ICC T20 World Cup 2022

That no ball was an absolute BS decision. Kohli played the ball well ahead of his body and it was still inline with his waist, and then consider that it was a spinner bowling. In my years of cricket I've never seen a spinner be called for a ball on those margins.

Oh and Shaheen is clearly at 70-80%. He isn't running in as quickly as he can and his pace is down too. I understand this is a world cup and India, but you're risking long term consequences for bringing him back this year.

He's still only 21, it's not as if it's last chance at a world cup. Shouldn't be played for matches against the weaker opponents in the group now.

But also a word for Kohli, my god what an innings, those two shots off Rauf in the second last over were amazing.
I think we definitely got lucky today with some calls

I am not saying one way or another. I don't know the rule well enough

Look at how far ahead he's playing the ball as well, it's supposed to be judged as waist high at the crease not at the point of contact (that's why Kartik's delivery wasn't given, he also played down the wicket).

Forgive me if I don’t know the rules, but Kohli’s out of his crease. That’s a thigh-height full toss if he stays in his starting position, surely that can’t be a no ball?

Based off this it's probably not a noball

It's fair to say that it wouldn't would've gone below his waist at the popping crease. And like I said these close calls are never given against spinners.

That's what surprised, and annoyed, me more, that they gave it against a spinner.

To be fair, the ball before that certainly would have been a no ball had DK not advanced down the pitch. Nawaz shouldn't have been bowling full tosses, think we can all agree on that, but it was an impossible situation to ask him to bowl in. Can't blame Babar either though, he managed his bowlers optimally and it was always smart to hold Nawaz back as late as he could. Game of fine margins.

I can see Hawkeye coming in for these. Easy enough to implement ball tracking and after you know everyone's waist height, should take 2 secs

Thanks for clearing it up

I think the big thing is the wides. Can't be bowling wides with that on the line as a spinner

I'd forgotten the bitterness the Caf has for Kohli-led achievements.

It's almost 6am, I'm off to bed. What a fecking win, though. Good week for Indian United fans.

They'd have to change the rule I think, to stump height rather than waste height.

Nawaz was trash in that last over, no doubt. But that no ball was still BS

Those wides as well, ffs man. I used to give him a lot of credit before for being someone who can bowl last overs under pressure, he's done that in the PSL. His bowling has been out of touch since the Asia Cup. Might be sacrificed for M.Wasim in the next match.

I don't mind a spinner attempting a wide yorker delivery in a final over, it's not always gonna come off but better than a stock delivery. The 2nd wide was more of a smart move by Ashwin to stay deep in the crease relative to how Kohli and DK were playing Nawaz.

People don't understand the pressure of being Indian crickets star player. Kohli is doing his LeBron thing right now.

Yeah clearly a nonsense call. Ball is dropping and has another 2m to travel until reaching a standing position in the crease. As awesome as Kohli was and as bad as Nawaz was, India got the final 16 runs by pure jam. First the extra run and ball for the wrongly called no ball and then the free hit bowled ricocheting all the way to the boundary.

Yea that's true, can't approximate the position the of the batsman at the crease.

Still I think the umpire was pressured into the decision because of Kohlis protests and the atmosphere, sort of like the pressure on refs at OT.

Still can't get over the 2 sixes by Kohli against Rauf. Those were not easy shots. Absolutely magnificent

100%.

Really poor officiating. Kohli played a blinder but they were definitely gifted the win through some poor umpiring and Nawaz losing his head.

This is probably how NZ fans felt after the WC final.

A brilliant innings from the opposition, a BS umpire call, lucky runs from a deflection and some poor bowling.

Kohli should have done this after the free hit runs.

You want to umpire on what suits India, which isn’t how sport works, buddy.

Classic Pommie on the cricket thread, always whining

You lot “won” your only World Cup in home cooked conditions with umpiring help in the final.

As an Indian fan I am delighted but Pakistan played some good cricket barring some brain farts here and there. I said it after the last year loss to Pak, this pak side is good. Just need some final finishing. I still fancy them to beat SA and play in SF.

Ind Pak final should be fun

Because no ball cant be reviewed unless the batsman gets out. Brad Hogg should know that since he was a former cricketer. And his explanation of dead ball is even dumb. That was perfectly legitimate run.

He is more the Ponting of this era.

Both of their test careers look worse than they actually are by playing too long when their physical gifts declined .

I didn’t realise Barbados was in England? Incredible revelation really. I hope the locals are aware, we could have a heck of a team if they knew.

The test matches aficionado now thinks T20 WC is the World Cup

And yes you did use Barbados born and raised Archer in your team for those wins hilariously.

Yea no complaints about the runs of the free-hit, it was stupid that our players stopped as well. Had Shaheen not stopped he could have prevented two runs and that might've been the difference in the end.

So was todays game not a World Cup game? Man you’re really tying yourself in knots here, I thought you’d be busy celebrating being handed a win against your biggest rivals.

I am enjoying the bitterness from the result of a match where neither team is your rival.

And seeing you want more Barbados players, stealing their best quick clearly wasn’t enough.

One thing is for sure, no-one is coming close to Ind and Pak in this group. It's a dead rubber group.

I think people overestimate Virat Kohli

I really want to meet those people, he's an amazing player. As good as Babar has been these recent years, and we've seen a decline of Kohli, I'm still very hesitant to say Babar is better than him because he can produce these innings.

Babar is incredibly consistent, but his peak isn't as good as Kohli's peak.
