Jack Rodwell | Sold to City

I must be missing something on these rodwell rumours, I havent see him kick a ball in the premiership, hes never stood out in any game ive seen.
20m would get you a lot more on the continent

I have a strong feeling we will be signing this lad in the summer.

I also have a strong feeling he will develop into a class act!

I think we will sign Rodwell Young and Steklenburg

Not a bad shout really, if everyone is honest i suspect that is a more financially realistic list than De Gea, Modric/Sneijder and Sanchez.

Your 3 will probably cost about £40m, the muppet 3 will cost probably twice that. Hope i'm wrong but i just can't see us spending that type of dough. Especially the £30-£40m being touted for either Sneijder or Modric.

In truth i would be ecstatic if we signed De Gea, Rodwell and Sanchez. That would do me nicely.

Do people who watch him regularly really think he'll be better than De Jong or De Rossi or De Makelele? He's no good if not only as a DMC. Doesn't provide anything special going forward.

It would make no sense to by 2 back up players. Next summer we will most likely buy a player to replace Hargreaves as cover and a starter to slot straight into the first 11 midfield.

You are right we do need more than Rodwell Chief, i would like Modric too but can anyone seriously see us spending the type of money Levy would demand?

I would happily take Parker as a replacement for Hargreaves, but i would be very surprised if we were to sign either Modric or Sneijder for the kind of fees expected.

My preference would be Banega, he does a little bit of everything and with our current 4-4-2 set up i don't really see a place for an AM like Sneijder. In my view all we need are more complete and mobile midfielders to better compliment our current system.

We play better in a 4-4-2 but we can look short at times, as no current pairing provides sufficient attributes all of the time. We always seem to be lacking something especially away from home.

We would undoubtedly benefit imo, from having a central pairing which are talented, mobile and versatile enough to provide defensive stability when required, but are also comfortable carrying the ball into advanced areas with a capability to add to our attacking options when the opportunity arises.

He's not as limited as De Jong or Makelele, and has actually played as their most advanced midfielder on several occasions. He's better when playing slightly deeper but he's still more of a box to box than a real holding midfielder at the moment. Fellani does that job.

I just know I don't want de Rossi - hans only contribution to a footballfield these days is elbowing opponents in the face!

He's more of a Carrick type, I can see Fergie developing him into Carrick's successor. None of Tunicliffe, Morrison or Pogba are really that kind of player.

Do you think so? He gave me the impression of being a bit more like an Essien type player. He is mobile, versatile and predominantly defensively minded but with the capacity to get forward fairly regualrly. Like Essien i don't see Rodwell as having the type of passing attributed to Carrick.

A box to box midfielder of huge potential imo and one i hope Fergie will take a chance on.

The more I think about it the more I think that this boy is the most realistic midfield target out there

I wouldn't be against him being the lone signing in that area of the pitch seeing as all the bigger name players are unavailable

No they're not "unavailable", far from it.

You really think Arsenal will sell Nasri to us?
You really think we'll spend 40-50m on Modric?
You really think we're actually after Sneijder?

So you think we'll sign Modric then?

No, but I think we "could".

Big name signings are always difficult, but players can often force the clubs hand, incredible bids can be made (A Carroll, J lescott etc). I don't believe any of these players are "unavailable", difficult yes but it was never gonna be easy, we're talking TOP TOP players here!

Of course we could, we could probably quite easily splash 50m on one player but under SAF are we likely to?

Do you think that we'll sign a top top player this window (not counting those already done De Gea, Jones, Young)

Well, we had better buy someone to replace Scholes.

Personally I've got nothing against the transfers of Jones and Young, seeing as they're very reasonable transfers, but it scared me when I realized we've (allegedly) already spent some ~50m on transfers this term and we've still bought noone for the CM spot.

We've spent 55m already. It's highly unlikley we will be splashing out another 35/40 million on modric.

If Gibson leaves we are left with an even thinner midfield. Don't you think it would be irresponsible of SAF to leave it like it is? Generally speaking, nothing specifically aimed at Modric.

"You look at our senior side, we have some of the best players in the world,” he said.

"Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, Rooney, the list goes on. If they were in the Barcelona squad I'm sure all of them would start.

"Obviously Barca play a different style of football through their grass roots. Throughout their career, the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta have all been taught to a play a certain way.

"English players have been taught a different way, just like Brazil have been taught a different way.

"But that doesn't mean to say we don't have any technical ability. We have technical ability throughout the squad."

He's an absolute idiot for thinking Lampard/Gerrard would start for Barcelona.

Earlier on in the season, this lad was seen as almost a guaranteed signing by most on the Caf. I know he's had a quiet season, but do you still think United have some interest in this kid?
