I'm confused!
We have had Bastian, Kagawa and Mykytarin from the bundesliga all not hit the heights. But Mykytarin had a ropey start but kicked on and was our best player for a few months posting decent stats. He had a decent first season not dreadful by any means imo.
I just don't think he kicked on or showed enough consistency. EL saved him from being a disastrous first season. I wouldn't call it decent but probably it wasn't extremely poor like it was mentioned in the original post you quoted. Hope he has a much better one this time around as we know we need it.

And you could have added that bale is also 28 and been injured a lot the last few seasons so why spend the extra 50m..
The "add X fee" posts often don't make sense on top because they don't reflect the difference in wages, particuarly for someone like Bale.
His 350k a week before tax at Madrid (+bonsues) over a 4 year contract, would no doubt be double (almost tripple) what we'd have to offer Perisic, it could make the difference in a total package (Fee and wage difference combined) closer to the 100mill mark on a 4 contract.
Anyway, I saw him yesterday and was impressed, contrary to posters in here whom have over 100 posts in this thread stating over and over, ad nauseum that he's shit.
Clearly he has talent. If Mourinho could keep his form up then he'd add an exciting option to our attack here next season, he's clearly matured away from his time in the Bundesliga.

I ran Mkhis vs Perisic in their respective league performances last season through Squawkas comparison matrix and Mkhi comes out on top in 9 out of twelve measurements. I don't know how to embed it but maybe someone else can.
Mkhi has had far better seasons than Perisic. You don't have to do sqwaka comparisons for that. I know that. But he had a poor season for us and there's nothing to say Perisic has had better. I wasn't comparing the two.
That's not the point, the point is that Mkhi in THIS season, which has been a very disappointing season domestically for him, has actually been more consistant in most aspects of the game compared to Perisic who's coming off of the best season of his career. This is the Perisic thread, so if Mkhitaryan is mentiooned in here it's always in relation to Perisic.
Go back and read. The initial reference to Mkhi was by someone who mentioned Perisic is better at the defensive parts of the game. Then Lawman and myself just had a small discussion regarding whether Mkhi had a poor season or an extremely poor one. That had nothing to do with Perisic whatsoever.
Also, please do embed your comparison for league performance by both as you are the one who is interested in this and stats without context or in this case without actual evidence is rather futile. Feel free to compare away and prove to whoever you think feels Perisic is better than Mkhi. Don't quote me though, as I haven't said that neither do I intend to take part in it as it is clear to me who is the more productive player historically.
Breaking news on MEN is that we are now only 2m short on the Perisic deal. Looks done then.
We've probably saved over half of that in wages by dallying for 6 weeks on the deal!

The picture is legit, it's his latest instgram story. Thing is, his daughter's name is Manuela so that's just about her.
Perisic will have never thought that at this stage that he'd be playing at a club like United or under a manager like Mourinho. Hopefully he won't be overawed by the increased pressure and expectation which comes from playing on a much larger stage.
Would be really happy with that.
Don't worry lads, for £48m or whatever it is, we'll get a 29year old (soon), who no one had heard of (or rated as a tier1 player), who'll inevitably need a season or two to settle in, so he'll come into his own at 30/31 years old!

Just because you've not heard of him doesn't mean he won't do a good job for us and quite the opposite in the case of Depay where he was younger with a great reputation and just couldn't cut it.
For £50m I'd much either want:
1. Tier1 player
2. A bunch of highly regarded youngsters (ala what Monaco or AMadrid or Dortmund have done over the years).

As long as it doesn't include Martial I'll not look much into his price. I'll prefer to get the player we want at a high price rather than spending nothing and entering the season lacking players. No brainer for me.

Agreed. With Jose already a year with the team, he knows what are the qualities our team lacks and need strengthening, With Pep spending so much he would be desperate to win league with us this season.
Behave yourself Paz. You're just coming across as ignorant there. He was a stand out performer in the most recent Euro's and has represented two of Europe's top clubs. He's not some nonentity. And enough of this 'tier1' bullshit. It's what makes the team function effectively.
