Hansi is just the loutish rapscallion who's hopped up on his first WKD.

Is that the case? Maybe you give some recent examples for that?!

Or was this just some random footballing phrase, or are you still refering to Lewandowski's transfer, which is almost a decade ago and was only for free because he run out of contract (because Dortmund actually refused to sell before)?!

The one that always struck me was the Hummels one, because of how adamant he was that he was loyal to Dortmund. But since then it has mainly been sales to the premier League and that strikes me as smart. They deliberately shifted their stance on transfers to Bayern didn't they.
