sounds like a hoax- you sure its been confirmed?

David Norris (Irish senator) just publicly condemned Israel.

india shouldn't take sides.

Of course it shouldn't. The middle east have backstabbed India on the kashmir issue despite India siding with palestine for 40 years. We still do sympathize with palestine but no need to jump into camps (extension of non-aligned?). We have good relations with both iran and israel.

:nervous:

we definitely won't be buying him back now, will we?

When does a "homemade bottle rocket" turns into an incident for which you won't put the blame on Israel's retaliation? Two of those? A Grad, A Fajr 5? perhaps only the next import from Iran? Can't you see that you're already blaming Israel for the next Palestinian provocation?

The fact that I referred to "one dick with a homemade bottle rocket" I thought inferred blame. Of course, as you probably realise, I'm would consider the reaction I described in that scenario to be wildly disproportionate and immoral but I'm not seeking to absolve rocket launchers from blame should they break any potential ceasefire.

I woke up this morning to see it's not calmed down yet. It's quickly becoming a "My dick is bigger than yours" competition. Which is unfortunate for ordinary Gazans because, militarily, Israel is packing the much larger dong here.

Well, a good politician knows his crowd. Being "Anti-Israel" is his best shot at attracting his "Anti-Zionist" constituency.

Anti-Israeli mood rife in Ireland says new survey findings

More than one in five Irish people would exclude Israelis from Irish citizenship, according to recent research on ethnic and religious attitudes in Ireland.

As a group, Israelis had one of the lowest favorable ratings among the Irish, ranking 44th out of 51 categories.

In the study "Pluralism and Diversity in Ireland," the author Father Father Micheál Mac Gréil, a Jesuit priest and sociologist, found that while 22.2% of Irish would stop Israelis from becoming naturalized citizens, 11.5% would deny the privilege from all Jews.

“There is a real danger that the public image of ‘Israeli’ can lead to an increase in anti-Semitism,” Mac Gréil told The Irish Catholic newspaper.

Prejudice against Jews was strongest in the 18-25 age group, with 53.6% of this group saying they would be willing to accept a Jewish person into their family, versus 60.7% of Irish people of all ages.

Only 47.9% of Irish would accept an Israeli into their family.

The Jewish population in the Republic of Ireland is less than 2,000 out of a total of 4.5 million, says the Jewish Journal.

Most people accept the media reports that are being fed to them without questioning the validity of the reports.

Maybe I'm being over-cynical but I'm finding it hard to believe everything you hear on the news, not just what we see/hear about from Israel/Gaza.

The Palestinians have a good knack of playing to the cameras and winning the worldwide sympathy vote. Look what happened with Mohammed Sadallah and the fact that they are actually recycling photos from Syria and claiming they are the result of Israeli bombs.

Also how can such a desperate people, who are on the brink of extinction rank so highly on this chart?

Yes because the Palestinians are the only ones engaging in a PR battle and the Israelis are completely inept at it :wenger:

As for sympathy - it's not hard to be sympathetic when you see dead children, be they Israeli or Palestinian. It just seems for some, the sympathy is conditional - if you side with Israel, you make posts trying to justify their murder and vice versa if you're on the Palestinian side of the divide.

How about condemning the killing of ALL innocent civilians? I actually read someone on here, trying to downplay and trivialize the civilian deaths.

Whatever...I'll out.

I'm all for the stopping of death and violence. But sadly there are idiots on BOTH sides so it ain't likely to happen.

My post before yours was merely pointing out that I take all media reports whether they be pro-Israel or pro-Palestinian with a heavy pinch of salt.

And that's usually the best approach. People tend to gravitate towards news stories that they agree with and condemn outlets who publish stories they disagree with as biased. The media have been spot on in their coverage so far.

^I was just going to say, a combination of walls + even stronger security measures + a change in tactic from the militants had at least meant things such as suicide bombings in buses and cafes had just about disappeared.

Only to see this :(

Not sure it was a suicide bombing at all. No report of fatalities. Some reports claim the explosives were thrown into the bus. Overall the damage doesn't look to be as bad as those 1990's incidents when buses were ripped to pieces during the peace process.

This is good news.

Another day and more innocent civilians are being injured and/or killed :(

I hope this puts more emphasis on the need for a truce now instead of both sides starting a new round of fighting with casualties and fatalities increasing. Surely there comes a point when enough is enough?

no major news title confirming this yet ...

Paul Danahar BBC News, Gaza tweets: Health ministry in #Gaza says doctor at Shifa hospital called to treat injured 6 year old. Got to patient, found it was his son. Boy was dead.

It's very interesting how from 848 missiles fire at Israel (35 hitting populated area) are only 3 victims.

To be fair the graphic indicates "projectiles" and the quantity of explosive listed is minimal.

The moral of the story is shitty missiles don't get kills.

Oh and Hamas probably does it intentionally, knowing full well what Israel's reaction will be.

Must suck having a group like that sign your death warrant without asking you about it first.

Are you sure? The last two deletes were by Traub and sammsky.

edit: ooooh Raoul with the hard delete. Sneaky. ;)

I heard in news that Hamas has fired around 1k missiles in Israel, and from that graph 35 were in populated areas. So, 3 victims lookes very very strange to me.

I cannot see how Hamas will miss them intentionally, hard to imagine that they fire them in populated areas in hope that they won't kill people.

Missiles carry explosive charges, it is these resulting explosions that kill, maim/injure etc. If there is a limited quantity of explosive material, casualties of any kind will be minimal.

You can bet that Hamas only cares about what Israel's retalliation will be. I don't expect that they want to kill many Israelis but shockingly enough seem to wish martyrdom on their own people, like getting killed is something awesome.

I got it.

About the last part, to me it looks like they are playing the 'victim card' which for now is not succeding.
