India Tour of South Africa

Good toss for us to win. Hoping to get to the ground a little later.

Took the most wickets and played the most balls and yet been dropped. Unless Ishant turns into Ambrose, this is one of the most baffling selections I've ever seen.
When we have Ravi Shastri as coach, what else can we expect.. The one I thought would survive in the bowlers is dropped..

He has no input whatsoever. Kohli makes all the decisions.

I know it's Kohli making the choice.. But having someone like Ravi Shastri around isn't going to give him any doubts is it.. Whatever Kohli says Ravi Shastri is going to go about telling him to trust his instincts and what not.. I've always felt having a proper coach would reduce Kohli's stranglehold on the selection process,so that's the reason the took on a charlatan like Shatri..

Yes I know I'm not Ravi Shastri's biggest fan.. :D

Hopefully something happens and we win this match.. Don't mind having egg thrown at my face and Kohli's instinct proving to be correct..

Manjrekar's commentary actually giving me a headache. The amount of absolute wrong in what he says coupled with that smug tone. :wenger:

This is a subcontinental pitch.

We had only one decent chance when Elgar hooked a bouncer but the fecker at fine leg was so far inside that it went over his head for a boundary. Had he stood even couple of meters behind would have been an easy catch.

Markram looking really good. Hope he can kick on from here for a big score

There is still some bounce on it so I expect SA bowlers to trouble our line up more but no swing which means if a batsman gets in, he can score a big one. Out batting line up should do better on this one.

Does Markram want to jack in this South Africa lark and come and sort out England's issues at the top of the order?

Doesn't convert either, definitely should play for England.

The main reason I feel teams are struggling while touring is because of their mentality. I have seen away teams go into shell more often than not. Look at SA now, even though lost a wicket still playing counter attacking cricket. India must do the same if they are to do well in this tour.

Pandya is a superstar! What a fecking throw.

I know Pandya made runs but I don't think he should be playing. He is not proven enough to be counted as a batsman in a 6 batsman unit(which is what we are, given the wk/batsman is not so good). I thought his bowling was good, but he leaves the batting lightweight. Choosing between Rohit and Pandya is the least controversial call, though. Rohit himself has not proven to be anything other than a flat track specialist. The others should be no brainers.

Can't play only 4 bowlers as it would put heavy workload on the three pacers. It's one of the things Dhoni used to get severely criticized for on away tours. If India had someone like Ganguly or Sehwag (or even Sachin) who could chip in with quite a few overs, they can afford to play a pure batsman ahead of Pandya. But they don't have anyone who can bowl part time, so Pandya is needed for bowling. While I was typing that, he just ran out Amla with a great pickup and throw twisting his body around after follow through.

Brilliant. Been a very sub continental day.

Pandya is a terrific sportsman.

More wickets please.

SA have been gracious hosts here:D Still, batting looks easy and they should be able to get 400.

SA have turned a 450 score into 335. If India bat well I think they can eke out a 100+ run lead and on a Day 3/Day 4 pitch Ashwin will really start to enjoy himself.

Well, we also did our bit in turning 300 to 335 with all the dropped chances.

feck off Rohit Sharma.

Good decision by Pistol to give Kohli not out LBW and deprive Ngidi of his first test wicket.
