Nobody is defending anyone. Putting FIR and interrogating him for 10 hours for personal attack on Sonia Gandhi is not correct. Your opinion about a person doesn't make it true.
Journalist was attacked because he called Sonia Gandhi by her original name. That is what people are calling out the hypocrisy on.
I never defended his Rome comments. Worse things have been spoken by other people on TV. How many FIR is there against them? Let's not kid ourselves that this is anything but vendetta politics of Congress.

Forget Sonia Gandhi, his comments in general were pathetic. The man is a complete embarrassment to his profession (which is clearly BJP spokesperson now). If it takes a political party feeling aggreived at him, to take him to task for his actions (which wont happen) then so be it.

Again no one is defending arnab. His comments against Sonia were pathetic. All some are pointing out is Congress parties hypocrisy.
Arnab in the last year or so has said far more controversial stuffs. He has spoken against CAA protesters, shaheen bagh, tableegi people etc. , where were congress party then, why wasn't an FIR filed then when there were moments when he was actually instigating people. Now suddenly sonia gets called by her italian name and arnab questions Sonia's love for sadhus all hell breaks out and we have Congress party supporters changing their Twitter DP to support sonia, calling maa tuje salaam and some even urging youth congress supporters to attack arnab. And then we have this drama. Isn't that a coincidence.
Modi gets called far worse things, a narcissist, muslim killer, likened to hitler/Mussolini. Imagine if BJP did the same and filed FIR. We all here would have condemned it and called out Modi like we always seem to do. Nothing is different here but just that because it is Arnab doesn't mean we have to blindly fall for Congress party's pettiness. Like I wrote he has said far worse things in the past like other journalists and no one from congress party batted an eye but the moment he starts questioning sonia, they start crying. The problem isn't his view on Sonia - I mean well that's crass too. You don't see Ravish Kumar saying such absurd things about Modi despite the BJP actually having a communal agenda. But it's more importantly his (and other Godi media channels) Hindi Muslim trouble stoking misleading brand of journalism. If that gets called out whether by Congress or some random bloke, then I don't have an issue with it.
Also there's a difference between making these statements on redcafe and making these statements as a primetime anchor who can influence people whether through crassness (Sonia, not a big deal) or fanning communal fires (Hindu Muslim, is a big deal).

I still believe the country needs a strong congress party who can challenge and dethrone BJP especially Modi. It's like people have given up on Congress. BJP has been getting a free run and from the look of it Congress won't change a thing. So let us accept Modi till 2029 and keep moaning about them. Ultimately the left can all blame Modi for destroying India but the fact that Congress were equally hell bent on not changing their ideology and prioritizing Gandhi/Wadra image then they deserve no sympathy too and why should one trust them.

But what matters is the lack of opposition to dethrone BJP. I still think Kejriwal showed BJP can be defeated. This information has been given under RTI reply from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), according to IANS report.
A known RTI activist Saket Gokhale had filed an RTI query with the RBI seeking details of the 50 top wilful defaulters and their current loan status till February 16.
Gokhale said he had filed the RTI because Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur had refused to reply to this starred question asked in the Parliament by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the last Budget Session on February 16.
Even as the government didn’t respond to the query, the RBI''s Central Public Information Officer Abhay Kumar responded on Saturday (April 24), with several startling revelations in the ''diamond-studded list'', said Gokhale.
The RBI said Rs 68,607 crore comprises outstanding and the amounts were technically/prudentially written off till September 30, 2019.
An inadvertent error had crept in a previous version of the report, which has now been now corrected. In fact RBI declined to provide any relevant information on overseas borrowers citing a Supreme Court judgement of December 16, 2015.

- The first in the list is Choksi's scam-hit company, Gitanjali Gems Limited, which owed R 5,492 crore, besides other group companies, Gili India Ltd and Nakshatra Brands Ltd, which had taken loans of Rs 1,447 crore and Rs 1,109 crore, respectively. Choksi has become a citizen of Antigua and Barbados Isles, while his nephew and another absconder diamond trader Nirav Modi resides in London.
- The next in the list is REI Agro Ltd., with an amount of Rs 4,314 crore, and its directors Sandip Jhujhunwala and Sanjay Jhunjhunwala who are already under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) since over a year.
- The next in the line falls in the Rs 4,000-crore bracket diamantaire Jatin Mehta''s Winsome Diamonds and Jewellery owing Rs 4,076 crore and which is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation for various bank frauds.
- In the Rs 2,000-crore category, there is the Kanpur-based writing instruments giant, Rotomac Global Pvt. Ltd., part of the famed Kothari group, which owed Rs 2,850 crore. Other renowned people in this category include Kudos Chemie, Punjab (Rs.2,326 crore), Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna''s group company Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd., Indore (Rs.2,212 crore), and Zoom Developers Pvt. Ltd., Gwalior (Rs.2,012 crore).
- Another 18 companies come under the Rs 1K-crore segment with some prominent names like Harish R. Mehta''s Ahmedabad-based Forever Precious Jewellery & Diamonds Pvt. Ltd. (Rs.,1962 crore), and absconder liquor baron Vijay Mallya''s defunct Kingfisher Airlines Ltd. (Rs 1,943 crore).

So every prime minister can now create a dedicated fund for say floods and then another fund for earthquakes and so on. The PMNRF was sufficient because it could be used for every calamity including a pandemic! The only reason it was created because modi wanted good optics and wants to leave behind a legacy (thats why he's also insistent on spending 20,000 crores on the central vista when its not needed). It having less accountability is more incidental as far as modi is concerned.
How did chattisgarh state govt manage to get test kits for half the price which was lower than the ICMR rates ? Moreover, if im not mistaken since there's ambiguity about this but the ICMR rates might including the testing costs too and which the supreme court later said would be free for poor people.
