I wasn’t thrilled when we were chasing him last summer as due to his age he had hardly emerged as a truly world class player but having watched him over the World Cup it’s clear he would have likely been a great addition. I doubt we are in for him now (despite recent media reports that are probably just lazy journalism) as he’s another year older and having signed alexis but definitely a very talented player.

Hardly an indication of anything really but he was the highest rated player on the BBC site from the final.

I think he has been fantastic, looks exactly the sort of player that I would want to see in our team and I really hope we can sign him. Stop chasing Bale and get this guy signed and have one area of the pitch sorted.

Ummm I thought he was unreal regards to work rate. His final ball Was pretty poor. Croatia really didn’t create anything. Not sure he solves some of our problems

He's a machine. Never tires. I'm sure he wouldn't pass a random drug test though. :nervous: Lucky for him the world cup was in Russia so no worries about that happening. ;)

Why? At the time Oscar was performing really well and he wasn't.

No he wasnt. Oscar's hype at Chelsea came purely from him making some tackles. He had some ability which he showed for Brazil, but for Chelsea, other than a wondergoal against Juventus, he was mediocre in attack but made a tackle or two.

Wouldn't sign him personally, no. Someone like Mahrez would've been far more ideal for us. Technical dribbling ability, pace, can pick a pass, can finish.

Perisic would be a good option to have as a backup but he lacks the creativity to really unlock a defence to be a starter.

Good showing from him in the last two games after a lukewarm start to the WC but I hope this purple patch doesn't mean we go and spend £50m on him.

People manage to have opinions on players they dont even see play.

Works both ways, that. People also like to praise players they’ve seen YouTube clips of like they’re experts.

Anyhow, he had a great tournament and he’s clearly a player Mourinho would work well with.

When was the last time Sanchez played full time on the right? But he can play there.

Hes switched to the right halfway through the first half today

Sanchez plays left wing for us. What does right wing have to do with him?

The point is we need a right winger, not a left winger. One that actually plays there on a regular basis and wants to play there.

Another proof that Jose is always right.
Yeah right. Because we should only consider the players performance in major tournaments when he's playing for his country, in a situation where players often give every ounce of energy they have and over perform, rather than for his club sides over the course of his career.

He’s been excellent the last two seasons at Inter, but people want to blindly push the he’s a workhorse with no skill and Jose hates players with talent, narrative

It's not about any narrative. Do you think when teams are gonna come to OT to park the bus against us, he's gonna be the one that is going to unlock defenses?? We need players who are capable of unlocking defenses through the wings, that's the issue with players like Willian and Perisic. They are both great players and are perfect for big matches when you need directness, but they lack the necessary guile and flair to play against teams that will just come to park the bus, and be successful consistently. There's a reason that at 29, the biggest clubs Perisic has played for are Dortmund and a declined Inter.

What do you mean wants to play there, do you know him personally?
The point is he swaps regularly, played there many times for Inter. He's comfortable with both feet. Where he plays is more to do with whos playing on the otherside and their optimal position
And Sanchez has played on the right many times for Arsenal, Barca and Udinese.

Not understanding this pigeon hole outlook

He plays left wing. It’s a no arguement, give it up. Sanchez the same. I don’t see why we need another left sided player. This only makes sense if Martial goes and even then it doesn’t make sense because we still have Sanchez.

No thanks, rather you do, he swapped to the right in the first half as he did many times in the tournament and for Inter
I guessing your another who base your opinion off a few minutes of viewing him

Always rated the guy, his performances in Euro 2016 showed he was a class act. Opposition to his potential signing last season was embarrassing at the time and is looking even more ridiculous now, anyone would think we were looking to sign Nathan Redmond.

Most of the caf was relieved when his transfer to us fell through last summer. Looking back, it's obvious that Perisic crosses to Lukaku would have been a rich easy supply line of goals all season, as well as Perisic himself scoring a few of his own. Would still have meant not playing Martial/ Rashford too often, but the end result would have been us challenging for more last season. Instead we screwed around with Inter offering 35m instead of 50m, whilst City were signing up fullbacks for 30-50m without batting an eyelid. Oh well, there's always this summer to try make amends.

I'm not a Jose fanboy but it's clear that he's pretty savvy in the transfer market, particularly with unfancied unglamorous players who you know will end up putting a great shift in and, in Perisic's case, isn't exactly lacking in quality either.

Plays the game at an incredible intensity. Absolute warrior of a footballer. Still can’t help but feel for his age and likely cost that it wouldn’t be value for money
I can see him being like Robben, but maintaining good fitness into his early 30's. We'd have gotten at least 3 very good years from him.

Let's not sign someone for the right wing who only occasionally plays there.

And it's pretty clear Mourinho wants Sanchez on the left. I'm not sure we even tried him on the right.
