Ivan Perisic

Madrid's council may buy their training ground for €800m, but it's a long shot.
Madrid's?

References Madrid's incredibly dodgy deal a few years ago where the council bought their training ground from them so Madrid would be able to balance the books because they were in deep shit financially at the time. (or something to that effect).

Who else were Inter looking to sell instead/as well recently to raise the funds?

There was some buzz about Brozovic to Everton recently.

With teams like Everton and Zenit reportedly interested in signing Marcelo Brozovic, we thought we were done with the Croatian being linked to Champions League teams in England, but Gazzetta dello Sport had other ideas.

Looking at the Ivan Perisic situation, which hasn’t changed (Ed Woodward still being stubborn and not upping his offer), the Italian newspaper also look at the other ways Inter could raise the €30m they need to pay to comply with FFP regulations.

As has been previously explained, the likes of Marcelo Brozovic and Ever Banega are the likeliest alternatives to Ivan Perisic to get that kind of money, a scenario they would much prefer.

Selling ‘less valuable’ assets before the end of June would allow them to have complete power in the negotiations with Manchester United for the winger, something they don’t have at this very moment.

Possibly to reassure Inter fans about their club’s decision to reject an €18m bid from Everton for Marcelo Brozovic, Gazzetta say that José Mourinho is also interested in the Croatian midfielder.

The last time #EpicBrozo, as he’s known, was linked with a move to Old Trafford was back in April by Tuttosport, who said the Special One ‘wasn’t scared’ of the player’s €50m release clause.

At the time, we wrote: “The Italian media have been pushing Brozovic’s fee higher, despite saying for months he’d be available for €25m. Jose Mourinho has a big transfer kitty, but he’s not a mug, and if Manchester United paid such a fee it could only be seen as the manager doing a favour to his former club”.

If Inter are rejecting €18m for him, our bet would be they’re still hoping for the €25m the Italian press said they were asking for back then.

However, with nine days left before the FFP deadline, we’re not sure they’re in as strong and stable of a position as they think they are.

Yes, we get you can’t simply accept the first offer that lands on your desk, but with time running out, this could easily backfire.

The longer they do it, though, the wider Ed Woodward’s Cheshire cat grin gets.

His €40m offer for Perisic is there, simply waiting to be accepted, and with Mourinho wanting players in before mid-July, the Manchester United CEO has all the time in the world.

So i think this will see some progress very soon either way, with either united increasing the offer or Inter buckling and selling. Except some news by friday.

We should tell them that day by day our offer goes down by 500,000. Might speed them up abit

If we're getting him hopefully no one goes for Brozovic or Banega and we drop our offer to €30m on their deadline.

Our offer already is €30m I think.

If they ended up selling Brozovic for €18m, couldn't we just reduce our bid to €12m, seeing as that's how much more they'd need to comply with FFP? If they can't sell Banega, surely they'd be forced to accept it, or am I missing something? It wouldn't make much sense for them to sell anyone else unless they were confident they'd get the full €30m.

When's the supposed deadline?

Edit - just read the article. Says 9 days.

I wonder who the alternatives might be. I'm not aware of United being linked with any other wide players aside from Willian.

I can deal with this transfer if we pay £26M or the equivalent in Euros. We shouldn't go above that so hoping it's true that Ed is not willing to up the bid.

This guy I remember from the Euros and thought he was very good. Cooled on him when I read (maybe on here) from a poster who watched him regularly, that he could be inconsistent - which we can do without.

Anyway, he's a work horse so not surprised Jose wants him. As long as we don't pay silly money, then I'm not bothered one way or the other if we get him.

We need him as back up for martial and anything over 30 million would be a laugh

Think he will be good for us, also him and Valencia \ possibly Semedo will make us able to experiment with that Conte formation.

Also having an actual winger who keeps the width and thrives on supplying crosses will be a welcome option, currently we are playing with strikers or #10's as wingers.

With the way Martial is playing,i think its the other way around.I don't see any hunger and determination in the way he play.

I think Perisic will be far better signing then people give credit for.

Lets bring him in with Morata please, cant stand the window so far. At least we would strengthen the first eleven

Just sign him already so we can argue over who bought the best winger from serie a.

Find it strange that you bought Salah considering he plays in the same position as Mane and also will go to the AFCON.
