Ivan Perisic

This thread is genuinely pathetic. Someone just called Perisic a deadwood for Inter. Joke.

Neither is lukaku who was playing for 7th team in PL.
Lukaku is one of the PL top goalscorers in the last 3 seasons.
Perisic for all his career did not achieved anything like that.
Wrong. He won the league after selling KdB and the likes.
And was fired the next year.
So? This is the Spurs who bought sissoko? As giorno said, shaqiri was good for stoke.
As i've said, waste of money. Strange you don't understand that.
Sure players such as Turan, Perisic, Sissoko are decent. And sure sometimes they are clueless clubs, managers who think that they will actually make it in the big league and bet on them. 90% of the time they does not.
Same thing will happen if Perisic will get here. Same as with Turan and Sissoko. A couple of years after that, he will be looking for a WBA team to buy him 3-4 times cheaper or sitting on the bench and collecting his salary.

That's bull. Their best was Icardi, it was clear as day, since he is basically the only sort of top player there.

He was one of their best players, deadwood is a load of crap.

We need wide-men but isn't he a bit old to be spunking £40/50m on?

Balde is much younger and already is a better player. That kind of players can progress. Perisic might be an okay player best-case scenario. He is 28 already and will not develop his game. The question is how quickly will he decline.

If he's so good why aren't the top clubs in for him?

To be honest he seems like the exact same style as Martial. If we're gonna get a player like that we might as well just give Martial a chance this season. Mou clearly wants a different player who will offer something else to the team, I think if we signed Keita it would be another Memphis situation - left wing dribblers/cut in players are not flourishing in our team right now

Ah ha! Knew the number 32 rung a bell for some reason.

He might end up wearing 44 after all then. I guess if you sign for United and the boss offers you number 11 or 7, you're not going to say "Nah, it's alright, I'll stick with number 69 thanks".

Yeah apart from that highest I could remember is Kagawa 26, Fletcher 24 and Valencia 25.

It's obvious who has watched him play and who don't have a fecking clue about the player.

Great, so Inter is getting Balde, a decent prospect, who is already outperforming Perisic, for 20-25m euros, while getting rid of a deadwood fro twice as much.
Our current options at left wing: Ashley Young, Martial, Rashford. We need more depth, and decent depth at that. Perisic isn't going to set the world alight but it stops us having to go to the likes of Stoke away with Young in the team because our other options are injured or played on Wednesday in the Champions League. He's no Gareth Bale but he's certainly not deadwood. Plus, who else is available? Lets take this squad building thing one step at a time shall we?

We will still have a lack of serious goal scorers. I'm not even against signing Peresic I think hes a decent player and we need another LW.

48m is steep though

I know there's no proof to back this up but I just think we have POTENTIALLY a great goal threat with Rashford and Martial maturing. Mkhitaryan is a goal threat after hopefully settling in. Mata scores consistently. Pogba should score more after settling in. Then add in Perisic. Lingard has his uses but he's not much of a goal threat and he needs to start less.

It's a load of ifs and maybes but if they all or even some get it right we should be far better in front of goal.

The way people are talking about this guy you'd think we were buying Jermaine Pennant for £50m.

Jose cant have any complaints; it looks like Woody has delivered 3 of his 1st choice targets. 1 more left.
Absolutely, this is the most important thing. That juvenile article about not getting his players with Woodward swanning around watching Rugby a few weeks back... We're supposedly spunking nigh on £50m on an extremely divisive winger. It's all down to Mourinho to start actually performing and not finding excuses when things go a bit pear-shaped.

There's some prospect here that any player signed by any team is better than any player we're linked to obviously. We must always bite our nails on the signings of other clubs. Shame.

looks like this deal is almost done. I'm not sure I could even tell you what the guy looks like having seen no Serie A games for the past two season excpt about three minutes of the last game of the season when someone unknowns somehow didn't get relegated

The basis is that players play better in an effective system. Martial got 20 goals the season before last, Mikhi got 32 assists, Mata was player of the year for Chelsea 2 seasons in a row. These players will definitely improved when we stop playing a lopsided system. Last season we played 2 no 10s on the wing and a no 8 at DM. We also had a 35 year old or 19 year old up front, our system was extremely unbalanced and this year, if we get a DM too, we should fix a lot of that and our current players should play a lot lot better

I don't remember anyone challenging Mourinho for Matic's signature at Chelsea either but he turned out to be world class in a title winning season for them...

Get a grip people you think Wes Brown and John O'Shea were world beaters or do you think they were the right players in the right team?

The fact that Caf is against this signing is a good sign IMO. So many signings that Caf approves of have massively failed in the last few years (Schniderlin, Depay, Darmian, Falcao, Di Maria and Schweinsteiger) while the signings no one was enthused about have worked out - Bailly, Blind, and Rojo. I even remember several people calling out Herrera as an average player when he was signed.

Very much agree with this statement. Do you think it's so, if the player doesn't do so well, people can say, "told you so"?

Obviously just seen the occasional youtube clips, but his on field 'manner' reminds me a bit of Robben. A bit annoying, cocky, pain in the arse for the opposition. Could be a very astute signing.

Think you might be losing money on that. Citeh are more attacking than us and Silva is a creative machine.

Don't think so. Monaco scored 107 league goals, Silva scored 8 goals and 9 assists.

He's a good player. The price we have seen quoted is terrible but prices for Premier League teams have gone mental recently, so it's not surprise we are paying premium for him.

We've pushed hard for this guy and seemingly haven't entertained the idea of going for any other wingers, so I have to assume that he's exactly what Jose wants. We have a big striker, so presumably he wants a winger who can get forward, beat a man and put in a good cross regularly. Martial will often try to make a run inside, as do most of our other wing options and none of them are great at crossing.

We were always going to get fleeced once Inter realised he was our only option though.

Think he'll be a fantastic signing exactly what we need from last season, wouldn't surprise me if he goes on to be one of our top performers in the next campaign.

Vital to have a proper winger with a good final ball when the majority of teams just sit narrow and deep against us at home.

Those frustrating draws could of been a lot different if we stretched teams to the byline instead of having 2 wide forwards whose initial thought was always to cut inside.

I dont disagree he is not a top player but we don't need more potential. We have plenty in attack we need players that can do a job now.

In that case bring a player that doesn't have question marks over his head, spend the required amount of money to bring that top, ready made player. As someone that likes Ashley Young, I wouldn't mind Perisic if he was reasonably priced and wasn't expected to be one of the consistent difference makers, what really bothers me here is that we are adding a player that is not really better than our current options, he is far less effective than some of them.

If I'm being perfectly honest, despite my posts in this thread I know that Perisic is an adequate player, I'm just disappointed by the fact that he doesn't really have any upside compared to a young player because despite his age he has the exact same question marks than the one you would have on a prospect. My philosophy when it comes to transfers is that you spend big on a 28 years old player only if he is a confirmed top player, otherwise you either go for bargains or young players with upsides.

 People do post some shite without a clue don't they?

Bernardo Silva is fantastic player though. It's like Mata and David Silva, David Silva was better but Mata had better stats.

Anyone remembered when we sign solskjaer?
It would be a huge meltdown in redcafe if we turn the clock back and imagine we are signing him now....

Anyway let give him a chance to proved himself here.... we just can't buy anyone...

Don't think so. Monaco scored 107 league goals, Silva scored 8 goals and 9 assists.

He is a creative machine though, Silva was most of the time the one making the difference.
