Being fast in the slower league is useless. Remember Depay ?

Football tactic is going to Continental style in EPL. So hardworker speedy players only will not be enough for the Top clubs.

I just dont get it, 40 millions for hardworking average winger ? Go to French league, you may have 2-3 younger players with similar ability. Yes, i follow French League.

Or go to Germany, buy the younger Hazard, he is a hardworking winger with speed, perhaps Mou could turn him like his brother. He will cost only 20-25 millions top.

Depay bulked a lot over the summer, he is quicker now than he was when he started here. He was a lot quicker too in the rare minutes he got under Mourinho then when he started here.

Perisic isnt average, can beat defenders quite easily, is perfectly good with both feet, can cross and create goals, but also score goals. He is no Neymar or Alexis but could have a Pedro effect for us.

Looking at our transfer targets this summer, I feel Mourinho expects great things out of Martial and Shaw. That is the only silver lining of not going for world class wide player and a left back.
perisic/martial morata/rashford mkhi/mata
-------------pogba/perreira------------------
------------herrera/carrick matic/fellaini
shaw/blind lindelof/rojo bailly/jones valencia/fabinho
---------------------de gea/romero

The best this team can do is finish 3rd and reach the quarters of the CL. I am good with that if it means decent number of games for Rashford at no.9 and perriera at 10/8. And starting roles(by winning over Mou) for Martial and Shaw.

Depay quicker in a French league, mate. Against a weaker clubs. And it is just occasionally being good.

Against Lorient at home, which lasted 1-4 for Lorient, he has zero influence as a starter. Lorient, we talked about...

And no he is not quicker, against big clubs like Nice, PSG, Monaco, Marseille, he was shit as ever.

And back to Perisic, what games did you see, mate ? Was it against the Mighty AC Milan, or in the beginning of Serie A when Inter beaten unprepared Juve, or was it against unmotivated Lazio in the edge of the League?

If he was an influential Inter star, with the talents you adore so much, how can small teams like Crotone, Genoa, Sassuolo or Sampdoria can beat Inter easily. Had you seen also those matches, mate ?

And for East European players, hardworking is not the talent. All of them is borned hardworker. Talent wise, Perisic is average.

Croatian team as an example. Which player who has not shown a hardworking attitude?

And one more example, remember Schevcenko ? He moved more or less at the same age of Perisic now (beginning of 30). He was 3 times better, a legendary attacker, skillfull, fast, and hardworking player.

And what happened after he moved to Chelsea? Or should i add another example of this...

I have no idea what you are getting at.

That Depay is quicker that he once was doesnt mean that he is good in every game he plays. The Ligue 1 is as physical as the PL, containing mainly African players. He has gotten quicker as he has lost weight, which he gained when he came to United.

Your further reasoning is absolute bullocks, wont pay any mind to that. Messi lost to Alaves, how can someone of that talent, lose to such a team? He is average..

Ed is "embarrassing" himself by not just "paying whatever a club wants". feck me I've heard everything now.

Eh, you literally just took half his post out of context. He said pay or move on to other targets. Point being why we are wasting so much time on Perisic when we've made 0 progress on signing him

I keep hoping this is all a bad dream and we're not chasing an ok player at best and average most of the time. Perisic will never improve us significantly, I mean wtf are we doing...

I'm with you.

I just don't get the point of going for players who have likely reached their ceiling and that is "okay to good".

feck me.

We are not going to make big strides this summer with the quality of our additions.

Seemingly, no one wants our deadwood either (which is a third of the squad).

So, more of the same next season.

Inter is persisting on a certain price and clear that they won't pay for anything less but he keeps sending offers that got refused. If he's unwilling to pay the price why not just move on to the next target instead of keeping sending offers that will be refused anyway ?

Not a trendy enough name on the back of the shirt for you?

Exactly, we just have to hope that some of our players improve big time (Pogba, Mkhi, Martial)

I couldn't give a toss about his name. I'm talking about the footballer.

I don't see what that's got to do with anything? Enlighten me.

Well you said it. It was an unnecessarily dismissive and condescending comment to make in the first place.

But what's that got to do with me being a better fan?

Surely the first thing is bad enough? I would say that your initial comment implies that you consider those who don't want Perisic as transfer muppets. Let's therefore substitute 'better' with 'more informed'.

I wouldn't say transfer muppet, because to me a transfer muppet is someone who gets excited over any player we sign, even if they're a 16 year old who's only likely to play in the academy. I'm definitely not a more 'Informed' fan. I just don't get all the dislike for Perisic, he would easily improve our starting 11, he's not world class but we're in such short supply of wingers we can't be that choosy.

Perisic has got a new agent... maybe he wasn't happy with his previous agent for not forcing his exit.

On the wing, Perisic is an improvement on all the players we had last season including Pogba and Zlatan.

Pogba and Zlatan played on the wing  What makes him an improvement over Martial or Mkhi, who previously showed they could be much better than him What guarantees do we have he'd step up ?

Literally, i mean there's no better winger than perisic that plays for us.

Would definitely add something to the team, he's a good player

You don't build teams by just buying the star names every time

He is someone i would expect Everton to buy for 30m and it would fit his vita perfectly so far.

We have to hope Jose can get the Croatia form out of him

He is a good player, but signing him is just adding another body to the mix. We're essentially just adding to the problem I felt we had last season where Lingard for 2 games didn't work, move on to Martial for a game, Rashford for the next 2 and back to trying Lingard. Adding Perisic is just making us have another hope for the best option to add to Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Mkhitaryan and Mata. We should be looking at a definite starter and I don't think that is Perisic.

Difference is Perisic is actually a good player, unlike Lingard. And unlike most of the others he's a proper winger.
