Jack Rodwell | Sold to City

Bizarre? Rodwell played as a defender when he was younger and Moyes has compared him to Ferdinand. I have watched him for the U21's in midfield too and he has looked uncomfortable.

But because I say it, that he is a defender, it automatically means a series of quotes as if I have said something crazy. If I said Messi was a wonderful footballer, this would probably get quoted too.

You watch players and make your mind up within 25 minutes, which affects your view of that player from then on. It's obviously stupid, especially with young players. A young player's game and role is not set in stone. Far, far from it.

The reason that you constantly get quoted is because you are an attention seeking retard who makes spasticated comments.

Wrong. You only get quoted for spouting loads of shit. You could rival a sewer.

Lot of things to like about the lad, but do we really need a player like him at the moment?

Also, Everton will probably slap a ridiculously fee on him, so even though he'd be a great addition i'm not sure it's something we need in the next few years.

I would agree. I think if we were thinking of signing a centre midfielder we'd be better off signing someone a bit more proven. We'd be spending a lot of money on potential when we have quite a similar player (Pogba) also with plenty of potential already on our books.

But I have watched Rodwell many times. I have changed my view on some players, like Ozil, after watching him more. From watching Anderson more, I think he would be a better player at left back. If a young player's game is not set in stone, then maybe Rodwell is a defender. But because the post came from scholesy, then it must be wrong, and you rush towards the quote button.

I will not get involved with a debate with you. I think you need checked.

You miss the point entirely. He is not a defender. He is a young footballer currently operating in midfield who has previously played in defence. He isn't anything yet.

In a couple years time you will have to eat your words one way or another regarding some of the shite you spout about young players. It's not simply a case of "oh well, got that one wrong" though - your entire mindset towards young players is twisted.

I imagine that your reasoning is retarded, yes. I don't really want to get into discussing Anderson, but I'll take a guess and say that you think he can't improving his passing enough to play in CM for us?

We desperately need an attacking midfielder who is good on the ball, can dribble, take on players and knows his way to goal. We currently have nobody who can do that.

A few months ago, Ozil was #1 on my wish list as a perfect player for us, but now with him gone, it's either Pastore, Hernanes or Henrique. All would be 25-30 million and I'd rather gamble on that sort of talent then Rodwell, who while being a great talent isn't really someone I feel is going to unlock defenses or offer enough in attack.

This is all pie in the sky though. Chances are SAF won't buy any of these players and instead we'll get told some shtick about how we have enough quality in the reserves and there isn't enough value in the market.

Look at what you said again, and can you tell me why saying Anderson would be a better player at LB is so spasticated? Why is it different to what you have said?

Great. For my post wasn't an invitation to debate. Rather it was a statement of fact as to why most folks on here keep calling you out.

Your own reputation is poor. You have a reputation for being an idiot too.

I never said it was, as I don't really want to get into that. I have only speculated into your reasoning.

Scholesy, have a think.

Rowem's saying that he doesn't know where Rodwell's best at, even his own manager doesn't know...hell even he doesn't know himself.

You, on the other hand, are saying that Anderson's best at left back.

Not really the same thing.

Rowem said that the same applies to any young footballer:
"A young player's game and role is not set in stone. Far, far from it."

What about Frazier Campbell would be our E'too by now?
Wrong. I said if given ample playing time, by age 25 he had a chance of getting to that level because the raw attributes to emulate an E'too were there. A chance. Something absent in your vocabulary.

For you, you just big up or write off young players with no valid reasoning other than the strange thought patterns in your head.

And left footed penalty takers?

Urm, yes. How the feck does Anderson disprove that. Are you saying it's set in stone that Anderson is best at left-back? :wenger:

"I've little doubt Campbell, barring injuries and given proper playing time and can go on to be a Drogba or an E'too in a year or 2." That was 2 years ago.

You need checked.

Is that based purely on the one interview when he said he likes playing at left back? I don't even know if that was what he meant and it could have been lost in translation.

I've never seen him play there before, and whenever he plays on the left side of midfield for us he looks lost. You need to form opinions of your own not just take on what you hear in a couple of interviews.

Absolutely bizarre posts in here, a 19 year old comes on for a half of football after months off and looks a bit rusty, and it draws these responses?

Rodwell is a great athlete with a good mature game already, there is much more to come if he stays injury free.

He's playing today against Chelsea. Incidentally he's just hit the post with a header. My point though is that, as a midfielder, I don't think he's good enough for a team like United. He doesn't really excel in any particular part of midfield and just tends to jog box to box, but not in the classic box to box style where you're involved in everything.

I think he's a decent player but as a midfielder I just don't really see the massive hype that seems to have been whipped up.

I agree cw1984. Very overrated as a midfielder.

I just wouldn't see the point in signing someone like that. We've got the likes of Carrick and Fletcher that can perform the defensive part of the game, if we're going for a Midfielder I'd much rather sign one with a bit of craft that can offer something different.

My opinion on Rodwell the defender is much higher than Rodwell the midfielder. I would not want us to sign Rodwell if Fergie's plan was to use him in midfield.

I kind of agree but it's been such a long time since I've seen Rodwell play in defence I'm not too sure anymore.

Funnily enough almost immediately after my post he went on to play quite well but he was playing as the defensive midfield player and that position only. He did very well there.

He's got an annoying knack of passing behind the players, messing up counter attacks.

Looked a wee bit unfit, but it's his first game(*) for a long time so that's understandable.

* No?
