ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

BDM and ADD are both examples of acronyms I will associate with Navjot Singh Sidhu. Bloke needs to shut the feck up immediately.

I'm going to bed.

Was a great game and i was routing for bangladesh, a few more games like this would be good

A score of over 200 should be enough. I can't see Ireland handling spin bowling.

Very astute observation that. Yes in the end, it was too much pressure for the Irish. It was an incredible atmosphere in the stadium, just amazing!! Certainly the most electric (and intimidating) atmosphere the Irish would ever have played in front and I think in the end, thats what swung it in Bangladesh's favour.

Bangladesh yet again failed to deliver to their potential with a shockingly immature batting performance. Lucky for them Ashraful and especially Shafiul showed up with the ball and Ireland could not handle the intensity created from Bangladesh's wonderful fans.

Bangladesh really have to get there act together if they are to stand any chance against another test nation like the West Indies next week. But if they can beat the West Indies (and they should as I think they are a better all round side as well as having massive home advantage), then its on course for a 1/4 slot, again to be played in Dhaka.

They will be happy and glad to have gotten this win, a huge confidence booster, under their belt.

Bangladesh amuse me. They come across as a bunch of arrogant brats on the pitch.

Oh and Ganguly is a fecking brilliant. Best 'expert' by a mile. He has a good point to make about pretty much everything. Really good cricket brain. No wonder he was such a fantastic captain. Very unexpected though I must say.

This from an Indian supporter...a team that contains

certifiable cnuts like

Sreesanth
Harbhajan
Yuvraj

The only idiot on the field yesterday was Ashraful...his dancing after taking the wickets was completely out of place, and he can't dance to top it off.

But his dancing was nothing to do with arrogance or showing up the Irish, rather it was his reply(rather misguided) to the crowds who get on his back because of his all too frequent and now expected failures with the bat.

Shakib and Tamim are probably the most docile and amiable captain and co-captain at this world cup.

The team won a match it should have won with a lot more ease, but fought back from what looked a certain defeat at 90/2...so they danced and whooped it up, as Tamim says...not in celebration, but relief.

The world cup is not over in humiliating fashion on home soil...nothing arrogant about it at all...then again, I suppose these things are in the eye of the beholder.

Absolutely.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but we've actually been achieving big things, so it still makes some sense (not much) to be arrogant. I don't watch Bangladesh much but it just seemed as if they came across as a bit of arrogant bunch which is a tad amusing given they still have such a long way to go in International cricket.

Anyhow I have to say that despite us being good and it being more understandable because of that, I still despise some of the behavior of the new batch of 'brats' in the Indian team. Yuvraj takes the cake. He's not that young anymore but the man comes across as arrogant beyond belief despite not achieving that much in the game. You can just tell that the guy thinks the world of himself. You'd think playing next to the the greatest man to hold a bat (IMO), he'd have some humility but nah. Sreesanth is a joke. He's one player I don't think even his own countrymen can warm to. There are others and it's all due to the money in the game these days in India IMO. They become stars so quickly they think they've achieved everything.

Harbhajan is the only one I would exempt from criticism out of that lot. He's just a little too passionate IMO rather than arrogant. My guess is he's a decent chap in reality (despite the racist jibes).

I know we were a timid side back in the 90's but I thought Anik Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar were the perfect role models for Indian cricket. Yes, I think the new aggression is great (brought on by Ganguly), but the above two had fire in their bellies to outlast anyone and yet so much class and dignity on the pitch. Who can forget Kumble bowling with the broken jaw and brilliantly. That era of Indian cricketers will always be much easier for me to relate to.

I wonder what the world will have to face...if you happen to win this world cup :lol::lol:

I think you're reading too much into the Bangladesh team...mistaking over-exuberance for arrogance.

Very much a down to earth group(spent a fair bit of time with them when they toured Australia), Shakib and Tamim are quietly very confident players, but respectful...as for Ashraful, as I said...his antics were more a response for the domestic market than for the opponents.

You're probably right. You'd obviously know more about your own team.

But yeah I can imagine the guys I just mentioned above embarrassing us all with their behavior. If Yuvraj contributes even a little, his head is going to start resembling a football stadium.

Surely if there's one thing we all can agree on it's that Australia should fail miserably? They should make this happen due to popular demand.

Were you in Darwin for that mate? I went there for the games and ended up attending a small sing-and-dance type reception for them, as well as a dawaat at some random Darwin auntie's house at which the players and officials were the special guests.

The sight of a group of these boys sitting around a small loungeroom watching TV, playing FIFA on Playstation and generally acting their very young age is something I won't forget in a hurry.

Do you get the ESPNStar feed? It's absolute class. Studio analysis is top notch except for the filth Sidhu comes out with. Ganguly's pretty awesome at this stuff. I sometimes enjoy the analysis more than some of the matches.

Ganguly is great. It it hard to sit through the bile Sidhu throw out there though, every answer littered with needless metaphors and analogies. It can be funny only in doses, he is seriously over doing it now.

That's not surprising. I remember Anderson's interview where he came acrossed as an obsessed gamer

Interviwer: So what do you in your free time?
Anderson: I like playing video games!
Interviwer: Do you have any hidden talents?
Anderson: My talents? I’m good at video games. Does that count?

Every word that comes out of his mouth is just that

I wish he'd realize what a joke he's making of himself.

Ganguly is brilliant though. He's alone made this broadcast worth watching.

They're complete opposites. One makes his point with the least fuss possible and the other just keeps hurling random analogies like a rambling idiot.

Kamran just lost the plot.

Just milk the bowing for next 15 overs - idiot

They're in an awesome position.
Just motor along for antother 6 overs -- perfect players to do that -- and then 3 good hitters to follow.

FFS, as if not let BOOM BOOM bat in the last ten overs. The people want BOOM BOOM, they ought to listen to the people.

Lanka bowling beautifully in the Power Play so far.

He's doing no better. Great last few overs for the Lankans.

Probably game changing.

This has been an exhbition in good yorker bowling.

Not so much BOOM BOOM as pop pop to be fair.

This is a par score.

The bowlers will have to vary their pace if Pakistan are to have a chance. Shoiab Akhtar could be taken to the cleaners.

Nice first innings.

Match's very unpredictable, can easily go either way. SL bat really deep, but Pakistan bowling's excellent.

Akhtar bowling within himself. Still sharp...Very good strategy on a slow paced pitch.

Sri Lanka off to a great start, Pak need a wicket very soon.

Not sure I like Razzaq opening the bowling, he doesn't have the pace or swing to trouble opening batsman, would much prefer if Gul opened with Shoaib.

Gul offers no control to the new ball. He's best when shines off the ball on one side, get the ball to reverse and those yorkers going. I still think the spinners will have a big say in this game.

Fair point, but with the new ball I'd be wanting the bowlers to take early wickets and I don't think Razzaq is good enough to do that. However, he does offer good control of the ball so if he can keep things tight it might work.

Important partnership now for SL, hopefully we can break it before these 2 get going.

Edit: Good job Shoaib!

Good review there, Pak denied another wicket.

Stupid Akmal, chance to stump Sangakkara and he cocks it up.
