India vs England

offtopic..

In response to Warne saying he could play test cricket..

As the debate swirled, Starc weighed in with the following words about Warne at a press conference ahead of the Sydney Sixers' opening BBL fixture on Saturday. "He's done his time," Starc said, with a smile but a firm tone. "He's obviously done a lot of great things for Australian cricket, but he's done and dusted now, and Nathan Lyon's the spinner. We're all backing Nathan to do his job and if Shane Warne wants to come out of retirement and give it a crack, good luck to him."

Starc seems a class act.

The whole "how could we lose to England of all teams" attitude as well as all the England hate is baffling.

England have consistently been a better test side than India over the last 2-3 years. As well as a major test force over the last decade.

A bit of humility wouldnt go amiss.

Are you serious?

I don't think it was a case of 'How could we lose against England of all teams', but 'How could we lose at home to a team who are suspect against spin'. Much of the outrage has been against Indian selection and team I'd guess.

England had a terrible record in tests in the last year if I'm not wrong? Either way, India used to be a team of polite players like Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar giving thoughtful interviews, and never had the audacity or arrogance of teams like Australia.

I remember once in India, an England fast bowler (Or that Aussie twat Dennis Lillee) was called for no ball twice and he had his team manager measure the length of the pitch at lunch !!!! That's arrogance.

Forevergiggs touches upon a not so convenient point nonetheless. Indian teams and players for a lot of time had to put up with the ICC dominated by Aussies, English and West Indian board members. Not everybody in the Indian camp was a Pataudi or a Farookh Engineer and many of them in their own accounts felt dominated upon. It's very similar to the FA in FIFA situation, with the BCCI calling all the shots with a lot of money flowing from India.

All I'm saying is, while it's important to credit and commend the English team on their fine run, calls for humility from the Indian team from the English contingent are a bit meh. Nobody owes others anything.

Sorry for the boring post.

So Dhoni has now complained about Gambhir only playing for himself and not for the team.

We're a joke

What do you want us to do though? Drop everyone who's not performing? The players who replace them won't be good enough either. I think the best thing we can do now is to be patient, if we keep chopping and changing we'll get nowhere.

Dravid summed it up best, we lack talent and don't have a deep enough talent pool. It's all well and good saying we should sack Dhoni/retire Sachin but we don't have anyone good enough to come in for them in my opinion.

Quite

If anything everyone should be backing the players at this moment, and build their confidence. The time for any post mortem is after the series.

It is actually not a surprise when a lot of the posters are casual cricket enthusiasts, who see it just as runs and wickets, and then there are the English, who are here to revel in a chance to rub it in.

There is one guy who presents me with a search engine list of things on why he despises the BCCI, when more than 75% of items on the list give an outsider no reason to chastise the Indian board.

Anyways, the talk about the pitches, issue with Sachin's retirement, and I am guessing the tensions between Dhoni and Sehwag/Gambhir are worrying factors. Things are not looking good at the moment and I am not sure if they'll change if we lose 1-3. Things hardly do in Indian cricket.

This has been a pathetic all around.

On the other hand mate, it was obvious that TH was looking for a rise. You should have just laughed it off and asked him if he was gay, going the Marcos way :lol::lol:

Like I said, I'm almost a neutral and I can see points both ways. All boards are not happy with BCCI and their incessant IPL moans. It's a trend nowadays to blame all failures on IPL.

No spinners? it must be because of IPL, not enough patience and not showing a good temparament? must be because of IPL, stadium lights are not working? must be because of IPL. I'm afraid the answer is somewhere in the middle. BCCI must realise that it's a part of ICC and clean up it's act a bit, and be professional going about it's activities. But knowing Indian sports/politics, this is like calling for a miracle. We are never going to have a root and branch review and correct our measures like how ECB did. But then again, you are having a fecking larf if you are asking for humility from fans and players for BCCI's bloopers.

Dunno why Dhoni's complaining about it to the BCCI. He sits in on the selection meetings. He should just advocate dropping Gambhir -- probably already has, I guess.

But it's true, isn't it? Gambhir's playing for himself.

His interviews are ridiculous. It's like he's absolutely lost the plot.

 I saw the bait, evaded it and then willfully went again and got myself tangled.

No one is thrilled with the power and money that Indian cricket holds. It's not shocking though.

I don't think we can relieve IPL of the blame but the administrators in this country have been given too much power. I think some of our ex-cricketers need to stand up and take charge. Though dirty politics and infighting will never allow that to happen. The job of the BCCI should be to look at the operational and financial side of the matters and leave the cricketing side to the people who understand the game. Cricket at grassroots and domestic level has been stagnant for too long. With our financial resources we should be churning out players, who excel in most conditions , but still we survive on the emergence of natural talent.

I look forward to the day when Ganguly will be made the coach and lead an all out revolt to form a breakaway organization. :) Revolution is the only solution to our problems.

Yeah, more like sensationalist press. One of the thing I like Dhoni is he keeps his head. Maybe he does it to an extreme, but he does it well. He has it good for a while and he's been a great skipper. We should stick with him to ride this storm out.

Hopefully he doesn't do a Ganguly and stick long after his due date, by playing petty politics. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

For the first time this series I'm gonna be with this all the way, Root in for Patel, interesting choice, don't know the bowling yet.

Bresnan in for Finn as well, strengthens the batting I think, but Finn is a big miss.

India doing well to keep things very tight so far. English batsmen taking risky singles. Good start.

This is a ridiculous pitch.. Ishant's bowling balls that bounce and get collected by Dhoni.

Slips should come five yards in

Agree on that. This test will not last long. I reckon England will win easy simply due to batting first (and they are the better team right now :()

fecks sake. should be two. Trott looked lbw.

That looked dodgy. 1 bad decision either way right now. I'm unsure Cooks was out.

You can be very sure that Cook was not out. Terrible decision by Dharmasena. I can at least understand if the ball is swinging between heaven and hell. There has been virtually 0 movement.

That's a huge wicket and desperately unlucky for England.

Why is Jadeja bowling so early? We need actualy spinners to build the pressure and not give up easy singles..

Yeah, ridiculous decision on Cook. The Trott one wasn't out either.

Thought it was plumb. Read that Sky's hawkeye showed it hitting in line but they froze the frame here and you could see off stump when the ball hit his pad..

Yea. Trott's. Already posted here saying terrible decision to give Cook out.

Meant to type 'Sky's feed showing it hitting outside line'..

Sky said that they're hawkeye showed it hitting outside the line, just as it looks to the naked eye.

They're not allowed to show hawkeye to the viewer for some reason.

I hope Chawla has a good test. I think he's skilled..

Already replied to your deleted post.

Yea. That was a typo on my part.
