Jack Rodwell | Sold to City

I noticed he had a couple of classy touches against Chelsea yesterday - he's good, United good? Not sure.

If we got him, and got Becks back, we'd have RodWelBeckham. The ideal scenario would be eleven players you could condense into one word, that would be mint.

Very true, though virtually impossible at the moment.

If we signed Henderson, we'd have HAndersonRodWellBeckHamRooNani.

Bring on Brett Ormerod and Marek Hamsik, for starters.

Yes. And Agbonlahor, and a goalie:

AgbonlahOrmeRodWelBeckHamsIker Casillas

That's seven. Bit of a shame having to use Casillas' first name too, but you have to make compromises in football

We'd also probably have to play the Spastic Diamond

Possibly bring Martin Keown out of retirement for an interesting strike partnership.

Keowen.

Then fit in LassaNani.

I just saw this thread. Are there actually people who would pay 30m for this guy? Do they have internet in the sanitarium?

Was not so long ago that Bale was a laughing stock on here before given a chance to mature. Rodwell will make it to the very top but his price will still be wildly inflated as he is English. But I dont think anyone said anything about him being worth 30 million. Thats just crazy but City wuold pay it no bother!

He's a classy young player with bags of potential, 30mil is awfully steep, but I reckon it would most likely be about 20 mil plus some hefty adds for performances etc.

I thought he had his best game in a while yesterday, given a more attacking midfield role as Fellaini played the deeper role.

He has loads of potential. So it won't be a waste paying a high price for him in that perspective. But we have to look at his injury history. He seems to be getting injured quite often these days.

Gerrard got injured loads when he was that age though, it can just be growing pains.

It could be injuries related to growing.
Another issue is one injury not fully healing, and it generating a series of other seemingly unrelated injuries -that's a more worrying long-term pattern.
But Rodwell is top four quality, make no mistake, even if his development has slowed this season due to injury -he would be a fine acquisition.

Yeah but not everyone can keep getting injured and then recovering to their full fitness. It also depends on how your body reacts. It is better to rest extra longer and not play instead of rushing back from injury in the case of Micheal Owen.

I think this summer would be the perfect time to sign him. He hasn't had a great year and Everton are looking for money, 15 million will get him this summer where as I don't think it would have last summer.

Wouldnt say no. Could be a keano type player for us.

Really? I don't see any similarity with Keano whatsoever.

If Fergie thinks this lad can make it big then I suppose the time to sign him would be when his stock is at his lowest. He's not had a good season this year with all the injuries he's had and even when fit he's not been great.

hope to god this is true. such a natural footballer, could become our next box-to-box dynamo...

I thought he would become excellent in 2009. However, he has made no progress since then. I am shocked and disturbed by the number of posters who seem to think he would improve our First XI.

Are his injuries "bad luck"-injuries from tackles etc., or is it niggles that keeps resurfacing?

He's playing for everton. they've done a great job in developing him up to a certain point, but all due respect to them, they cant further his development much more. Much like Rooney shot up in prominence at Euro2004 after an average season with Everton, Rodwell will improve when he plays with better players, who can play off him and vice versa...

There are reports that Everton will need to find £20m from player sales sooner rather than later, in order just to survive. They are heavily in debt, as well as having loans against the stadium and a huge over draft defecit. They basically have debts that are well over the stadia's and other assets value. Thus being in negative equity.

Rodwell would be an excellent addition, offers good options can play in both a defensive, central midfield role and has the tools to tuck in at centre back. He could well be available for less than the £15m quoted.

Box to box, hard tackling player...

Fletch is box to box and hard tackling. I'd harldy call him a "Keane type player". Keano was immense and was about so much more than just hard work and strong in the tackle.

Would be delighted, think he's an absolute gem. Actually very confident he will be a United player at some point, although 15million seems a bit low. Didn't Chelsea offer 14 million when he was 16?

I want him so feckin much, he`s ideal for us i`m 100% sure.

To bid for him in the summer is a great time too, he hasn`t a good season (Injuries of course) and Everton need the money so the price should be something like 15 million.

12 million + Gibson and I´m happy :D

Great idea, get rid of Gibson while we are at it. I like the way you think.

Considering our transfer history with Toffees (i.e. Howard, Saha, and even Phil), I will not be surprised in the slightest if Gibson turns out to be the next Zidane after signing for them :D
