feck inter for being so greedy. Why not go for the alternatives? As has been said if there are 3 for every position, we only have been linked with him as a winger. I hope we just ask Inter to shove it and sign Bernardeschi(40 million asking price) or Kieta balde .

How can the likes of Inter really reject £40m for a 29 year old when they are struggling to meet FFP?

United have to start playing dirty. Get the player to tantrum, down tools and not turn up to training. We lost £15m after Di Maria did this.
I really don't know, surely the negotiators are pissing themselves with laughter?

Perisic is an important first teamer for Inter, if they sell him they have to replace him. Since they have met FFP, they are going to ask for the amount they need to sign their replacement. If the rumours are to be believed, we're essentially paying for Douglas Costa here.

All things considered we're in a really bad negotiating position, the pressure is on Ed too from our managers media mouthpiece.

I rate Perisic but this has become very annoying. Mourinho obviously really wants him but he also said that he gave Ed a list of names for each position so let's just move on.

On that though we haven't even been linked with any other wide players have we? CB for example it seems the shortlist was Keane, Lindelof and Van Dijk? DM seems to be Matic, Dier and Fabinho? CF seemed to be Morata, Belotti and Lukaku? Seems like it's a short list of 1 for that winger position

They solved their FFP problem but this is getting crazy. Can't blame Ed for having problems this window.

If you ask me, I can address 3 key issues in the team

a- our lack of a DM which forces attacking minded players such as Herrera and Pogba to play in unfamiliar deeper roles else the defense will be exposed.

b- lack of pace and talent on the flanks. That gives teams plenty of time to drop deep and defend. The EPL had become an extremely defensive league and Im old enough to remember the catenacchio.

c- we seriously lack natural goalscorers. Rashford, Martial, Pogba, Herrera and Lingard are not natural goalscorers.

That can't be sorted without a change in personnel.

Herrera attacking minded?

40m for this donkey and they reject it?

Mourinho left winger list must be: Ronaldo, Hazard, Neymar, Perisic

He needs to hand in a transfer request, otherwise his United dream will end soon. Jose wants players now

The only reason they can do it is because they genuinely believe we'll pay more.

And we probably will.

They can refuse any bid because they have a rich ownership now (Suning) able to keep their best players. Last summer, despite the FFP, the Chinese owners didnt sell anyone and spent more than € 100 mln (€ 40m Joao Mario €30 Gabigol €22m Candreva etc.).

Inter only will sell Perisic if the guy expressly asks to be sold imho.

Yes. Let's take a chance!!

This one does have the Fellaini vibe to it. I.e. overpay massively for a player we all really know isn't that great, then convince ourselves it's a good signing as it's the manager's choice before watching him play a few times and realising he's as average as you initially thought.

I just hope all the reports are bullshit which is unlikely.

I want Jose to get the players he wants but 48 for perisic will set a bad president and make signing players even harder. 38 million is more than fair all things considered. It will really hinder future signings if we give into Inters demands. Hope Jose understands this and we move on. Whats happeining with Costa and James? Those look like better value for money.

Need to start looking elsewhere, i like Perisic and can see why Mou is actively pursuing him for the type of team he is looking to build, but cant allow clubs to always try to fleece us. Hes a good industrious player, that will give good balance, but hes not a player to pay over the odds for.
48m? At that price there comes a point where a different bracket of player comes into contention. Add 15 or 20m to tempt Dortmund to selling Dembele...

As everyone has mentioned, that's a ridiculous fee inters asking. But it seems to be a sellers market with all the money in football.

We should move on to our next target.

There are probably only 5% of all the wingers in the world which would command a higher transfer fee than what Inter are holding out for.

I can understand such a pursuit of a Neymar, or even for the potential of a Dembele, but for a 28 year old that the majority of fans hadn't even heard of a couple months back? Its a poor showing from the manager and his scouts to be fair.

I'm no mathematician but that's quite a lot.

Most football fans must have not watched the last World Cup or Euros if they hadn't heard of Perisic. I agree he is being shockingly overpriced but he is not some obscure footballer either, he is a good player.

Hardworking is the new trend.

Perhaps we are going to be a New Stoke ?

Shit player, never change my opinion on Perisic.

So rather than we play smart, we are going to play hard...

Ah deary me.

Jose had already mentioned a couple of times towards the end of the season that he's against being held for ransom by clubs for inflated fees for players.

Times to put those words into action.

For the fees reported, might as well move away from this.

He's not that good.

I'd rather wait a season for a winger than bring in Perisic for 40m+ this summer.

I wonder if this guy is Jose's first choice. Held to ransom for an overpriced grafter!

He seems like his only choice, like there's no other winger in the world. Maybe these old style wingers are a rarity.

If someone told me back in April we'd be bidding over £40m pounds for Perisic, I would have laughed it off as nonesense.

Theres loads of wingers out there if we're going tl spend 40m. Felipe anderson at lazio springs to mind.

Theyll have to relace him in the not too distant future anyway. Hes almost 29. We need to look elsewhere for that price.

Silva is a potential balon dor winner, winner of a league title @ 22, went for less. I don't blame Ed for not giving in.

Nah, this guy gets the job done and Martial grows up in the meantime.

Makes absolutely no sense and whilst I don't watch him every week, I really don't understand why we are so insistent that he's a missing part of the jigsaw. Not saying he can't offer something but we are paying absolutely premium money for a standard player....

I actually don't envisage he'll be any better than Arnautovic to be honest. I know someone will try to say he is amazing based off his recognisable season at 28, in the glorious Serie A, but hey everyone has opinions

People have been crying out for a game changing attacker, another match winner to lessen the loads on the striker. We have plenty of inconsistent attackers and he is yet another one, who is also a suspect finisher.

In his last 28 national appearances he has 15 goals. Was also Croatia's top scorer in 2016 EURO qualifying. Played well in the finals. WhoScored gave him a 7.84 rating, the same as Griezmann.

2014 World Cup he was ranked as the second-best performing player of the group stage by FIFA. So that's TWO International tournaments he has performed at.

16 goals, 16 assists in 57 games at national level. He started to kick on 2014 onwards. The 26 games prior he had only 1 goal.

11 goals and 8 assists in an unstable club/team last year. Salah had 15 goals and 11 assists in a much more stable team who played better football which suited him. Some of you are claiming Salah is the much better player which is wide of the mark, and the fact that he failed under a Mourinho system before should at the very least tell you that different wingers are suited to different systems.

Some drivel in here about fecking Arnautovic being better than Perisic. Seriously what the feck?

He is clearly a good player, all this guff about him being shite is becoming increasingly annoying to read. Perisic would be joining a BETTER team with a system that suits him and WILL produce.
