Key player in winning three league titles on the bounce, key player in winning the CL and only the 4th player to have won the Ballon d’Or as a United player.

He’s a legend alright.

Not as big as legend as Giggs or Scholes for you but surely what he contributed and style of football he played, he has to be in the legend category

Cantona, Charlton, Scholes, Best and Robson (among many others) are United Legends.

Ronaldo was just a good player for the club.

Your post amounts to:
"Don't say that! Don't say that! People will laugh at us!"

We're not 15 year olds arguing at school. Who gives a feck? Very few things in football are actually embarrassing. It is a game. Fun. Entertainment.

Football is actually all about rivalry, and we laugh all the time about some embarassing stuff Liverpool fans think/do. Suarez being their legend, their stance on Benitez, Salah - Ramos incident, etc.all quite embarassing stuff that fans from bigger clubs wouldn't really think.

Inappropriate Behavior
Then don't make stupid claims.

You don't know about Puskas, Pirlo, Shearer and I'm going to guess the following players too: Zidane, Zlatan, Ronaldo (bald) but when it comes to Cristiano "OMG PEOPLE WILL LAUGH AT US"

What a terrible poster you are, I literally answered regarding every one of those players and you just ignored it. You call my claims stupid and I am actually trying to answer why I think so, and you only have the same argument and it's because you are in love with him.

There's probably a reason I put you on ignore long time ago.

Feck off.

You take this way too serious

Yes.
Hes behind Scholes,Giggs,Neville amongst a few others for me.
Even below Rooney but its hard to discredit him as a United legend given how important he was for us during the most succesful period in the clubs history.

Absolutely. The best player of arguably our best ever side that fired us to both domestic and european glory. Feckin right is he a legend.

I don't know too much about football in sixties and seventies, were Real Madrid and that Hungarian teams even rivals in some European competitions?
What does that have to do with your original claim?

Also, Puskás played the bulk of his career in the Fifties.

A competent, hardworking squad player who had a knack for scoring important goals. But nothing special if I'm being honest.

Why do you ask?

Because saying Ronaldo was just a good player doesn't really make sense to me. He was our star. I get it if someone doesn't think he was a legend but can't deny how important he was for us

I am not sure about Pirlo, I don't really think Milan fans like him that much as United fans like Ronaldo. @JPRouve ? Pirlo is more legend of the game, and Juve and Milan great. Definitely not legend of both teams.

Seedorf played around 300 games for Milan so I would say he is their legend. I don't think Ajax can claim he is their legend at all. He played over 100 games for Real Madrid, does anyone even remembers him playing there, let alone thinks he is their legend?

Suarez is Liverpool's legend almost the same as Ronaldo is ours. Smaller club mentality thinking he is their legend when in reality he fecked off to a bigger club in his mind. He would sign for Real Madrid too if they called him. Never in a million years Liverpool legend. Well, except in Liverpool fans brains.

I am not sure about Shearer, but he is definitely not Blackburn legend having played more than 300 games for Newcastle.

That's a good question, based on friends opinion he is a legend for Milan but not Juventus even though they have a lot of respect for him. @devilish?

I may have understated his importance to the club during that period. Clearly, he was/is a fantastic player.

But a legend he is not and I think it's an insult to genuine club legends such as those previously mentioned to suggest otherwise. Just my opinion.

Fair enough. For me his a legend but the likes of Scholes and Giggs are on another tier of legendary players and I understand he doesn't come close to them for me.

One of the best players ever playing under the best manager ever, we'll never be blessed with that luxury again. Sounds pretty legendary to me.

Without him United would not have caught up to Liverpool's league record and not won their third Champions league. That should help you decide.

He's a legend alright. The last player we had other than van persie who always had you out of your seat. Made it to the very tip with us and made us a tonne of cash. It's not his fault we replaced him with utter tosh.

Because they both could have a claim of calling them their legend if they were competing on different level, IMO. But as I said, I am not too familiar with the times back then.

Fifties, sixties, I don't really care. I never found it interesting discussing/watching black and white, terrible and short footages of players who played at completely different level of football 50-60 years ago. I can understand that some find it interesting though.

Do you think Suarez is Liverpool's legend?

For us he was probably the greatest player to play for the club, but he’d given his peak years to Madrid, he is a Real Madrid legend, definitely not a Manchester United legend.

Is Pirlo a Juve legend or Milan? Seedorf? Is he an Ajax legend? Neymar is at PSG in his prime so can he not be a Barca legend?
Is Suarez a Liverpool legend? Is Shearer a Blackburn legend?

Pirlo is just not a legend of either.
Seedorf, no idea.
Neymar is not a barca legend. Ha ha ha.
Suarez, obviously not.
Shearer is obviously a newcastle legend, if blackburn are smalltime enough to think hes their legend then well, bless them.

Not for me. He is a legend but for show ponys.

Great player but couldn't wait to get out when he made it. Crying on the turf to make it all about himself against Chelsea sealed it for me.

I agree that he was definitely one of our greatest stars, but legend, no, I do not think so.

To become a legend, it's not enough to just make nice goals and have been lucky enough to have amazing teammates who can help you win titles. It takes something more in my opinion, hard to say exactly what, it's more a feeling I have that he missed something.

Maybe sacrifices or efforts in other ways for the club, teammates or fans.

Great United player, and one that I’m very grateful to have seen play for us, but not a United legend for me.

Had he stayed a couple more years once he reached his best, or at least not spent so long angling for a move away from us once he did reach his best, then I’d maybe see it different, but here we are. Him being a legend of another club has no impact either way for me, nor does his celebration for Juve or diving/time-wasting in the Super Cup against us; it’s just his time with us I’d look at for judging legendary status.

I always appreciate how much he respects Sir Alex (which helps his case tremendously in my eyes), but I agree with those who think that that was as far as his affections for United went - we’re just a club he played for on his way to his dream club, which is fair enough.

He had two great seasons with Liverpool and won feck all. So no.

But that doesn't really mean anything. It doesn't justify your bizarre claim that no player can be a legend of two different clubs.

Liked him and thought he was a worldie of a player, but never loved him. It doesn't help that I think hes a massive bellend now.

Well many Liverpol fans think he did far more than nothing and think he is their legend.

Does only winning trophys count? That's more ridiculous claim than mine then.

Except I never said that.

Nah. He couldn’t get away from here fast enough when Madrid came calling. Was a great player during his time, but he fecked off to his real love, Madrid, without cementing himself as a united legend. A fan favourite, but never a United legend. He’s a Madrid legend though.

I find this Ronaldo obsession from some of our fans fecking cringe worthy. It's like eulogising about your ex who left you for a more masculine, better looking, more successful, richer guy. The man couldn't wait to get the feck out of here. feck him and his tanned abs. Great player and loved him while he was here but he's nowhere near Cantona for instance who's United through and through or even Patrice Evra or Ferdinand. Amazing players, integral to one of our best periods as a club, and they gave their best years to us too, unlike Ronaldo. Not a legend imo.

Couldn't agree more.

Spot on this!

I do not think he is a legend. A legend does not have to be such a great player. Legends like Neville, etc played for one club and loved the club and stayed and never asked to move.
Ronaldo asked to move and wanted to move not because United were not winning anything but because he wanted to move to Real Madrid. RVN did not wanted to move but was sold. So was Beckham. Ronaldo admittedly still playing never called United we. I think he genuinely loved SAF but on a personal level.
There are so many players who have played for United and other clubs but still call United we.

Sorry this is nonsense. Ronaldo dicks on every one of those players. A young lad who stayed and played his heart out for this club whilst here. The greatest ever player at this club. He wanted to win and win he did when he moved on. We proved his move a good one.

SAF would agree with me on this which says it all!!!!!!
