Jack Rodwell | Sold to City

If ando goes I might have to in into therapy. Swapping one FM legend for another-my brain wouldn't be able to compute the mix of emotions

Are we in for a signing of Berba proportions? (like people gathering outside OT and finally got to see him walking with Sir Alex and Gill)

mind you 10m + carrick is very good offer. if i were them i would be tempted.

OK rodwell is a very promising player but he s not the finished article yet.

Good offer?

A 29 year old Carrick coming off his worst season in years is supposed to tempt Everton to part with the most talented youngster in England?

And, with rare exceptions, 10m isn't gonna get you anyone remotely good in today's market.

Number 4 when we sell Hargreaves.

Sell Hargreaves...

that's a good one.

You can't sell something that doesn't work. We'll end up releasing him and have to live with the fact that he's cost us somewhere in the region of 500,000 every game he's played.

people over play that worst season in years...it wasn't actually that bad. It's a season we came 2nd, and also came within a cnuts hair of going to another champions league finals.

It's also a year that Carrick played in defense. So yeah, his form wasn't spectacular, but he wasn't a disaster either. (and i say this a Carrick's harshest critic).

He's hardly ever terrible in games. He's just not as special as he was in his first season. Still, 10 million + Carrick for Rodwell isn't a deal we should do.

Rodwell isn't ready yet, and he's not going to help us win the title if Scholes goes down to injury. It won't be the end of the world if we do get him, but for me, Rodwell can wait till next summer. We may yet need Carrick this year.

C'mon guys. Do you reeeealllllyyy think this is happening? I mean seriously

I know, its a day before the window closes so the papers invent a story to keep everything exciting. For a transfer like this i would doubt SAF would wait untill the end of the summer to put a bid in

Imo yes.

One bad season does not make Carrick a bad player and Rodwell, despite his talent is still to fulfil his promise. There were many promising youngsters that failed to make the grade after big money transfers like Francis Jeffers, Kevin Davies, Glen Johnson to chelsea, Hugo Viana just to name a few

Everton announced on 30 August that they had agreed a transfer fee with Manchester United for the player and had given permission to him to speak with the club. The deal was then completed later that same day for an undisclosed fee of around £17.25m. Rodwell said he had no regrets on joining the club. He is yet to be assigned with a squad number.

:D

The point is, you have to look at it from the selling club's point of view.

Would you do this deal in Everton's place? The answer is, absolutely not.

Young British talent is incredibly difficult to come by and the clubs will go to any length in order to keep the player like Rodwell from leaving. It's Rooney situation all over gain, only I'm not sure Rodwell wants to go, not yet anyway.

Plus, hasn't he just signed a new five year contract?

Wow The Sun, guardian and goal.com. A trio of solid sources right there. All we need is tribalfootball and footballrumours to get in the act and its a done deal.

Selling him "as is" on ebay seems the only viable option.

You forgot one of the main sources.

Caughtoffside and The Busby Way!

this is bollocks.

who was it last year that everyne was holding out for right up to within minutes of the deadline even though there had been no substantiated link?

I remember it was Reo Coker a few years ago...

we never learn.

Is it coincidence our 'interest' arrised in the week we play Everton away? Fergie is the master at playing the media.

I have no doubt we are interested, as is probably every team in the league but lets face it, if you think logically it makes no sense 1 day before the transfer deadline. The accepted theory is that Everton need to sell in order to bring players in, well with 35hrs or so left, good luck to em.
