Ice Hockey

Well that was shit for me last night, trailing the Kings 0-2 in the series and dropped two home games. What was more frustrating was seeing them dominate the puck at times but Jonathan Quick has been something else for the Kings, great performance from him much to my annoyance. Sigh, really really tough job now, ideally we need two wins on the road...at the Staples centre...shit...

This bruins/Habs series is on a knife edge right now. I'll say it now, next goal wins the series.

Maybe, starting to have a feel of a series where it will be last goal wins. Game 7 double OT.......win the game....win the series

As a Habs fan its worrying me that the Bruins have outshot and outchanced us all series. Price, the post/crossbar, and some timely goals have been flattering on the Habs. We all know the Bruins are the favourites in this series, I'm worried their dominance (and size) is going start having more of an effect the longer the series goes.

That was double disheartening. Now Habs are down 3-2 and things really look dire with too many high-profile passengers on the team, Pacioretty and Vanek. Also feck me, Plekanec was absolute shite tonight.

If there's one sports club I can say to hate as much as Liverpool and Man City, it has to be the Boston Bruins.

The only good thing about Bruins winning this series is that Iginla still has a chance at the Cup then.
But then that's the only positive thing.

Ducks torching Quick so far tonight. 3 goals in the second period within the space of 7 minutes.

Well done Habs. Chara kicking it in his own net was fecking beautiful.

That was worth a big laugh indeed. There was also quite a party in Montreal's Bell Centre from the TV feeds showing the game live. We can really say that the Habs continue to hold the Indian sign over the Bruins.

Meanwhile, those Los Angeles Kings are really hard to kill. We'll have a Game 7 tomorrow night in Anaheim.

I'm hoping the Rangers don't break my heart this year. We're so close to the Stanley Cup, yet so far.

Epic game 5 going on between LA and Chicago, hardly any whistles during that first overtime. Currently an intermission, tied at 4-4.

Indeed on both counts. I really need to go to sleep but this feels like it could go on for another hour. edit: ha, yes!

Anyone gonna watch the draft in an hour? Feels a bit weird when it's in the middle of the World Cup, but I'm gonna watch it. Hate how they tend to drag things out though. Only first round today.

Soon time for NHL again. CHL just started also. Some highly entertaining hockey there. Went to a few games with O67s and Quebec Remparts when I lived in Canada. More affordable than NHL. I'm rooting for the 67s and the Sens. Anyone follow CHL closely?

I don't follow the CHL to be honest but I'm really excited for the new NHL season. I stayed up yesterday for the Ducks vs Kings game and it was a good one, especially for only a preseason game. I have high expectations for Stamkos, Tavares and MacKinnon this year, the first two after a season in which they had to deal with severe injuries, the latter because he had such an amazing rookie season last year.

I'm a Pens and Blues fan by the way.

I think Monahan will do well this season too. Seems lik a guy with a lot of drive and also had a pretty good 1st season. Put on some muscles over the summer. 67s graduate :-).

So, regular season starts tonight.. Anyone going to stay up to watch some live coverage? I'll probably catch some action from the Canadiens and hopefully a Flyers win in Boston. Would really like to watch Sharks @ Kings but that's 4am local time, so probably a little too late.

Who do you support? Hoping for a Flyers goal in the last three minutes now, although Bruins have been the better team. From what I've seen from the Habs, they're a contender again this year. Too early to tell of course, but very solid game. Subban and Pacioretty:

Typical fecking Bruins. I'm so pissed right now.

What can I say about the Oilers opener that hasn't been said about an Oilers team since 2006?? They played well for 2 periods, even taking away the cheap goals they gave up, then in the third, the wheels fell off yet again. It happens to many times, it's just not funny now. I dread to think what guys from the 84 team where thinking up in the seats watching them. Maybe they thought that they'd take this team themselves even with most of them in the 60's.

Nyquist is the business. Great goal.
Had a great end to the season last year as well. Scored one of the goals of the year for me.

Crosby gets it going early on, I like that. Just hoping that Malkin can stay fit for a full season this year.
