Internationals September (World Cup Qualifiers)

It's scary how poor Spain are these days - there is hardly a player in that squad I would consider to be anywhere near the best in his position in the world. When you have 3 clubs who are a lot better than anyone else, and you barely have a player from those clubs - that is a concern.

It's almost as if England had a squad with just 4-5 players from City, United, Chelsea or Liverpool (Rather than the 11-12 they had)

Southgate will forever be the main annoyance with this England team. Why did he pick Bamford if he wasn't going to play anyone in attack or midfield capable of giving him any service, and then hook him off the second he did bring anyone on?

Why do we keep playing a right footed player at left back and why were there fullbacks in midfield? I know it's Andorra but what was achieved by any of this? Is playing Trent in midfield going to be any help when we draw Belgium or France in the world cup?

I'm also happy for Lingard but a bit perplexed how he earned his way back into the England squad by literally not playing in any games since the last England squad.

Currently we have a top level crop of players managed by someone who is a relegation level manager...and not even someone who manages relegation standard teams. Someone who manages teams that would turn into relegation standard teams because he is managing them...but unfortunately due to England being shite for so long he's untouchable and will probably feck this generation's chance of being successful.

Also kudos to ITV for needlessly mentioning Saka's penalty miss about 500 times and then feeling the need to remind him about it numerous times during his interview, on his birthday. Twats

It was decided by Ole and Southgate that Greenwood would not be available for selection this time so he wasn't an option.
Considering we have Kane, Sterling, Bamford, Saka, Sterling, Mount and Grealish (and had Sancho) in the squad plus Greenwood and Calvert-Lewin to come in, what’s the point in investing time in a player that’s nearly 30 and is going to be lucky to play 10 games this season?

I’d have included JWP in the squad. Southgate plays a double pivot and beyond Rice and Wright-Phillips he has 31 year old Henderson who is starting to show signs of wear and tear and Bellingham who is an incredible talent but still 18.

I’m more interested in what value you think Lingard will bring to England going forward? Do you think we needed him against Andorra?

I hate international breaks so much. Why the feck are England having to play a pub team to qualify for the WC? Do some pre-qualifiers and have the group stage as a max of 4 teams per group or something.

Utter tosh.

Indeed, these San Marinos,Maltas, Gibraltars, etc are terrible

Do a pre-qualifiers like in CONCACAF, what's the point of Germany vs San Marino,France vs Malta,Spain vs Gibraltar, etc

Those terrible teams are not gonna get better because they got destroyed 5-0 by a big team

Resting the entire XI from the last game in an international break with an extra game due to a global pandemic.

Is playing Trent in midfield going to be any help when we draw Belgium or France in the world cup?

Nothing that happens in a game against Andorra is going to help with that.

what the hell is going on in the Brazil Argentina game?

edit: Health officials?

We didn't need him but he was the best player. Lingard if he gets a move in the winter has a chance of making the World Cup squad if injuries open up a space. On form he's a very good player who has always played well for England. He's also good in the camp which is important at international tournaments with lots of downtime. I can't agree that we should have called up JWP instead. What role would JWP have in tonight's game? Games against teams like Andorra have no value in planning for tournaments. There's nothing to be learned in games like this.

It seems to be related with covid protocols and some Argentinian playera who didn't comply with the rules.

The thing is, why wait for the game to be started into 5 mins to start this chaos? Some officials wanted the camera exposure it seems

Jesus Christ this situation is something else. Absolutely hilarious and the game is pointless now.

Absolutely shameful. Argentina said that wouldn't play? feck them. WO.

The health agency had plenty of time to check the players, block them, do whatever, but this bullshit is unacceptable.

You don't enter the field.

What's going on??

Sorry I just posted the live and went back to watching it.

4 Argentine players came from the UK and needed to quarantine but didn't do it. This was known the other day so I don't know why the authorities waited for the game to start before dealing with the situation.

A bunch of health officials came on the pitch to get the players to quarantine. Madness.

EDIT : word is now they want to deport the four of them.

Health agents and the federal police in Brazil said that Argentina withheld documents from players who came from England. CBF and Conmebol said that those players could play but it looks like they didn't reached a deal with the Health Surveillance after all.

Oh my god

What a farce....surely it could have been sorted before kick off. Wonder when those Premier League players will next play a game for their clubs...

Exactly. What a stupid thing to do. The Anvisa president is trying to argue on TV why it was necessary, but it's absolutely inexcusable.
