ICC T20 World Cup 2024

I was gonna say "hmm I'm not sure this is an easy chase for us" but felt I was inviting a pile on in this thread

2 down

Checking the table to see if we can get knocked out

I didn't think it would be easy. 112/4 off 16.4 my prediction.

The pitch is legit horrendous and I will be happy when the US leg is done

Half the USA team is basically guys who gave up on cricket in India and went for grad studies in the US

That's pretty much any niche sports team outside the big sports and olympics in the US.

No worries about that drop mate will only follow you for the rest of your life.

We don’t carry any good batting tempo into the super 8s because these pitches are so different.. wonder if that’ll play a role

India are just taking their sweet time to not tank the US NRR too much in order to make sure Pakistan are fecked, aren't they?

NRR has nothing to do with Pakistan situation

Horrible captaincy has cost usa this game, stupid not bowling the spinner not to mention completely screwing up the mid overs positioning.

Just saw a chyron in the corner on my telecast which is showing pitch details, looks like 70 mph.

Please chime in if I am off base

There are many different types of bowlers in cricket, from spinners who walk up and bowl at speeds in the 50s and try to turn the ball off the pitch to the fastest bowlers who charge in and can get up to 100 mph +.

Given that they just played the IPL I don’t see this being a problem. If anything it will probably feel liberating to play on a better surface and they’ll look to cash in.

So India and Aus in one group.. Bangladesh likely to make it from Group D. I don't know what the pre-seeding was, so not sure who C1 is

Pakistan is out.

Just check Florida forecast for the next week. No way Ireland USA match goes through.

Apologies think I'm completely wrong

You aren’t completely off in that Pakistan’s NRR is in a good spot and won’t be the reason they don’t qualify, the issue is they need the weather to cooperate and other results to go their way, the weather is the biggest obstacle right now.

Woah has anyone come across this story: https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...-scotland-result-to-knock-england-out-1438274. England may be your rivals but this is extremely poor from Hazlewood if they aim for this. Reminds you of the ball tampering scandal, they have a big issue with sportsmanship in that dressing room. India could have done the same thing to Pakistan from a NRR perspective but ended up helping Pakistan a fair amount today.

That's to be expected tbh. Not surprised one bit.

As someone mentioned earlier we could've done the same to the Aussies in 2021 and they ended up winning the tournament.

They did that in 2019 though. Could’ve knocked England out but Dhoni and Yadav were knocking it around for singles in the final 10 overs while needing 10 per over.

That was Dhoni in every game 2nd half of his career.

India and Australia being in the same super 8 group is unlikely unless Scotland somehow beat the Aussies. It's 1st from A and C, 2nd from B and D in one group and 1st from B and D and 2nd from A and C in the other. Since India have pretty much won group A and the Aussies (unless there is a massive upset) will win group B, those 2 teams will be kept apart.

The super 8 groups are already decided. The position is irrelevant iirc

I just looked it up and England are B1 and Australia are B2. If England don't qualify, do Australia become B1 or do Scotland become B1 even if they finish 2nd? Totally confused.

Scotland become B1. It's just typical ICC.

I'm surprised they aren't bunging India and Pakistan in the same Super 8 group again to milk that cash cow.

Na that was just Dhoni being the singles merchant he was at the end of his career, certainly wasn’t some coordinated strategy

Good turn around by west indies. They don't qualify in India group right? Gives them a great chance to make semis

The Florida games are meant to be washouts so it looks like our chances are fecked (Pakistan).

I also don’t think Ireland would have beaten US in any case.
