Even if that is true, surely they could have prevented the match from starting instead of doing it midway through? For instance, they could intervene to prevent them from getting into the stadium or the dressing room. It's farcical to intervene after the match had started. Maybe they calculated that Brazil will be awarded the match once it starts and then gets abandoned.

I quick google check would've told the authorities who was from England. Then how comes it took three days for the penny to drop? No way did Brazil only realise five minutes into the game.
Second, why would Argentina do this? Qualification in SA is also assured for them as essentially 5 qualify for 10. No need for them to worry about one game, whilst there is also the fact that they broke the laws of a country they entered.
