ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

An absolute necessity for the next England game is we have to drop James Vince.

I'd drop Moeen too.
Vince needs to go, he's a walking wicket.

Ever since Roy got injured things have been going downhill.

Aussies are just something else, you put them in a competition and they feel compelled to try and win the thing. They can't help themselves, they have to compete. Admirable.

Luck? We have lost our primary opener and we lost our primary fast bowler in between the match and yet prevailed. If anything India have played the most efficient cricket so far. Nothing lucky about it.

India have been the best of the lot but luck has still played a part. I don't think they are that far ahead of the pack. I have India down to beat England for instance but I can definitely see England winning it as well.

Isn't Bhumra your primary fast bowler? That Shami isn't too shabby either.

India have been the most consistent so far, can't dispute that.

We defeated Pakistan without our best opener and Bhuvi getting injured in the first ten overs and people are still talking about luck

Even the Afghan game when they ran it close I never thought India would lose.

Of course England can beat us. They are still a very good team and have home advantage too. Their main problem is mental one one.

Aussies and us both have middle order issues. Ours got exposed against the Afghanis whilst apart from the Windies match, Aussies have scored 20-30 Runs less than what they should have batting first.

Pretty much, quite clearly the best so far. I think Australia have gotten better as the World Cup has gone on though.
Australia have an obvious weakness with their 4th/5th bowlers which will cost them in the end. Their lower order like India is not firing either.

Is Hales still in the naughty books?

Yeah.

They need to swallow their pride and bring him back.

Don't like that interview from Morgan. "Not hugely disappointing" he says.

Sounds like once again he'll not learn anything from this defeat and we'll approach the next game trying to hit every ball for 6 again.

I think England will defeat NZ and make it through.

I would fancy India to make it too but I could see a scenario where they wouldn't: Loss to Afghanistan, England and Bangla. That would put them in a sticky situation.

No it wouldn't. 13 points would still see them through (as the other team left to play for them is Sri Lanka).

If they can make a case for Stokes they should for Hales too, semi final qualification could depend on it.

Yes Bumrah is our main bowler but still losing one of your primary pacer in between the match and asking Shankar and Pandya to do the job is hardly a lucky situation. Then we go on to lose our opener who was our key so there is nothing lucky about that too. We beat SA fair and square, we thumped Pak and Aus, nothing lucky about that. Our NZ game got washed out, yes we could have lost that but so could have NZ so nothing lucky there too and against AFghan we were not lucky but our batting was underwhelming but then again our bowing was top notch, nothing lucky there. Its about finishing the job which India managed to do against Afghan, top teams do that.

Don't know why Indians are trying jinx Pakistan there's no chance, jinxing isn't even required.
I don't know about jinxing but I can seriously see Pak a top contender if they reach Semis. I know this 7-0 record and all but trust me I would not fancy facing a rejuvenated Pak in Semis.

Pakistan are done IMO. Don't see the others dropping enough points & they're not making it on NRR
Far from done, win the next 3 they give a string chance of qualifying. Eng has to win both against NZ and Ind. If pak wins tomorrow against NZ , Eng could be in trouble.

Pretty weak teams barring Aus though.

Sure - so we've beaten Pak, SA who are weak. By extension of that logic, teams clustered around there - West Indies(3 points in 6 games), Sri Lanka(6 points in 6 games), Bangladesh(7 in 7) are also weak. Which makes us better than those 5 + Afghanistan which puts us in the best 4 teams... so by your own logic, we belong in the top 4..

Leaving alone the fact we convincingly beat Australia..

Imagine if Lankans defeat Saffers.

I think you're getting over defensive for no reason. Cricket is a game that involves a lot of luck. If India win their games its not like they don't deserve it but luck always plays a role. If India did lose to Afghanistan it would also be because they got unlucky and not just because "they suck" because teams like Afghanistan can fluke victories sometimes.

Top teams create their luck which India have. I'm just saying anything can happen in this world cup and they're not that far ahead of the pack. I can see England and Bangla beating India but I still maintain India will see off both teams with quite ease.

(btw, Pandya bowling was actually a lucky break for India. Imam was totally surprised at that length and playing for the outswing. Again that's not to say India wouldn't have won otherwise but luck does play a role in cricket)
