Ivan Perisic

But players mature with age. There's been many examples of players having a complete turnaround in their attitude as they've grown old.

He wasn't a kid, he's nearly 29 now, he was in his mid 20's when was gotten rid of by those clubs, he's a primadonna who isn't very good and is already past the point of being forgiven for being inconsistent, which he is. This would be a horrible transfer whether you have watched him or not, I have seen him plenty of times and I don't care what Italian guy on Twitter says, who's to say they have seen more games than me just becasue they are Italian? Cable TV makes that type of thinking redundant. People here treat English pundits and football commentors as jokes for their lack of any real insight, and rightly so, the same should apply to other countries talking heads.

Fair enough.

Who's highlighting the poor mentality, I'm sorry I must have missed those posts. But if true, then it's a bad signing as Mourinho demands much more from his players mentally as compared to others.

From the Inter forum:

I honestly think no one hates Perisic. Consensus seems to be we'd like to keep him, but there's little point in doing so if he's not motivated enough.

Kind of indifferent on him leaving tbh. Good player but mentally he's been gone since the Torino game. Showed some really good form towards the end of last season and showed it in patches this year.

^^ these are a couple and there might be more. The most concerning insight (for us as a potential buyer) was from another Inter fan on their forum:

Here are his stats compared to other Serie A wingers and midfielders:

- Perisic: 10 goals | 6 assists | 2611 mins
- Ljajic: 9 goals | 8 assists | 2431 mins
- Nainggolan: 11 goals | 4 assists | 2935 mins
- Hamsik: 11 goals | 9 assists | 2901 mins
- Bernardeschi: 11 goals | 4 assists | 2165 mins
- Falque: 11 goals | 7 assists | 2421 mins
- Salah: 13 goals | 11 assists | 2351 mins
- Callejon: 13 goals | 11 assists | 2969 mins
- Gomez: 14 goals | 10 assists | 2979 mins
- Keita: 15 goals | 3 assists | 1866 mins
- Insigne: 16 goals | 8 assists | 2755 mins
- Mertens: 25 goals | 8 assists | 2397 mins

It should also be noted that out of all those names listed, Perisic has the worst pass completion % as well, with a pathetic 70.2% (average is 81.55%). Perisic isn't even among the top performing wingers in Serie A and the league isn't even renowned for its wingers. Clubs are doing better than us, because while we're salivating ourselves over this overrated turd, they have players who are performing.

We can do so much better.

Ok, fine, he's not shite.

But we should be aiming for better players. Simple as.
He will be an excellent player to add to the squad. You seem to want a squad of A-Listers and don't quiet grasp the idea of having a balance of experience/youth/different qualities that will make us better in the long run.

If Mourinho wants him for the left, then no, he'll just be a complement to Martial. If he's going to play him like wrong-footed right-winger, like Di Maria in his Real Madrid, then maybe.

We're buying from Lidl while paying like we're buying stuff from Harrods

Aye, laughable price for a nothing player who is nearly 29, still hoping this will be squashed soon by a more concrete source, this would be about as shitty as it gets.

How can anyone honestly want to see a 28 year old journeyman on the left wing when we have Martial. Even his attitude has been questioned in the past so you can't use that in Perisic's favour.

We already have loads of squad players and you don't pay this kind of money for a sqauddie, that's what Lingard is for, we haven't got a single A list attacker and only have one A list player outside of the backline and that's Pogba.

It would be hilarious if we get Perisic out of Inter's hands only for them to sign Bernardeschi. Now that's the type of player I wouldn't mind United to spend money more not this shit head

He's better then Lingard. But there again, most wingers with a hint of talent are

Like buying another Ashley Young while we still have the original.
ffs, he is Messi for Young. Don't be daft. Ok, maybe not Messi, but you understand me..

How is he compared to Son? I know Son's had an incredible season, but does he (Perisic) frustrate Inter/Croatia fans with his touch/dribbling?
probably only Croatian player I don't shout and scream at when Croatia is playing.
A complete nothing player with a shite attitude which is why he's bused around so often, the price is also ludicrous for such medicority, hopefully this isn't true.
You know him personally? Don't think so. You can say whatever you want about him, but not that.

People on here want a fast, dribbling winger, who can beat their man with skill as well as pace...
Get linked with one... DOOOOM.
Yes, because his last name is not ending with "inho", and he is not 12yrs old kid who just burst onto a sceene, so no, not good enough, we should only go for big names, world wide known names, we don't need hard working players, just those with more than 15 mil. followers on twitter. And it might help if Jose gets the message to read RC, and write a new list of players for ED, about cca 25 of them, that this forum would like to have, so that some drama queens in here can be happy. Because what the hell Jose knows, right? We here know it much better, less times you've seen a player play, more you know about him.

He makes it seem as if Inter is poor because Perisic wasnt performing, whilst I think it's more the other way round. Lazio, Juventus, Roma, Napoli, Atalanta are so much better and have all scored more than Inter bar Atalanta.

Pace, strength, 5 star weakfoot at minimum, can cross, can finish, can dribble and I think play both sides. Very inconsistent but we have Jose, I'm all for it. Similar case with Douglas Costa. And he's a beast on FUT.

good on FM and Fifa, since consistency doesnt play a big role, only decent in real life. We have to pray Mourinho does wonders with him, otherwise he will be gone in 2 years. A big worry is he hasnt shown any sort of world class consistency since playing the Belgian League 7 years ago.

More signs of Mourinho wanting to buy underwhelming just potential squad players.

Im glad that you're not allowing your nationality bias influencing you

Man.
I'll trust Jose, but this is such an underwhelming signing, if true. He's almost 30 and isn't a world-beater by any means, nor will he get any better. It seems like a massively expensive squad signing to be honest. Pretty weird one, but oh well, let's get behind him at least. I know he's not a bad player, but I was expecting us to be aiming much higher.

I know it's not always fair to go by stats but they do help when looking at players at the business end of the team contributing towards goals.

Perisic seems to lag behind about 8-10 others who would probably suit us better. Hamsik, Insigne, Bernardeschi and Callejon included.

Agreed ofcourse, hope he could get Rojo'ed, we could do really well with such a winger of his type. Would do well in a counter attacking system but can also create out of himself, the consistency is worrying but let's not forget Inter is consistently shite or inconsistently average.

That's the point though, Lingard is what the term squad player is for, you don't pay £40M for a slightly better squad player, we are littered with squad players as it is.

You know him personally? Don't think so. You can say whatever you want about him, but not that.

I'm saying it because it's true at Dortmund and Wolfsburg, and Inter fans are also saying he gave up mentally this season, that's a bad attitude as a professional sportsman, I don't need to know if he's nice to his Mom and walks his dog 3 times a day to make the comment on a football level.

Mourinho's track record with attackers isn't as good as with defenders though. I think that's one of his weaknesses as a manager.

Seems like a lot of Serie A watchers and Croatians rate him pretty highly. £30m would be a better price though.

He is the Croatian Podolski, he shows up for the national team.

We are weak out wide. Perisic is actually very good. Seen him in the flesh at the Euros. Do you honestly think we won't add more stellar names than Perisic. Cmon, this is just the start of it.

Left wingers I'd rather have than him:

-Ronaldo
-Neymar
-Sanchez
-Hazard
-Reus
-Sterling
-Coutinho
-Payet
-Mertens
-Carrasco
-D. Costa
-Brahimi
-Bruma
-Coman
-Lemar
-Balde Diao
-Son
-Lozano
-Forsberg

Yes, he wouldnt be more expensive and would be good in the present and future. Plays also on the right wing, would be an excellent buy.

This probably isn't being as well received due to City just signing caf-darling Bernardo Silva.

I, too, am hurt at missing out on Bernardo Silva and negative towards this signing.

I think adding a £40M turd for the left when we need real, starting 11 talent is stupidity unless we are going to spend £350M this summer.

oh god no :wenger::nervous: and for 40mio at that ? While we're at it lets go for Ilicic aswell :wenger:
I mean the more the merrier

If he comes, then I'm happy. If he doesn't come then I'm happy. I trust Mourinho knows what he's doing.

Feck that, awful signing if true. His age and position really aren't needed.

Don't understand how we have so many experts on this player, but as is often the case at this time of year it's more than likely an unfounded rumour.
