When Mou left Chelsea first time round it took them nearly 3 years to win the league. Same with Real.

But the same year they made it to CL finals and lost the league on the last match day, robbed in the semi finals of CL next season.

Real won CL the very next season Jose left. .

That's true too, albeit I think the difference between United and Inter is bigger than the Premier League and Serie A. Inter are absolutely awful and the Serie A is getting better and better. Roma, Napoli, Juventus are excellent teams. Especially Napoli were unlucky with drawing Real.

I am a big Serie A fan. However I am not a big fan of buying Serie A players when they are at the wrong side of their 20s. The pace and physicality in the EPL is way higher then that of the Serie A and its difficult to teach new tricks to an old dog

Wow a whole 3 years. It's been 4 years since Ferguson left and we're still a mile away from winning the league. Is that Ferguson's fault?

Real and Chelsea doesn't entertain with stupid ideas such as the 'value' signings. They spend big and on top players. Not frigging Fellaini.

And yes part of what happened to us is SAF's fault.

It's not logic and reason, it's simply your opinion. Martial's season is generally regarded as fecking shite, yet he scored 8 goals and provided 8 assists, which is basically the same as Perisic's stats for Inter.

Perisic is playing for a worse team, yeah, but don't forget the league is mostly crap apart from Juve.

I'm not renaming the fecking club or anything, I was just replying to a poster that said this would be the end of Martial. Nothing less, nothing more.
Wouldnt want to leave internationals out, they played on comoareable stage. Whilst Martial was shite, Perisic was quite good. Which makes the statement strange, and IF Perisic definitely offers more than an out of form Martial who doesnt do a lot. When both in form I prefer Martial, mind. But dont think he will pick up, doesnt strike me as a Mourinho player at all. He also isnt that good to be bothered by that.

Well I hope you're wrong, mate. Would be a huge shame after his stellar debut season with us.

If we keep signing players like Perisic for big money "Average United" would definitely fit us better.
We have Lingard as a first choice winger ffs, we're hardly "world class United" at the moment are we?

I admit I have seen him less this season but prior to that he was pretty feckin average. This transfer makes very little sense to me

Hope Im wrong too, his debut season was really impressive and already of a level I want an United winger to have, but I think he misses some mentality/intensity to deliver what Mourinho wants from his players. You could say he's been bang average at best since the FA Cup semi-final, and that's been over a year. It's worrying.

may be it is just a rumour?

Willian is miles better and at least accustomed to EPL, though he is also not the most inspired acquisition

Perisic for 39 million is ridiculous considering that Silva went for just 4 million more than that. Terrible deal.

Lingard is our 16th most featured player in league, and 15th in EL. And getting better player for 45 mil than Lingard is hardly an achievement.

My only question is why should we buy someone for the left wing if he is not significantly better than Martial? If we are going to pay 40m for someone, he should atleast be a sure starter.

It's derived from what I've seen of him personally. I'd say his pace is close to Memphis'. Not saying that he's slow but he's definitely not as quick as Rashford for instance
Quicker than Marcus.

Have we signed him yet. From the comments it would seem it's already a done deal .

Alright! Nice two-footed player who can play on both wings. He's one of those who often arrives from the wing to score. Good work rate to go with it as well.

People who think we can do better than him need to realize the reality of our club. The phrase "This is Man United" is something opposition fans are using to ridicule us nowadays. Maybe we should consider not joining in as well?

I want as much as any other fan to return to the Glory days, but it won't happen in one or two transfer windows. At this moment, getting the profile of player José wants is more important than the level. Which is why someone like Perisic will be a better signing than James Rodriguez.

That's pretty stupid. We've signed plenty of top players in recent years, just as Chelsea and Real have made plenty of "value" signings.

Newsflash: Martial wasn't starting already

Martial will be played as a center-forward if Perisic is signed.

If it's true then I think it's his profile. Experienced and can do a job. It'd hint that Jose feels he can get Martial to the right level but he needs somebody to lessen the burden for the next couple of years. And that's putting a really good spin on it. Personally I'd rather spend that money on somebody to play on the right and let Lingard and Rashford share that LW role with Martial.

Who says Perisic would even be guaranteed to start? Maybe he provides cover for Martial in a back a role or takes over if he is still in bad form?

Doubt it. We'll sign a new striker, and we already have Rashford for backup.
Doubt it. If Perisic signs, Martial and Rashford will fight it out for the CF, with Ibra joining in Jan. Anyways, I doubt that Perisic joining us will affect Martial's playing time.

If we're going to spend €45m+ on an Inter player, it should be on Icardi, not Perisic.

Nonsense. The issue as usual is taking two separate Mourinho experiences and mixing them up.

He built a great side at Chelsea and several years later you could still see his influence all over them. After returning to Chelsea he also didn't buy instant success with ageing players. In fact, it is very much his side that just won the league.

Same can be said about Real. They have gone from strength to strength since he left. No collapse whatsoever.

In both cases all that happened is what may yet materialise: he fell out with everyone.

With Inter there was no fallout and no sacking. Inter was pretty much as dominant locally as Juve today and desperate for the CL. Mou too wanted it desperately. It was a good fit but a short term one with a single focus, one shared outcome: immediate CL success.

It was a job between jobs. José had Real written all over him as much as "taking over from SAF and not being found wanting". He has done the Real thing and is now doing the latter.

Where to from here though? Nowhere. It's not an Inter scenario, he wants continuous success which is all he has left to prove. Fingers crossed he can avoid the whole fallout bollocks.

He's a decent player, but too old to be spending big money on.

Massively underrated player but it's a lot of money for a 29 year old. If true we might actually have width next season.

Hes not 29 for another 7 months or so. Its not that old in football.
