Around the wrestlers bit (and I think also the boxers), I'm not sure what's going on, as all of them actually have a surname, and they are known by the <first name> <last name>.

It might have something around the names that federation is sending for the athletes

Yes on this one I think you're right.

Here’s how it showed up for Vinesh Phogat - just was her first name twice. It has to be how it was submitted by the federation, because all the commenatators talking about her were using Phogat.
