Some stuff doing the rounds on pro-Israeli sources which, if legitimate, may slightly complicate the prevailing narrative:

Possible the snipers were taking out known Hamas operatives?

A very Trumpian twitter handbags between the two of them. Sad!
Trump started all this, he is a pioneer in this respect.

Probably more the case that these men were more highly motivated and capable of charging the fence and reaching Israeli soldiers. We'll see if more tributes are released in the coming days/weeks.

It is so sad, but at the same time, why an 8 months old baby is in the protest? Mindfeck.

I find it extremely doubtful that any parent would bring their baby to these protests. AP are reporting this:

"Gaza health officials are casting doubt on initial claims that a 9-month-old baby died from Israeli tear gas fired during mass protests on the Gaza border with Israel.

A medical doctor said Tuesday that the baby, Layla Ghandour, had a pre-existing medical condition and that he did not believe her death was caused by tear gas. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of he was not allowed to disclose medical information to the media.

Layla's family claimed Tuesday that the baby had ended up in the area of the protest as a result of a mix-up. The Gaza Health Ministry initially counted her among several dozen Palestinians killed Monday.

A Gaza human rights group, Al Mezan, says it is looking into the circumstances of the infant's death."

You can see why the Western media used to lick Erdoğan's nuts pre-Syria.

Along with the Özil and Gündoğan pictures just before the World Cup squad being announced, he's quite masterfully controlled the narrative in his own favour again.

What a cunning bastard.

A lot of people have absolutely clear positions here, which was a crucial part why a debate about @Fearless evolved in the first place. It's not that everybody was kind of open, and he suddenly burst in claiming something about himself. It is normal such questions come up to an extent, but somewhere it goes too far.

He is the only one saying he condemns something while defending it without actually condemning it.

I have zero sympathy for their Jihadist cause built on their self admitted failed attempts to kill Jews.
How many eight month old girls have been indoctrinated into this Jihadist cause? There were a few children who were older than that but fortunately they were also killed during the protest so better safe than sorry, eh?

You seem too close to the conflict. If your hated and bile prevents you from even remotely feeling sympathy for the deaths of kids, without trying to go on the offence every time it’s uttered then I hope when a movement for peace finally goes forward people like you are nowhere near the negotiating table. I know that looks like a direct attack at you but that’s not how I mean it. Hamas and the IDF in their current state cannot find a common ground. The first hope would be for a non-Hamas Palestinian government but who knows when that’s going to happen.

It is difficult to know what the Israelis soldiers could do. They were there to protect the border.
Israel has borders? When did they declare them?
But what other response was realistically available to them which would not have resulted in danger to themselves or the people they were protecting?
How about inviting the Hamas political leadership to participate in negotiations towards a peaceful settlement in accordance with the two-state settlement as endorsed by the overwhelming majority of world states?

If you can’t tell that Hamas is the big Elephant in the room and is orchestrating these protests, then the flaw is with your denial.
Oh please. Hamas using suicide bombers like 15 years ago deserves condemnation. Hamas firing ineffective homemade rockets years ago is a cry for help. Hamas approaching the fence facing almost certain death or maiming is...well...the same as thousands of other Palestinian civilians trying to break out of an increasingly uninhabitable prison.

So you can personally guarantee that Hamas will not now, nor never in the near future, use suicide bombs and/or rockets to attack Israel?

In Hamas’ own charter they call for the destruction of Israel. Not sure how you can expect to negotiate with a terror organisation that’s top purpose is to destroy you:wenger:

Exactly my point, he is saying he has made his sentiment about the attack clear and has not said its "okay" while defending it at the same time.
So he has basically made it clear he won't condemn the IDFs action on the terms of the majority in this thread. So have, using other words and argumentations, several other posters, me included.

Can’t believe @Fearless is not getting a ban for some of his disgraceful, cold comments on here.

Ffs people got a ban for fat shaming on the Eurovision thread!

i dont agree with most of his post in here but why does a ban need to be issued everytime someone says something unpleasant to the status quo.

It doesn't need to be issued. Emotions generally run high in these threads, which is unavoidable.

Fearless must have Mossad levels of surveillance. Everytime someone starts a dialogue on Israel he’s there before they finish hitting the Post button.

This phenomenon where people put people on ignore for their views on a particular(especially political) topic on a football forum is stupid to me. Its like me putting @Pogue Mahone on ignore because he likes Danny Welbeck and then miss out on his bitcoin thread.

You can remove it as well after a particular thread has run its course.

Let’s be honest, a thread on the Israeli - Palestinian conflict will depressingly not run its course anytime soon.

Nope that's the furthest from what he has said, how about a you read up before jumping to his defense.

Netanyahu is a total douchebag but some cheet from Erdogan complaining about morality to anyone, what the feck are you doing with the Kurds you absolute nincompoop?

They're quite similar in some ways.

Erdogan is doing what he does best, trying to glorify himself as the quasi Sultan by paying lip service to the Palestinian struggle, much to the delight of the Muslim world.

Give it a few weeks though and it’ll be handshakes and hugs again with Netanyahu. It’s like flotilla-gate all over again.

I’ve always said that parallels exist between the respective struggles of the Kurds and Palestinians, the same can be said of Erdogan and Nutty.

It’s why I find it bizarre that a large number of Kurds are vehement supporters of Israel.

Hm, do you really want to go into a lengthy internet debate about how to correctly interprete various posts in this thread? Especially since we probably won't agree in the end anyway? I don't, tbh.
