What an underwhelming signing. Is this the best winger Mourinho/United could come up with? I can see creativity becoming an issue once again.

Im coming round to it

Purely because of his directness (from the little I know about him in fairness) if he is being signed to benefit lukkaku I see why he wants him

A player that only got 8 assists with Icardi up top... cross success can't have been that great.
Honestly we might have well of bought James and played him wide.

We signed the best right winger in Germany last season and it didn't really work out as we expected. Before that we signed Memphis, very exciting young Dutch winger. Before that we signed Di Maria.

Maybe signing random top players isn't the right way? How about a system that isn't ridiculously unbalanced and where players who actually have the right qualities for their roles play?

The signing top players strategy seems to work for Real Madrid.

Yeah good points, i have to agree. He will probably suit Mourinho's system best.

Its actually weird that football has evolved to a stage where you can't really think of many wingers who are great crossers of the ball

Madrid's success to top signing ratio is still low, its only in the last 4 seasons it has paid off. This is after just over a decade of breaking transfer fees and having teams of galacticos only to be upstaged by Barca on a domestic level and others at European level.

Being upstaged by one of the best club sides to ever grace football, wow shock horror.

Which is why I do not understand the people who think we desperately need a winger who can put in a cross.

I have not watched Perisic play in many games whether in Germany or Italy. I only recall that he was a solid non rare FUT card in FIFA (a fantasy mode for those unfamiliar). My opinion that he offers a different dimension of wing play than our current wide men is based of short YouTube compilations. My sentiment that he will be a success at United is wishful thinking as I only want our Club to be successful. My desire to see him in our shirt stems from trusting our manager and wanting him to have whatever players he feels appropriate at his disposal. Perhaps I would be more excited by a different breed of winger but many of the exciting prospects failed us either for lack of adapting or just not being good enough (Obertan, Di Maria, Depay) so I don't credit excitement as equalling success and remain optimistic here.

I think anyone seriously dismayed by this ought to take honest stock of their opinion, especially rating players without truly watching them in the frequency or detail our scouts and manager will have.

They should have signed players like Perisic rather than Ronaldo and Bale then. That top player strategy just doesn't work. Can Ronaldo cross the ball fifty times a game? think not...
We aren't getting Ronaldo and Bale. Get over it, all you do is moan in every god damn thread.

Considering the money they spent they should have been closer. Moreover they spent hundreds of millions and went 11 years without Champions League success.

4 league titles in the last 13 years is not as good as you'd expect from a team like Real Madrid. 3 CL's in the last 13 years is admittedly pretty decent but in each one of those CL wins they had an extremely balanced side and a nice mix of creative players and hard working players.

The discussion was about the validity of Real Madrids transfer strategy so Bale and Ronaldo are relevant, don't you think?

That 'every thread' comment isn't remotely true either. I don't think we should sign Perisic mind which is a perfectly legitimate opinion.

I've noticed a theme here. One or two posters says Perisic is "sh*t" then that gathers momentum and the general consensus is that the player isn't good enough.

I would bet that 90% of you moaning gets haven't even seen more than 3 Inter matches last season.
