ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Quite likely that we play England again in the semis..
Not going to be easy.
Will depend on the toss and the pitch. None of their bowlers are top class, they can contain a side very well while chasing but bowling first, I don’t think they are very threatening.

Treating these average bowlers like they're prime akrams.

Joke. Next match please.

I don't think any of them are brilliant (Archer could be in a few years but not yet for me) but they've played the conditions well. Certainly better than the Indian bowlers did barring Bumrah.

It’s all wonderful criticizing the chase, but absolute credit must go to the English bowlers. They learned from the first innings and realized taking the speed of the ball was crucial.

It’s not as if India were miles off. The difference in the end was shami’s final spell.

We will do them in the semis. I am assuming they are going to win against kiwis and finish third.

Oh well, never mind.

Getting in to the semis was a long shot last week and for Pak to even get as close as they've done has been a good effort considering we lost 10 ODIs in a row coming in to the World Cup. Take stock of where we failed, ship out Malik and Hafeez, and finally build a middle order for the long=term (Babar and Haris should be the foundation). Shaheen and Hasnain are two very good young pacers but we need a top-class spinning option (Shadab should be a support bowler, a la Hafeez), especially since the next World Cup is in India.

Did that feel good? :)

We are very reliant on Rohit and Kohli...

Same ground for the semis too.. England will be confident of chasing down a big total on this pitch... They actually have some power hitters at 6 and 7 and not Dhoni and Jadhav.

If the target was 300, I think we'd not have chased that either. The mentality isn't there.

But yes, England bowled superbly.

First 10 were just a joke, 3 maidens from woakes ffs  and last few overs, I can't explain whether that was good bowling or India not even trying.

Agree about Archer.

Ridiculous run chase - wonder how much the ECB paid India after that - only explanation for that.

Doesn’t make sense for them to want Pakistan out when England are more dangerous.

Mental stuff.
BJP called Dhoni to make sure of it.

I'm actually serious. Can anyone give me an explanation for why we surrendered without a fight? Why did Dhoni and Jadhav not slog? Why were we taking singles? What's the point of keeping 5 wickets in hand and losing without taking risks?

To all those Indian fans giving it to England over the last few days: :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Gotta be careful man, what goes around comes around. Think its embarrassing that England has less points than India considering that they just beat India and that they have played one more game.

If India had won the toss today the result would have been flipped. If the wicket had anything in it for the bowlers, India likely would have won also. When you look at the NRR post match, the damage control worked as India is still ahead of NZ on NRR. Indian fans are going to cry about the attitude but then again these fans will moan about anything, utterly useless.

Would still play Pant over Shankar. He’s looked nervous today and is understandable why, but game against SL and BAN should be a lot easier for him with less pressure to perform. Also wouldn’t mind Yadav being replaced by Jadeja or Bhuvi. But most probably it will be back to Shankar the next match

I'm assuming something to do with NRR, other than that it's baffling.

Yes, great result and performance by England! However if I was an Indian fan I would be embarrassed by Dhabi and Jadhav at the end there. 5 wickets in hand and no real effort to reach the target. Pathetic really in front all those Indian fans. I notice Dhoni has been doing this a lot recently, is he just playing for his average now?

Does wickets in hand help with the NRR?

That's the only thing I can think off...
Dhoni refused a single in the last over because he wanted to keep the strike.. with the match over.. what a fecking idiot.

Look at NRR post match and it becomes clear. India only dropped by a little bit and therefore can make up any gap in the next two matches if needed (and remain ahead of NZ who folded like fools yesterday). If they went for it they would have likely been all out for less than 260.

This. Yadav offers nothing.

Dhoni should come in at 4, provided he can run and take those singles. Flog Jadhav and Shankar for Pant and one of Jadeja/ Bhuvi. That should level things up a bit

Yeah don't get me wrong, it wasn't stupendous stuff from our bowlers. I'd call it a good disciplined bowling performance and barring one drop a great fielding display against an Indian batting line-up that struggled to get started. India looked as if the big total messed with their heads a bit, you're missing Dhawan terribly, Rahul's struggling at the top, Pant was on debut and Dhoni is past his best. A few key issues coming home to roost for you, but you're still a fine team and can use this defeat as a spur to put a few things right.

Relax. You'll be bending over for a resurgent Aussies in the final as you usually do in any case :D

Na they wont make the final, they will probably meet Aus or India in the semis provided they dont lose against NZ and they will crumble under the pressure. I only trust Stokes on that team to have the right mentality in that situation.

The bowling was not easy to hit big. Every balled bowled was a slower cutter.

Kohli bitter about the short boundary. It's not as if both teams played on the same pitch.
