Ivan Perisic

Were people on here like this when we signed Bailly?

Or was the Caf okay with that on the basis they'd seen him play against Liverpool in the EL?

Mourinho's the manager.
Well the difference is that Perisic is not an unknown entity coming out of nowhere. He's 29, and no point in time has he been anything more than decent. Even Inter fans are not that bothered if he leaves as they have their aims set on AdM or James who are better quality to fill the space when he leaves. His attitude in the last few months hasn't gone unnoticed.

So, the complaints are full justified especially when we could be paying as much as City have purchased a potential world class player in Silva.

Underwhelming taken in isolation? Most certainly yes. Though I have to admit I don't know a great deal about him.

However if this signing is to support a central striker like Greizmann then I can see the sense in it. AG has Carrasco and Gameiro to work and provide the ammunition and we clearly aren't in for those. It may be a master stroke or complete folly. Time will tell.

If we do get Greizmann then I think the fans will be happy. Otherwise...

Thing is, with him coming, who's on their way out?

I usually dont like the highlight videos, so better to watch every touch in a game. What a game this was from him against Juve though.

Not really encouraging if that's one of his standout match compilations. Tap in, insane challenge from Rugani, chokes Cuadrado and a lot of examples of the lack of end product Inter supporters talk about.

I've only seen him play a handful of times, so it's hard to say whether or not it would be a good signing. What's interesting to me is his age. You see Guardiola trying to build a young core of forwards with his signings that will develop and mature together (Sane, Jesus, Silva) and then you see Mourinho opting for forwards either in the prime or at the tail end of it (Mkhi, Perisic, Zlatan). I wonder how much that has to do with Mourinho either not having the patience/ability to go through the same process as Guardiola or Guardiola having more room for error than Mourinho.

Not really a fair comparison. Bailly is young and there seemed to be touted potential.

I was hinting more at reserving judgement.

Mourinho has a solid track record in the market and has long signed players to suit his system, irrespective of how they've been utilised at previous clubs. He's forensic in his profiling of players.

I can see why he likes Perisic. He's effective in a counter attacking unit.

Martial has been nothing short of awful the majority of the season, your first sentence is exactly what you could describe Martial as this year.

Martial is 21 after only his second season. Yes he had a poor season, but I'd far rather stick with him next season instead of splashing £40m on an average 28/29 year old.

I was thinking the same thing, I watched the video and bar getting a goal there was nothing that stood out in the vid, just a lot of running up dead ends.

Last time I've seen the caf so negative about a transfer was Fellaini.

This could be made up by the Italian Media.

Nah mate, this is too bad to be fake. This must be the real deal or maybe it's just a really good smokescreen or maybe we're just having a bad dream and we will wake up soon.

We've already got Mkhitaryan, Mata and Martial as an attacking trio, so someone like Turan or Willian wouldn't be a worry for me. That's assuming we're signing someone like Griezmann too. Perisic was a league winner in a better Dortmund team than United currently and he's definitely approaching his peak.

He's slow as feck. Would rather Willian if I had to have one of the two.

Possibly due to the youth currently in our ranks aswell. Martial, Rashford, Lingard, possibly Pereira depending where Mourinho sees him.

We've a young squad already we need those peak players more right now.

No, not really. He's a genuine winger, wont and cant be used as a LB.

His delivery isn't very good and he's not particularly skillful, his graft is his main thing so might as well just plug him into a role that wont stink up an attack that is already garbage.

I'll reserve judgement until he's played a few times, as I cannot ever recall seeing him play - although presumably I have. Forgettable. 10 goals and 10 assists this season though, which is okay.

28 isn't too old really, although it's getting there - he can give us 2/3 good seasons, but it's not like he's tearing up trees in Italy, like Mhiki was in Germany - and just look how inconsistent he's been this season.

Perisic would need to hit the ground running, and I can't see it, but luckily I'm not in charge.

No, this is worse.

Scores a goal with a good run, creates a penalty out of nothing, dishes up with about 7-10 crosses against one of the best teams in europe = Not really encouraging and lack of end product :wenger:

That's possibly a reason

I trust Mourinho in the transfer market so if he thinks Perisic is good enough to play for us then so be it. I'll reserve my judgement until he actually plays for us.

He's a good player, stop being so over dramatic. There's too much of people supporting specific players rather than the club. Silva might be utter shite for City no one knows. We weren't interested in him it would appear so hardly worth mentioning him, I trust Mourinho in the transfer market and we've apparently been looking at Perisic since late last year.
And off the back off the last season, would you say he is a 40 million attacker? he is also 28. like signing Kevin Mirallas

The Inter fan is spot on, a negative grafting winger, "proper Mourinho player" which is shorthand for this type of workhorse nothing player, at this point I'd just pray he's going to be used as a LB.
It's nothing we haven't seen before

When I think of him the last word that pops on my mind is graft.

Along with other jokes about taking Brozovic or Kondogbia in a buy 1 get 1 free deal. That's what inter fans are saying on their forums :(
Pandev won the CL with Mourinho. I'll trust José on this if we sign him. Not like it will be the pinnacle of our transfer window. Cheer up!

I imagine most assumed he was doing it this season to push through. With the transfer budget and availability of targets you'd have hoped defensive wingers weren't on the list to comprise our squad for next season.

So much negativity. You would think he was replacing Messi. Lingard plays for us on a Regular basis, I highly doubt that Perisic is a downgrade
