Looks like Perisic is very important signing for Jose. In the recent interview he said he isn't happy with transfers but he can understand as the market is tough, also that he will be happy with 3 players now. In the last few days there isn't a single news on any DMs and only on Perisic, so looks like Jose wants 3rd signing to be a winger than DM.

As much as I like Perisic, if I were to pick between a DM and a winger right now, I would say we need a DM more. A solid DM can help to unleash Pogba and Herrera who can consequently unleash the other players that play further upfront. Having a good DM will have a kind of positive domino effect on the team.

That would be my choice too. DM before winger.

Disagree. Our problem last year was converting our domination into goals and wins against the smaller teams. In those games we played without DM anyway and the 2 CMs were playing quite advanced. The problem was having players that could stretch the opposition. Having a DM against Stoke, WBA and Wolves at Old Trafford is not going to help you. For me, someone to provide width on the left is the more important transfer, especially as Pereira is showing signs of quality in CM.

But then opinions and all that. Each has their own.

In the world of football today where they are thousands of professional players why it seems that this Perisic guy is the only left winger exist who happened to be work hard, can defend and cross as his main attributes? Whats the point of having huge scouting network and so if we can only identify 1 player who will ticks most if not all the checkbox? I get it if you said that the manager have his preferability but if you cant get Pepsi, Coca Cola is not that bad (bad analogy but you get the point).

I feel this is more Mourinho's wrong doing than Ed's. He should have more options. More importantly who was on this bloody list and why haven't we gone for option two.

Maybe we just haven't heard of all the options? Press seem to be focused on Perisic with their limited information.

I remember Jose clearly saying that he had given ED a list of players that he would love, players he would really like, and players he would like. He then said, the rest is upto Woodward, it's now his time to work while jose is on holiday, and that ED can holiday in August when jose has returned to work. Paraphrasing of course, but fairly close iirc.

So it would appear he has given him a fairly comprehensive list, but he did not claim that he had given Ed multiple options for each position of said target. Therefore i think it's fair to assume that Perisic must be a primary target, for us to have spent so long getting nowhere. I don't think Jose will be satisfied unless he gets all of his primary targets that are still available. Not easy to buy players from potential rivals on the cheap, what is in it for them when we are allowed to strengthen ourselves from their ranks for a reasonable price? Far more satisfactory and justifiable to appear as though you have gotten one over upon a rival after selling them a player.

Frank its been decided he is shite. The hive mentality has spoken. Just accept Jose hasnt got a clue and move on lad
Or just blindly follow Mourinho instead of actually watch him and form an opinion for yourself.

Perisic is two footed, run of the mill payers aren't two footed. You talk a lot of rubbish.
I'm two footed. A lot of players in the Evostik Premier League are two footed. How does that make any difference in terms of quality?

That's the most insane point. Just because he is two-footed makes him special according to that post.

To be honest he probably doesn't have the time to scout multiple options. Would be better if he had a chief scout or DoF that could present him with a range of options.

I understand that but that's what our scouts are for. He should atleast have had two options for the wings. To me natural logic says 60-70m try get Sanchez. Only a year left on his contract but that is value for money. Unless we stupidly are waiting for Griezmann next season.

Also it feels like not enough research was done regarding the possible availability of these players concerning such issues as their contract lengths, financial situation etc. I remember during Fergie's latter years we signed a series of players in the last years of their contracts. Since then we have been radarless in the market but last year was an excellent window imo but this year things seem to have been messed up by the Griezmann and Ibra situations.

I love this whole mentality: "I have feck all knowledge about the player, but Jose fancies him so now i reckon it's extremely important that we sign him".

Wasn't Jose frustrated that we didn't sign a certain Portugese flop that landed at Bayern last summer ? We sure missed out there

If this deal isn't happening we need to move onto another winger. After a striker that was our biggest priority signing.

i think he walked away along time ago and the press wont let go
Probably some truth to it. At the least, I could see us taking this one off the priority list - we've made our valuation known and so have Inter. If they want to deal, they can come back before the end of the window. But of course there's always going to be more interest in United failing to sign our targets rather than us simply getting them so there's your ad nauseum story

I suppose because world class players are likely to result in a overall net positive for the team. Of course it isn't a certainty but the law of averages indicates the better the player the greater their beneficial impact will be.

I have nothing against signing a world class player, but with the obsession some seem to have with Griezmann, exhibited by notions such as saving money towards getting him next summer, when the current squad is badly in need of reinforcement.

We tried and failed to get him this summer. We should not be pining to get him in the future when he would be older and with no more certainty in getting him, all the while the team is mired in mediocrity.

Move on, Inter will have an unhappy player on their hands, price will drop, will end up selling in Jan or next summer for a fraction of the price. Serves the greedy feckers right.

Agree we don't need to 'save' money now to use next summer for Griez. We will have money next year for Griez anyway

Surely we ought to have a backup. To him? This saga has gone on whole summer and their price seems. To be increasing if anything.

I guess its a game of chicken at the moment - the longer Inter leave it, the more chance of their targets signing elsewhere.

Some fans are ready to refuse having an opinion different than their idol Mourinho. It's nuts to me. Like you cannot question anything without your level of support being questionned.

I hope people here do not have the same mentality with say people in government.

But surely even if one thinks they know better than Mourinho, they are not the manager and thus have no idea how the player is going to be potentially utilised? It's fine having an opinion based on watching the player but it's strange to me to be so much against a signing that the manager and the club obviously want. Perisic cleary isn't an all around world class player but he would bring in some qualities that we don't have and would give us more options. The price is too high but if the manager wants him because he sees him playing an important role for us, it's fine with me.
